Assigning Hits

By Zog Elli, in Chaos in the Old World

I have a question about assigning hits:

Khorne's warrior scores 3 hits in a region. There is a Daemonette (2H), Nurgle cultist (1H) and a Slaanesh cultist (1H)

Can a Khorne player choose to kill both cultists (2H) and leave the Daemonette alive, or must he allocate the scored hits to the maximum and in that case he would have to kill the Daemonette (2H) and one cultist (1H)

Since this is something we cannot agree upon we end up arguing everytime we play

The former.

p15

the player simply announces, for each hit, which enemy figure, or Peasant token, he is targeting.

p17:
A player may not assign fewer hits to a figure than are
necessary to kill it and thereby “store them up” in order
to combine hits with other players. That is, different
players may not “gang up” on the same powerful figure

within a region . Excess rolled hits – i.e., those without a legal target – are lost.

Nothing in either of these rules suggests you have to assign your hits to inflict the maximum.

For each hit suggests sequentially.

So you assign the first hit to one cultist. Then you assign the next hit to the other cultist. Then the last hit is wasted, unless of course there is another legal target (such as a peasant).
