The sky is falling again ... from Wave 5

By any2cards, in X-Wing

Countermeasures.

It is a very, very good Hull Upgrade.

I predict we'll see it being used in combination with Proton Rockets on the freighters and the Firespray.

Krassis with proton rockets and countermeasures...

The Decimator Fortress might be a thing....

Cmd. Kenkirk + Isard + Dauntless Title = 50 points

RA Chiraneau + Wingman + Moff Jejerrod (or anything you fancy to spend 2 points on) = 50 points

Set up like a fortress and start doing the 1 forwards. Kenkirk moves first bumps into the Admiral and gets to action because of the Title then gets a stress. Then Chiraneau moves and bumps too, but doesn't get an action. Now Chiraneau does get a built in mini-focus at range 1-2. So in reality your action economy isn't just awful.

Combat starts and the Admiral Wingmans off the Commanders stress and you rinse repeat. Now if he targets the Admiral first, he ends up against a fully ready to go Kenkirk with Isard in the end game. Also with the Dauntless title which can be handy. If you target Kenkirk first, he gets two actions a round after he starts taking damage all the while bumping into the Rear Admiral. He will still be hard to kill while you just sit there stationary. The Rear Admiral will be hard to kill in an end game scenario as well.

I actually haven't tried this fortress out, but I think it can actually be somewhat viable. It can still be rather offensive and defensive at the same time. It scares me.

Isard has terrible synergy with the title because she doesn't work when you're stressed. However, if you run PtL, you can PtL after an Isard evade action, even if you bumped in the action phase.

If you want to bump, run Chiraneau with Isard and PtL and Kenkirk with Dauntless and spend 1 pt somewhere, maybe DtF. That way both ships get an action. And a 2 straight green will be a re-bump by definition as long as they start the turn with nubs touching nubs, not nubs touching flat edge.

Wingman on the RAdm... It lets you clear the stress off Kenkirk at the beginning of the combat phase to allow Isard to kick in. Since both cards stat: "at the beginning of the combat phase" you get to resolve them in any order you wish.

Either setup works. I think your squad makes target priority a little easier for your opponent though. You would shoot Chiraneau first to get rid of his better offense. Kenkirk is essentially naked except for the title isn't as much of a threat in the late stages of the match. With my setup it makes target priority a little trickier. Chiraneau puts out decent offense and Kenkirk can turtle. Neither is ideal to fight against in the late game.

Also in a tournament setting both ships sit at an even 50 points. Which one do I shoot first?

You can easily just put ptl and isard on kenkirk and dauntless on chiraneau, it's not a big deal.

But with your setup you get one action and use two EPT slots. With this, you get two actions and only use one EPT. It's really a no brainer.

I predict that they ship on Monday Nov 17th @ 12:45pm EST. :)

I just checked the "upcoming" section of the FFG web page. Both ships from wave 5 just switched to the status "shipping now".

I meant today at 12:22.

Dash is pretty good. He's also pretty new, which is a big part of why he is doing so well.

It's kind of funny that a good counter to dash is whisper.

Depends on the build of Dash I guess. I fly with VI on Dash and leave an almost impossible decision for Whisper. Do I Move first shoot first, this lets Dash escape me with that barrel roll. Do I let Dash move first shoot first and hope those 2 green can hold off the HLC.

The whole point is moving second so you can get in range 1 and completely negate his shooting.

It's a difficult decision vs EU Han. Vs VI Dash, there's an obviously right answer and an obviously wrong answer.
