Hey all! I will be helping my local organising an in house tournament just for the locals who come down every week for X-Wing.
I'm wanting to do something different with the tournament and was thinking something like this:
In the weeks building up to the tournament, everyone who is attending make a new pilot for a ship of their choice and decide the cost, pilot skill, ability, upgrades etc.
Everyone then votes on if the card is acceptable or overpowered or overvalued etc. The idea being that the other players will weed out overpowered cards and PS9 cards (with justification of course). The maker can then make adjustments until it meets the 'committee's approval.
In the tournament, in a round they may choose to field this ship, fully loaded with upgrades for free...an extra ship at no extra point cost. The catch is, if that ship is destroyed it is an automatic loss. So there is a risk VS reward element, yes you have one more ship on the board potentially firing off at your opponent...but it doesn't matter how many ships it takes out since if its destroyed, you lose.
What do people think about the idea? It does rely a lot on the people being trustworthy and not out to simply win by making an OP ship or a call that gives them an advantage. However the people in my local are very fair and kind individuals.
