Getting focus tokens whilst in combat.

By DPen, in Star Wars: The Card Game - Rules Questions

Hello, Can someone please advise.

If I have a unit in an engagement and that units focus combat icon to put a focus token on an opponents engaged unit. And that unit is commited to the force with no previous focus tokens on it. Does it receive 2 more focus tokens at the end of combat? Or does it not be able to use its combat icons and therefore not have to get the 2 focus tokens (since committed to force) for joining the engagement?

Thanks Much!

It would only get the one your unit puts on it.

Units get the extra for striking will committed to the Force not for joining the engagement if you use one of your units Tactics icons to place a focus token on the unit it cannot strike and therefore get the two it would have received for striking while committed.

To clarify that a little bit.

Force cards specify "When this unit focuses to strike, it receives 1 additional focus token." So only the action of focusing to strike adds an additional focus token. Not focusing to generate resources, and not being focused due to an enemy Tactics icon or card effect.

During an engagement, only a ready unit may strike, that is, a unit with no focus tokens on it. So if your unit committed to the Force is participating in an engagement, and before you strike with it, receives a focus token due to an enemy Tactics icon, it is no longer "ready" and thus cannot strike.
