Asmodee is merging with FFG...

Hmm the company that mismanaged Helldorado miniatures game

I've never heard of this company, but from what I can see, they seem to be a pretty big board game distributor. With that in mind, I'm hoping that it means they'll be able to speed up production of future waves

This deal's getting worse all the time.

(Too soon?)

Yeah, keep that in your back pocket for when Asmodee starts meddling in FFG's affairs to negative effect.

At least it's not GW.

I still predict a future in wich WOTC buys up every other company and owns 100% of all board/cardRPG/dice games.

You do know that Hasbro already owns WOTC right?

I can only hope that what has happened with WOTC and Hasbro doesn't happen here. (i.e. big fish buys small fish with profitable IP then siphons off the valuable stuff to leave previously profitable entity treading water and cutting all its rewards programs)

At least it's not GW.

Why, so they can run them all into the ground in favor of promoting nothing but Magic: the Gathering and D&D? Because that's what they do with their own games.

Not just mismanaged it, but actually insulted American customers by not initially releasing it in America because it they thought it would offended our fragile sensibilities.

I didn't say it was a good future :D

Sounds like a major ripple in the Force...Kind of explains the opening floodgates of new games and the delays on miniature production and releases as well...The plus side will be for those overseas ; unsure on the downside here in the Americas...Only time will tell what will unfold next yr...

Not the news I was looking for today. Certainly curbs my spending a bit in the near future. FFG does it right and that's why they get my little bit of spending money even if I'm not playing nearly as much as I used to or as much as I would like.

Here's hoping FFG gets to keep do their thing...

FFG is still FFG for the near future. I doubt this acquisition had too much affect on their product lines.

I can't help but wonder if this has anything to do with the delays on the last 2 releases this year.

Merges are never good. It means one company or both were somehow too weak to sustain themselves.

Well, that's not even close to true. Plenty of companies that are just fine merge to make themselves even stronger. Doesn't mean they were weak.

Maybe FFG couldn't handle extra demand on its own with regard to distribution, maybe even production? We've always had shortages in stock on X-wing, and those boat rides take quite a while...

Well, I, personally, have never seen a merge that benefited anyone, especially consumers.

Yeah, especially in regard to consumers.

Marvel and LFL haven't seemed to be harmed by their acquisitions.

Yes we all love Space Aladdin.

>Space Aladdin

I give up.

Certainly curbs my spending a bit in the near future.

Why would you stop buying stuff that you like just because of wild speculation about what might happen? I really don't understand how anything we know so far would make any difference in buying habits.

I don't see any reason why they wouldn't. FFG has been a successful business so far, and only a really stupid investor would buy a successful business and immediately start making major changes. I think this exactly what the press release claims: an effort to expand and optimize the sales and distribution side of various product lines, something that has no impact on game design.

NECA buying Wizkids has shown a definite improvement in quality as far as Heroclix is concerned.

Hence personally, I never said I couldn't be wrong.

Spider-Maul and Galen Marked wonder what your point is?

While Neca did save Wizkids, I would hardly call how they "run" their games an improvement. Just because technology has allowed slightly better sculpts.

I'll concede that point, they seem to have gotten more money hungry since the buyout, but it did save the game.
