i predict that we will be seeing a resurgence (or well, since it never caught on to begin with, maybe just a surgence?) of the Autoblaster. Not only is it effective against both Fat Han AND Cloaked Phantoms, but there are a lot of potent combos that have come out and are about to come out.
Consider the following:
Autoblaster + Outrider, especially on a hyper mobile Dash
Autoblaster + Rexlar Brath. Unblockable crits anyone?
Autoblaster + Accuracy Corrector. A guaranteed 2+ unblockable damage anyone?
Autoblaster + Scumm Boba Fett + Greedo. At least one reroll on your attack, + the first damage card is automatically a crit, AND you're still free to take focus action. Ouch.
Thoughts?
Revenge of the Autoblaster
I'm not saying the next few waves won't make the autoblaster more popular but looking at a few of your ideas I'm not entirely sure I agree with you.
Autoblaster on Dash, gives you a big range one area for sure, but against Han you'll never be in range, and if you are he'll have a token and C3-P0 because he can still roll, and he can block crits first with his dice. This won't drop Han. But will ensure that you're eating dice from Han. Making a ship that ONLY shoots at range one seems like a bad idea, especially when it's at least 46 points.
I'd be more expecting to see a few end up on B-wings with Fire Control Systems, 3 Dice one turn then 3 dice with the autoblaster at range one with focus and a target lock. That'll hurt. And you can have a few ships with it not just a big one.

No. That's 7 points for a gun that, against many targets, does less damage than a primary weapon shot and only gains a meaningful advantage against high-agility targets (phantoms, PTL interceptors, etc) that you're rarely going to catch at range 1. Why would you want such a bad weapon when 7 points will also get you a HLC that will do far more damage in most games?
EDIT: Already posted in the duplicate thread. ![]()
@iPeregrine - I'm with you on that one all the way. I just think we'll see that before we see auto blaster Dash.
Woah, yeah, I just saw that it double-posted my thread. Sorry about that guys. :\
Edit: also, I should add that I've tried a game with auto-blaster on a hyper-mobile Dash. I think I had at most maybe 1 round where I couldn't get a shot off. Dash is VERY good at getting to range 1 when he wants to.

We won't see any more Autoblaster than we currently are. The card's problem was never that it could be stopped by Evade tokens. Evade tokens don't even show up against most Rebel ships. Its problem was the range 1 restriction, which meant you got it off too rarely and, even when you did, you usually didn't do any more damage than you would have with your main guns. That made it a great way to waste 5 points, and none of that has changed.
Looking through the suggestions there, the Outrider gives you a ship that is easily sniped to death, especially by higher PS ships, Rexler again has to be at range 1 and still suffers from his problem of getting a spare Focus token to modify his own attack, and the last two exacerbate the cost problem without providing any improvement over a Heavy Laser Cannon.
Autoblaster is still a bad card. Stop trying to make it work, people.
The real thing that is going to make the autoblaster relevant: turning it into a 2-point turret.
Expose is still a bad card, but it's finding its uses with Chiraneau. I'm not trying to say that Autoblaster is all of a sudden the coolest, meanest, end-all-be-all card, just that I think it's starting to have its uses now, too.We won't see any more Autoblaster than we currently are. I WILL wholeheartedly agree that it is overpriced though. It probably ought to be around 3 points, maybe 4 at the most.

IMO, Expose-on-Decimator will only last a little while, because once again the wrong problem has been fixed. Expose's biggest problem wasn't the agility loss, it was the cost and action requirement. People will realise that it still sucks even on the Admiral soon enough and move on to things that are actually useful.
Re: the Autoblaster, you say yourself that it is still overcosted, so why do you think that it's suddenly become useful? What else has changed that suddenly makes it an acceptable option? Because I can't see anything.
@Dr4co:
What's changed? The meta and the new cards that combine well with Autoblaster. See my original post.
Now, if you still don't think the Autoblaster will have a place in any of your lists, that's fine by me- you're not going to hurt my feelings. ![]()
I guess I have a hard time seeing how an Autoblaster on Dash could be all that effective. With the Outrider title you can shoot 360° but you will ONLY be able to shoot at ships when at range 1 and when you do you will ONLY be rolling 3 dice.
Even if they can't cancel hits they can still cancel your crits and you are still going to get blanks part of the time.
HLC's that can be fired at range 2-3 (but not 1) and allow you to throw 4 dice each attack seems like a much stronger option.

I'm fairly sure they FAQ'd that. I think they decided that every evade added by tokens or abilities would count as an additional evade result, as in you get another die with 100% evade chance. So neither tokens nor 3PO helps against Autoblaster.
If my memory serves me right that is, I don't have the FAQ right in front of me.
Also getting into range 1 is no problem with Dash, PtL and EU. It's the ship that can move the farthest in one activation phase in the game.

Again, no FAQ in front of me but I remeber reading that too.
Personally I'd love to try it out with accuracy corrector on some Bwings to see how that works out. Keyan with this, PTL and EU could be fun, maybe not smart, but fun.
Well you know there is an autoblaster turret coming and its pretty cheap. I see some Scum and Rebel Y-Wings fly around with that because they're much cheaper than what you propose. Scum Y-Wing will also be able to have all greens on range 3 which makes the **** thing pretty fast in your face... Maybe an engine upgrade on top of that and you have a serious threat for under 30 points!
Edited by ForceM"Autoblaster + Outrider, especially on a hyper mobile Dash" is bad. With no good way to have a high pilot skill you will be moving before most of your targets. Causing you to have nothing to shoot.
