Has the rock been found for the Dash scissors?

By RsRabin, in X-Wing

With everyone who got Outrider early, and those on Vassal, and just those who proxy... has there been something that can reliably beat Dash yet?

Yes. Dash is vulnerable to the stress mechanic; Rebel captive, Mara Jade, Tactician, R3A2......

Ion cannons as well.

If you listen to the S&V podcast the Dash is more like a Rock that looses to succors but beats paper. Dash apparently is good against swarms unlike Fat Han but is weak against mobility such as Echo.

Can echo hold up against the corran vi fcs eu though?

Dash has no means to preform actions before maneuvering and cannot outrider shoot targets within range 1, all that plus he's on a fat base.

Action denial, bumps included, ought to do it

Echo is also a pretty strong counter, as she can reliably get into Range 1. Rear Admiral Chirpy is also quite an interesting candidate if he has Engine Upgrade. Dash does not like crits.

Dash can't use gunner or Luke with the outrider title, so interceptors boosting into range one might be a solution. (a man can dream damnit)

Assuming that they've got the higher Pilot Skill. Otherwise, it's Barrel-Roll time!

Dash isn't invincible, but he is fun to play. I played him a few times in Vassal in a 2 vs 2 200 pt per team game. He won most of time, but lost twice.

One time he was killed was when a Howlrunner mini-swarm kept focus firing him throughout the game. It didn't help my red dice were getting only 1-2 hits with his HLC and the academy ties were getting evade rolls like candy and the bombers were just absorbing hits as well. Dash was the sole survivor (Lost 2 rookies, Biggs, 2 HLC B-wings) until he was killed by an academy . It was a massacre.

Another time, Dash lost was when received a crit from a Decimator and lost his HLC making him mostly harmless with his 2 attack dice.

Another time I foolishly put him with the firing arcs of another tie miniswarm and was almost killed. I flew him away from them and attacked other targets. We won with Dash only having 3 hit points left.

The other night my Dash build got 2-shotted by Whisper. It took 90 minutes for her to catch up to me and get off shots, but when she did her first roll was hit-hit-hit-crit-crit (no evades) and then the next round she got me in R1 arc again by a hair's-breadth barrel roll, and did hit-hit-crit-blank-blank, target lock, hit-hit. One evade and a Direct Hit later, and I was off the board.

Obviously those were some ridiculous dice, but I think that in general Phantoms will do well against Dash. They can slip into the donut, and even from further off they're maneuverable enough to keep him from arc-dodging them. With VI and ACD they're getting solid protection from his offense.

I think Defenders might do alright also. White K-turn and 3 attack dice can keep him in sight and whittle him down.

Interceptors will ruin his day as will phantoms, his weakness is his PS which will be fairly easy to exploit.

Very good Dash players will be able to set up and use their asteroids so they can go where it will be very difficult to follow, even with higher PS. So, while I believe that high PS will be a solid option, how reliable it will be once people get good with Dash is another question.

That said high PS the best option, well, that, and your own turrets/Nera Dantels aren't going to care about him flipping all over the board.

Yes he can avoid damage from asteroids but if you force him to land on one he can't attack which is also in your favour.

I've been playing Dash with Vi against a wide variety of lists and he has really proven to be really powerful. I think the real secret to using Dash is just to bite the bullet and roll with VI. PS 9 makes paired with Leebo's boost and and the 2400's barrel roll makes him a pain to out maneuver.

A few HLC shots with focus and predator/target lock can make quick work of him.

:P

Pretty much any high ps guy with eu. I run whisper and RAdm chiraneau. I playtested several times against outrider dash and did just dandy.

Considering that Dash's pilot ability is based around ignoring rocks, shouldn't he be Paper instead?

Good call lol

Imo, the meta is going to open up quite a bit with Wave 5. Though there will be even more turrets and even less interceptors.

Echo is apparently pretty good vs Dash.

Soontir isn't bad either.

Phantoms in general apparently.

I'm glad that Echo is getting a chance of being a viable option.

the Decimator can be built to really hurt Dash. It can also be paired up with many other things that make it viable versus any of the now four meta pillars. So, that's really exciting.

What's also exciting for me is watching pros use many different upgrade choices on the Decimator for very different lists. I had been filling up the Decimator completely and using some "required" things. Now... I'm probably going to still use those most often, but its refreshing to know there are other good choices too.

Oh, others ahve tried Turr Phennir vs Dash too. Seems to be okay. And Carnor. So... actually maybe interceptors will have one decent matchup.

Sadly, if you see the dreaded Falcon + Outrider build. UGH. big ugh.

Falcon outrider build? Is one fat or are they both just chubby?

Both Chubby, gear the outrider towards damage (and stay at R3) and the Falcon towards tanking. Overshoot your opponent with the falcon and sandwich them between both bohemoths.

Something like

Chewbacca
C-3PO
R2-D2
Falcon

Dash
HLC
Lone Wolf
Outrider

Something like that?

My list is built out to 100pts and will never be below that as I never, never want Iniciative

The person with the lowest number of points spent on their squad get to pick which player gets initiative. If you never want it you have as much reason to underspend as someone that always wants it.
