Strangers and Places count as faceup cards?

By donbaloo2, in Talisman Rules Questions

I'm assuming that Strangers and Places (S&P hereafter)count as existing faceup Adventure Cards on a space? So for example, the Witch sitting in some Fields would mean that you don't draw a card for that space for the rest of the game?

And when an S&P is on a Draw 3 cards space, do you encounter the space first and draw before visiting the S&P (as per the rule about faceup creatures on space with Strangers or Places) or do you do the S&P first?

Everything counts against the draw X cards, Talismans, Purchase cards.

You always encounter the space first unless it's not a draw card space.

Wich means that you must first encounter the cards on the Chapel, City, Forest etc

Did you mean "space last"? Because first sentence says space first, but the second sentence says "cards first".

Whether or not official, I believe it is...

  1. If a Draw space, draw cards if necessary to the maximum of cards indicated by the space.
  2. Encounter cards according to their Order number, where those of the same type and Order number are encountered together, cumulatively
  3. Encounter any option(s) of a non-draw space last.

All of this discounts another adventurer being on the space when you arrive. This order makes sense regardless of anything else if you look at the Ghost card. Why else would it end up on a non-draw space if it wasn't intended to get in your way when you reach that space? Cards on a space and/or drawn for a space always come first.

And if you want a true challenge, this counts even when another adventurer is on that space. You have to face any cards on the space before you can get to that other player. Being able to choose avoiding random hazards just to go after another player's character is nonsense.
