Wanna hook up and play together?
I'd like to spectate some game trololo playing inside and see how his ideas and decks work ^^.
Solo, best hero is Glorfindel (s), even though there are other very powerful heroes. For multiplayer Haldir is my favorite, but I do not think he necessarily is the strongest. The fact that a team needs many abilities while playing multiplayer makes specialised heroes very useful as well; I think strong team players are heroes like Dain and Boromir (L), or Mablung who has a very powerful ability but needs a strong focus on combat thus reducing his usefulness in Solo play in which you need a bit of everything.
I'd like that. I don't know what timezone you're in and I'm currently in an examperiod but after that it shouldn't be too hard getting a game in. Mndela could join too and let Fatty show his quality. ![]()
Solo: Bilbo
2 players: Ëowyn
3 players: Theodred
4 players: Legolas
I have chosen these based on how well they play from the get-go without taking attachments into consideration.
Sorry Spirfindel but you just don´t make the cut as best.
EDIT: just noticed that those are some very back-to-core type of heroes. ![]()
MORE EDIT: Oh and one hero from each sphere too. Had not noticed that either, but I like the synergy ![]()
Eu8L1ch, for the purpose of the poll, can I consider Glorfindel or should I put 0,5 points to him and another Hero ? Which one ?
Nerdmeister, I like your answer, I will grant 0,5 points to each hero you mentionned (which basically gives you a 2 points voice
.
To all, thank you for the response and interest, I am just suprised by the results so far ... Are you ?
Galadriel !
At least 13nrv, 1 point for lady Gaga
The worst hero is Boromir Leadership
The worst hero is Pippin (sp) ...
I have to add my voice to 13nrv:
Galadriel
Glorfindel is only good for basic stuff, but Galadriel (and Gandalf) are too much powerful in term of gameplay.
... As you might know already, in this world, there is no truth
Not true. ![]()
Haven't played Gandalf yet, so it's not really fair for me to rate him, but...
Glorfindel I tend to use out of utility - needing low threat and Spirit splash mainly. Legolas far more often makes my wish list because of his ability to make progress through combat. This is often one of the most needed elements in many scenarios I play - especially recently. Overall, I'd have to give Legolas the edge for versatility. Glorfindel is awesome stat-wise, but still needs more attachment support to be as useful as Legolas to a scenario.
That's my $.02.
No spirit pippin is the best!
I think a strong case can be made for Hirluin. I can't remember who did it, but someone beat Journey down the Anduin with Hirluin only.
And I don't buy the argument that you can't count a hero if he/she needs attachments to be good. It's a card game and playing attachments is part of it. For my pick... I still can't decide between Glorifindel and Gandalf.
Time! I must have time!
Okay, Gandalf. Glory is more versatile, but that wasn't the question.
Hirluin, for example in Dunland Trap, is the worst hero

Well strictly speaking I never said that you cannot count attachment for the best-hero pick. I merely stated some of the logic for my own personal choices.
I choose to rate Bilbo (a truly unsung hero in solo imo) as the best for solo play because he gives you versatility right from the start by doubling your card draw as well as giving access to the sphere with even more card draw. Nothing is preventing me from adding Glorfindel (and I have) as a second hero but Bilbo is the one who helps ensure that you get your combos up and running as well as giving you the opportunity to sit comftably with many event cards in hand for those annoying "oh fudge"-situations. Also with hobbit-cloak (Theodred is my prefered 3rd hero) and healing herbs in the mix he can hold his own.
I think that what I am trying to say is that it would be a shame if you choose not to acknowledge the potential of a very good support hero, who can, by my accounts, tie the whole synergy of a deck together. Imo Bilbo Baggins is one such hero.
No spirit pippin is the best!
I agree that no spirit pippin is the best. ![]()
Yeah, Distractionbeast, I'm not going to add the comma there... ;p
My point in this is: if you build a certain deck to accompany a certain hero, that hero can do well. There is no best hero imo. A cetain scenario can beat a certain hero his strengths, so it just depends on too many variables. Like Mndela said, Outlands would pretty much suck against The Dunland Trap or the upcoming cycle which will feature a lot of ally hate. Superhero decks, like Elrond/Gandalf/Galadriel fail to claim their true power over other heroes in scenarios that feature attachment hate, because they need their toys.
I don't deem it possible to destillate everything away and choose a best hero. By the way, of course it's Gandalf.
I got it. I just couldn't resist. ![]()
For me count 0,5 Glorf 0,5 Dain.
Don't believe that there is one strongest hero... but I'll vote for Galadriel with a honourable mention going out to Beorn (for his love of honey cakes, ability to soak up damage and still pummel things... oh and undoubtedly having the largest arms)
Gandalf was ruled out since I haven't played him yet, Elrond, Glorfindel and Legolas all eliminated purely on player Hero exhaustion, Dain & Hirluin ruled out on account of preference. (otherwise suspect myself and I would be be choosing between Elrond and Gandalf)
Hirluin, for example in Dunland Trap, is the worst hero

I have beaten many time this scenario with an outland Solo deck ...
I don't think that Hirluin is the worst hero for this scenario.
When you know how this scenario works, you could won with many deck.
I have also beaten this scenario with Pippin spirit !
I have also beaten this scenario with Pippin spirit !
I really hope you mean with *only* Pippin spirit. That would be a challenge worthy of this forum's greatest players ![]()
For my part, it's hard to get past Glorfindel spirit as the strongest hero overall. Do like Legolas though.
