How to run the Outrider?

By Sonikgav, in X-Wing

Ok so, i picked up both the Wave 5 ships but ill be honest. I WANTED the Decimator, i have plans for it, lists in mind and options a-plenty. I got the YT-2400 because it had upgrade cards i wanted but like the Falcon, is probably doomed to sit on my shelf as a display piece.

I havent really looked into it but ive seen talk of 'Super-Dash' and other such nicknames flying around.

I assumed he runs similar to the Falcon though more aggressive (Arc Dodge instead of just tanking everything) but whats the optimal?

Also, to blow off the dust i was thinking of a Double YT list but again, whats the best plan? I know you cant fit Dash and Han together, but maybe the Co-Pilots. Do they need further support?

Basically im looking for any ideas and suggestions people may have to save it from a life on the shelf.

Well don't quote me on this but I think that "Super-Dash" looks something like this;

Dash Rander (36)

Push the Limit (3)

Heavy Laser Cannon (7)

Kyle Katarn (3)

Outrider (5)

Engine Upgrade (4)

Total 58 points leaving you 42 left.

Hope this helps.

Seems almost perfect for 2 Rookie X's ;)

Or 4 Z-95's :)

Dash can be run successfully with the above build, but there's also other ways that would likely work.

Vrill should be kept light on upgrades and surrounded by allies with upgrades that dish out stress

The generic may be worth experimenting with, given a HLC

Leebo can be built either as a budget-Dash, or a more expensive version of the generic. Determination goes well with his ability

I favour a 56 point version of the build listed above, with Nien Nunb instead of Kyle Katarn.

It gives you less actions and makes you more susceptible to bumping, but also makes you less predictable and allows you to run and hide even further away.

I would quite like to try out a damage denial Chewbacca + Leebo build. I'm just not sure how to put it together yet.

Or 4 Z-95's :)

Might want to check your math again there... :S

I would quite like to try out a damage denial Chewbacca + Leebo build. I'm just not sure how to put it together yet.

Chewbacca + Luke skywalker + Predator + Millennium Falcon

Leebo + HLC + Outrider + Determination

Could work

4 Z-95s is going to be silly (52 point dash: HLC, Title, PTL, Nien-Ein-Swine guy that makes all straight maneuvers green)

As for how to play him, just arrange your asteroids, fly dash along the edge of the table, and pretend you're playing Space Invaders

Now this one i like.

I know you cant fit Dash and Han together,

Dash+Predator+HLC

Han+Marksmanship+Gunner (Or C3PO instead of Marksmanship)

Now you can't have two super powered ships but both of these are what I would can "Respectable" they can work, but you have to fly well with them. (How dare I imply you actually need to try to keep a ship in a firing arc with a large based turret ship)

People working out the best combo's and here's people like me reading their combo's and thinking about how to beat it. First up im happy to see some people are going to be stressing him via PTL, that people arent really considering his PS and that Outrider Title RNG1 weakness....hrmmmm

My 200 point list for this weekend:

Dash Rendar (36)

Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
Recon Specialist (3)
Outrider (5)
Jan Ors (25)

Chewbacca + Luke skywalker + Predator + Millennium Falcon

Leebo + HLC + Outrider + Determination

Could work

Or this:

Chewbacca (Predator, Gunner, C-3PO, Millenium Falcon)

Leebo (Lone Wolfe, HLC, Lando)

'Stache 'N Dash

Dash Rendar

-Outrider

-HLC

-Lone Wolf

-Recon Spec

-Countermeasures

Horton Salm

-Protorp

-Protorp

-R2-D6

-Vet Instincts

-Ion Turret

-Engine Upgrade

Don't shoot the messenger, but this is a thing.

Chewbacca — YT-1300 42
Draw Their Fire 1
C-3PO 3
Millennium Falcon 1

Dash Rendar — YT-2400 36
Veteran Instincts 1
Heavy Laser Cannon 7
Lando Calrissian 3
Outrider 5

-

99pts

Go for Chewie, well.

Go for Dash in a timed format, well well...

Also, with four blocking Zs and nien nub opening up maneuvers (or super dash rocking engine), maintaining range 1 without a phantom/interceptor or a Swarm taking up space is basically impossible.

Could go even further with evade/evade and focus/evade, Determination/Draw Fire. Both PS5 for movement ease.

"Leebo" (34)
Determination (1)
Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
Recon Specialist (3)
Outrider (5)
Chewbacca (42)
Draw Their Fire (1)
C-3PO (3)
Jan Ors (2)
Millennium Falcon (1)
Total: 99

I was toying with this myself and came up with this...

Chewbacca (50)

Push the Limit

Recon Specialist

Millenium Falcon

Tactical Jammer

Leebo (50)

Wingman

Heavy Laser Cannon

Jan Ors

Outrider

Comes in dead on 100pts

Basically the plan is to fly circles, with Leebo 'outside' Chewie. With Jan in there the opponent has a choice of shooting at Focus + 2x Evade Token Chewie, or 3/4 agility dice Leebo with his HLC.

Dash- outrider, hlc, ptl, nien numb

4 bandits or

2 bandits and a jake or

2 bwings

Etc etc

My money's on the four bandits for blocking purposes

Since Dash's greatest theoretical weaknesses are range 1 and bumping, you'll want the most bodies you can afford to keep the enemy off of him

Also, larger numbers of Zs are amazing for setting up a ring of asteroids and then jamming the gaps with expendable ships. Whether you force a bump or a ride through/on an obstruction, you come out ahead :)

You don't run it, you ride it. You run the Outrunner.

This is my favorite way to run a Dash/Han list. Its done fairly well so far and is fun to fly. Not so fun for people that don't enjoy flying against turrets.

100 points
