Real trailer at last...

By Eggs, in X-Wing

3 years is nearly a decade now?

Vader was a Jedi.

Calling Dennis Lawson an idiot because he turned down the role in this movie is completely unfair. He has his own career, and filling a small role in movies 35 years ago does not mean he's obligated to be in these.

Especially because of the way he was treated in those movies.

Come on guys it could have been worse

But seriously I love this trailer. Its an early trailer obviously and very little was actually shown, but what it did show made me giddy like a little school girl. Lightsabers, x-wings, tie fighters, the Falcon, storm troopers, blasters, all of which reflect the OT style with a modern twist. I have high hopes for it now.

And for those who say the crossguard is dangerous, there is a reason why only force users wield lightsabers. Han Solo would most definitely chop off his own body parts in a lightsaber duel, with or without crossguard. Jedi and sith chanel the force to wield such a dangerous weapon effectively and safely. And its also possible that the cross section is a new design that blocks other energy blades but allows other matter like huma flesh to pass through unharmed. I mean its a scifi movie, so they can say it does pretty much whatever they want it to do, right?

I don't know if I can be friends with someone who simultaneously...

Does not understand that post Galactic Empire, Clone Troopers were phased out

Edited by Captain Lackwit

Stormtroopers weren't the only ones to wear glossy white armor.

In one era, guys in shiny white armor fought for the New Republic and the Jedi. In the next era, guys in shiny white armor fought for the Galactic Empire. So are we sure that in episode 7 the guys in white armor are still fighting for the Galactic Empire?

The one actor on the cast list with a generic character name is credited as "Soldier."

As for the length of the Clone Wars, that's 10 Toydarian years.

They're stormtroopers. Why would they not be stormtroopers? Why would there not be a Galactic Empire?

If they were Republic Troopers, Boyega wouldn't be stated to have been a stormtrooper in leaked things, in addition to that- you could expect a few colored stripes.

You know, since the Rebellion is colorful and The Empire is not.

Aside from being "bored" by the idea of starring in VII, I've seen some pretty disparaging quotes by Lawson regarding Wedge's role in the EU. Not unlike Ewan McGregor's (coincidentally, Lawson's nephew) recent rant about SW fans.

Personally I think he's neither an idiot nor obligated to the series. Still, sometimes it's disheartening to hear actors talk like that.

I think McGregor was pretty on point, particularly the part where the people he hadn't run into were fans at all, just people looking to get autographs and sell them, pushing others out of the way to do it.

The Galactic Empire was toppled at the end of Return of the Jedi, hence the galaxy-wide celebration in the canon special-edition.

Maybe in the time between Ep. 6 and 7, the New Republic has been overthrown by the New Galactic Empire.

And now the Force awakens for the rise of the Newer New Republic.

I doubt they're going to throw out the idea of some sort of Imperial Remnant from what is now Legends material. It makes complete sense to assume that even with the EU not canon, plenty of Imperial forces survived and found a little corner of the galaxy to hide in, and now they presumably want it back. Probably to do with this "rising" in the Force and the (ancient?) Sith we see with the weird saber.
