License to Vrill

By Bohrdumb, in X-Wing

Got to fly my new YT2400 tonight.

Nera + 2 x Flachettes + Deadeye + Munitions Failsafe + FCS

Dutch + Ion Cannon Turret

Vrill + Leebo + Experimental Interface

Control, damage, arc dancing, action economy. It had it all!

Any suggestions on better ways to lay stress?

Vrill is gonna be stressed and ioned if you come up against an ion opponent.

I reckon two three dice attacks isny gonna cut it, even with 360 arcs.

Which I did tonight. The ion doesn't scare me because the ships that carry them are relatively easy to deal with. And Dutch granting the free TL helped out when I couldn't shed the stress.

You need a way to consistently deal stress after the torpedoes are spent. I'd swap Dutch for Hobbie with stress bot or find a way to get in a Tactician, like on the B wing or a HWK

Yea. I like Hobbie. Tactician would be decent but so difficult.

To solve a few issues mentioned, I'd drop munitions failsafe on Nera for E2 Mod w/ Tactician. I'd drop EI and Leebo from Vrill for Recon Specialist to make room. The only problem I see with this setup is Nera having Deadeye. With FCS and Dutch I feel you'd have the target locks to get flechettes off as needed. Maybe swap Deadeye with Adrenaline Rush or put an R2 on Dutch. The reasoning behind this is that you may often likely use Nera's action to barrel roll into position for a Tactician trigger, leaving you focusless. Don't underestimate Tactician on a barrel rolling ship :)

Wes with R3 is also potent, but he can't as really clear the stress.

Similar to a list I was looking at

"Dutch" Vander — Y-Wing 23

Ion Cannon Turret 5

R7-T1 3

"Hobbie" Klivian — X-Wing 25

R3-A2 2

Eaden Vrill — YT-2400 32

Heavy Laser Cannon 7

Tactician 2

His ability works off his primary attack, so if you just wanna ignore his ability you may as well use another pilot. also, by the time you shoot the next round they might ha, and most likely will have, shed the Tacticians stress.. I think the better crew is Recon Spec, and maybe use something to help better his defense, maybe hull or shield upgrade..

Just my 2

I think you're trying too hard to make Leebo work where he doesn't.

The second time you boost, you're stressed and ioned, so will only remove the stress after 2 turns, and that's assuming you do a green move.

I'd favour something more along these lines.

The whole point is to stress other ships so that Vrill is effectively 3/2/5/5. I say maximise that. Dash will mean they can't hide in asteroid fields. You can just plow straight into it and keep shooting.

B-Wings are the stress creators. If they manage to ever fire the Flechette torps at range 2, that's double stress. Otherwise, they can use it to stress at range 3. Tactician for obvious reasons, Advanced Sensors to increase the chance you're at range 2. I chose Daggers because they fire before Vrill, making it more likely Vrill's target will be stressed. Anti Pursuit lasers, because there were 2 points left over. Modify to taste.

Eaden Vrill (32)
Dash Rendar (2)
Anti-Pursuit Lasers (2)

Dagger Squadron Pilot (24)
Advanced Sensors (3)
Flechette Torpedoes (2)
Tactician (2)
B-Wing/E2 (1)

First off Leebo worked great. You pick your spots to use him and it's fine.

I do agree it's important to use ships that shoot before Vrill. Part of me is considering Keyan as he is one of the best Bs out there.
