So myself and a bunch of mates are waiting for the games full release as it should have been from day one, but not heard anything. Any of you lot got any goss on the next big box?
Any word on necrons / nids?
I would guess they will start spoiling what is going to be in the first deluxe expansion after the Eldar Warlord is detailed (for the last Warpack of the Warlord cycle).
However, I'm sceptical that it will be a big Necron and Nid box. We may see one of those factions, but to bring them up to par with the released factions (and perhaps a bit ahead depending on the plans for future warpack support) I'd expect the box to support just one of the new factions.
It will be interesting to see what cool toys the Great Devourer gets to play with, but not being able to pull any covering fixes from out of faction could be quite a setback (but who would want to ally with a faction that constantly referred to you as "lunch"?).
I see where you are coming from here, but I would assume it will be both factions. We see duel factions in deluxe for every other LCG on sale, so I can not really see why this would be different.
Necron's being able to faction with "anyone" baring the restrictions seams that it would need the least in faction cards to be viable. I'm still not sure if you can only team up with 1 faction on the wheel or if you can pick from all at once. Either way, Necrons are awesome, and I just see no reason to play this game until they are out.
As for Nids, well I think it will be a while before they really come into their own. Even more than the rest of the game Nid decks will, at first at least be designed by the developers. Until there has been a bunch of nid cards released it will be a simple fact of picking everything released. Only a small amount of cards will be over the limit. So deck choices will be small. My guess is that they will design 2 deck archetypes for nids at first that can both be built from the starter set for necrons and nids.
Still I really want to see some info on this form FFG as the longer these faction are not around the longer they are noyt having a lot of players try the game. Almost everyone I know was interested in this game, and then not a single person took it up because of the lack of nids and necrons.
As far as I am concerned, when they are added is when the game is "launched".
I agree about the game losing player base because of Nids and Necrons, about half my friends won't even play with me because they want nids. Im looking forward for this release to come out, Im assuming it will be released once he new warlord cycle starts.
Its the most likely. I also think Nids vs Crons will show up as a deluxe set after the 6 Warpacks.
I think we will also actually see two different Deluxe sets with differrent WL and signature who add up to 4x copy of each card, thus completing the two will gain you tournament options with the decks.

What do you think they will do to support these additional factions in the next cycle? Some cards in some warpacks or deluxe expansions only?

How much of the game have you played so far?
See my post in Rumors and News of all my thoughts but:
My Guess:
I had not thought of that. Certainly would allow for a more varied set if the assumption was you would have to pick up two+ of them for a full set (expensive too). Its the most likely. I also think Nids vs Crons will show up as a deluxe set after the 6 Warpacks.

Yeah I believe further Warpacks will have to do.
I also think the general power curve of Nids will be higher, where Necrons have everything available which allready means they can be suited for different metas, a great power by itself.
The problem is that with out any action from FFG on this people are forgetting this game exists.

In all honesty I dont know if their aim ever was to surpass Netrunner for example. If the Conquest game will end out to be 2 Warlords for each faction, a wide deck option faction wide, Im honestly okay. And trust me Im a Conquest Fanatic but the general system is heavy on the player, the tactical options surpass many other cardgames... Punishment can be insane on the first turn if you don't know what your doing and your opponent is.
This is probably the best LCG so far. I tried a lot of them (Star Wars, Netrunner, Game of Thrones, Invasion and LotR) and this one is a real blast to play in a competitive environment. I went to my 1st tournament last Saturday and did 2-2. I could have done 3-1 I think, but some mistakes prevented me to win a game.
If people are stubborn enough to not play this game because of the lack of Necrons/Nids, they are missing a great game. This game is what is the most similar to a traditional TCG of all the LCGs released so far IMO.

I mostly agree with you. Altough I do think there is a big difference between Conquest and other popular TCG's.
Conquest starts the game with probably the most difficult choices a game can have. It's like comming from the toilet and start MtG in turn 4-5 again, both with 7 cards in hand.

This is neither here nor there. Player perception is 1/2 the battle. Hello Kitty CCG could be the best card game ever invented but I will not be playing it as it doesn't appeal to me. Not having Nids and Necrons instantly turned off many players completely and viciously undermined consumer confidence in the product for others.
We are inundated with a lot of great card games. Doomtown was released at the same time this was for example, and there is a number of other LCGs that all will get "best LCG" label depending on who you talk to. The point is that a game needs a hook beyond the actual gameplay.
The game may be "the best ever" but that isn't stopping the general perception of "Well, I'll try it when Nids and Necrons are added" that is common to most 40K xpats and other general players. As they have so much else to play anyway.
The problem is that FFG is taking their sweet time in making any kind of announcements. They do not need to release it but people are completely forgetting this game even exists. Those people waiting for it are like "Oh that game, yeah forgot all about that". They are no longer waiting for the NN deluxe, they are not waiting at all.
They should post some kind of spoiler that I can point to so players coming into my store are reminded of this game and where it is going.

This is where I completely disagree with you. When people I know (myself included) try or play a game, the actual gameplay is the #1 criteria. My friends and I knew nothing about 40k before we heard about Conquest, so I did some research and the game looked really good from the gameplay I saw.
I am a big fan of Star Wars and I was really hyped up for the LCG. I played the CCG from Decipher (one of the best game of all time) and I was excited to play a Star Wars card game again, but in the end, I found the gameplay very lackluster and dropped it. You argument of ''The point is that a game needs a hook beyond the actual gameplay'' is almost irrelevant and from my point of view it's more stubborness than anything else.
What have Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros., Street Fighter and Legend of Zelda in common that let them stand the trial of time?? Two words: their gameplay. They have efficient and fun gameplay. That is always the number one answer that will bring you back to those games even after so many years.
Try Conquest for what it is first, then if you like it, imagine what it could be with the missing 2 factions. In the meantime you'll learn the game and lessen the burden of knowledge when Necs/Nids are actually released.

I think you are in the minority. Theme is extremely important when attracting new ''viewers''.
I corrected it for you. You mistook players for viewers. What you just said applies to a movie.
You're telling me you value the Theme above anything else? Even if the gameplay is complete, utterly and complete garbage? So if Necs/Nids were actually in the game right now you would have bought the game blindly? Stop trolling please....
When I spent 150$ for 3 Core Sets. I pretty made **** sure that the game was fun before anything else and fun comes from the gameplay, not the theme.
I don't know what kind of gamer you are, but you are the minority on this one for sure.
Edited by timezeroTheme isn't more important than gameplay, but it is theme that attracts or repels new players.
I have my doubts you would have bought 3 cores if this game was set in a carebear setting.
Theme dose matter which is why companies like FFG spend fortunes on named IPs. You can argue this, but you would be wrong.
