Your Guide to Playing X-Wing in Colorado

By jjohnson111, in X-Wing Organized Play

I believe I have everything added and up to date as needed. Please let me know if anything is incorrect (timing, place, etc).

I have begun using the 2nd post to keep track of current events going on in the area such as tournaments and special leagues, so keep the info coming and I will add it.

As of 1-20-16:

  • Store Championships added throughout Colorado
  • Chaos, Games and More Escalation League Tournament added
  • The Jester's Court Monthly Store Tournament added

Gamers Haven in Colorado Springs is every Wednesday at 6pm. It used to be on the list, but not sure why it's not anymore. I'll be there tonight!

Do you know date/time for the Store Champs @ Gamer's Haven (assuming you ordered a kit)?

I will ask tonight when I'm there and report back.

Gamer's haven store championship is March 12th at 10:30am.

Quick update -- Atomic Goblin is now playing on Tuesday nights (same time) rather than Mondays.

Thanks for the store champ schedule!

Anyone have information on Genghis Con? I'll have free time this weekend but I can't find much in the way of event descriptions on their website. Are all teh X-Wing games filled up, or are they just not pre-registering?

From what I understand it seems that the normal TEG guys who run the tournament in past years are not running it this year - Genghis and Tacticon both went under new ownership last year and has caused quite a shake-up in how things are run.

From what I understand from other players, there is an X-Wing tournament held on Sunday hosted by Gamer's Haven I believe? I think you have to make an account, buy a badge to get in for the weekend or a day, or whatever you need, and then you have to buy the registration for the event itself.

At least that's what I assume, never done it myself!

I logged in (you have to make an account in order to view events) and found this info:

Well, ****. Guess that counts me out :P .

Thanks for the info!

Wanted to give an update on The Rouge's Roost in Loveland. X-Wing has been moved to Sunday, at 1:00 PM. We've been going pretty solid since January, and have had decent turnout.

Thursdays were just too packed with all the Pathfinder players, so Sunday has worked much better.

There is still prize support, so we hope to see you guys there.

anything going on the four corners part of the state? Or perhaps the San Juan Valley area? closest to me is Grand Juction but that's still 3 1/2 hour away over passes that I make a point not to drive in the winter.

Jester's Court in Grand Junction is doing an Escalation Tournament on March 12, starting at noon. $5. We'll also be selling Girl Scout cookies which gets you cheat tokens to use during the tournament.

sounds like fun. too bad I'm supposed to be moving that day. out of curiosity, what do cheat tokens do?

Nothing too egregious. You can spend one to remove a stress token from your ship, or reroll a die. Nothing game-changing. And there's a prize for the player who has the most left at the end.

The store owner came up with the idea last fall. We did a store tournament where players could bring in donations for a local charity and get the cheat tokens for them. This time its Girl Scout cookies.

That sounds like a ton of fun. I wish I could make it work but I just can't. I'd love to know about future events though. Is there any info in regard to the tournaments online? I didn't see anything on the store's website. I'd love a copy of the tournament rules, know more about signing up and entry fees if there are any. I would certainly plan on coming up for an event in the future.

Great thread! I will be vacationing in the area this summer for a week or so. I am hoping to hit some type of tournament in the area. I requested to join the FB group to keep in touch. Peace!

The store website doesn't seem to get updated all that often. As for the rules, we'll be using the standard escalation rules with the addition of the cheat tokens. We make up a list of fairly specific things you can do with them, but the new one hasn't been finalized yet. They usually charge $5 as an entry fee. We'd be glad to have you.

Please update Enchanted Grounds on Mondays is now weekly. Thanks!

Updated.

FYI - This will be the last update I perform for the immediate future. I am taking time off from X-Wing and thus, will not be keeping things up to date any longer. If someone else wants to do so, please feel free.

If someone decides to take it up on their own, post and I'll make sure to add a link to the original post.

Thanks all!

And it wasn't that long ago that you were lamenting how you had nothing near you at all...

I know! a couple of local stores open and players pop up everywhere!

Hey, everyone! I will be hosting an X-Wing tournament at Gryphon Games and Comics in Fort Collins at 11:00 am on Sunday, August 20th!

The format will be standard 100 point dogfights, cuts will be done as stipulated in the FFG tournament rules, and unless I'm told that I have to do otherwise, there will be no formal entry fee (just please buy a drink at the Purple Cup cafe)! I'll be providing my own unofficial prizes, and we might also have a store championships kit (not sure yet).

I don't have a Facebook account, so if any of you do, it would be great if you could share this event with Gryphon's Facebook page and any other Facebook pages that might be helpful!
