Post count: quality over quantity!

By Plainsman, in X-Wing

I've been on forums on the internet since 1995 or 1996 and find that there are many more people "lurking" than ever posting on forums.

Why?

Because they are looking for information!

Hence, they are looking for "quality over quantity!" They will follow the guys that make pertinent posts and have something substantial to add to the discussion.

Eventually, many of those "lurkers" become "posters" if they feel comfortable in the forum and feel that they have something to add.

So some people may think "highly" of their "high" post count, but to most of the people actually reading the posts, it's "quality" that counts!

This is the first forum where I have surpassed the incredible amount of 20 posts. I usually just lurk. I don't talk enough X-Wing in real-life, so I come here :).

Your avatar always makes me interpret what you've posted in a sad way.

Im the opposite. I lurked for a year until I couldn't stand people posting inaccurate info about a certain ship... ;)

It's an intimidating avatar isn't it! :) I'm sure some take me as "aggressive" because of it too! :) Really, I'm like a big cuddly teddy bear! LOL!

I like wolves and this was the best I could find in the list here. I may need to change it...

Who, or what, are you quoting?

Well it is kind of hard to talk miniatures and table top games in real life because it is not embraced as a mainstream hobby such as spectator sports.

Now fantasy football (somehow that's a thing  ) just about anyone can talk about it because well just about anyone can talk about popular sports even though the overwhelming majority of us don't play sports. I can sit down at a bus stop and talk to a complete stranger about the Seahawks post Superbowl slump and not look like a weirdo because there is a good chance that the other person knows about the Seahawks winning the last Superbowl. Now If I start talking about a bunch of toy models on a table that we move around and roll dice over, that same person will have no idea or concept on what I'm talking about thus cannot really participate in a conversation about X-wing miniatures.

This is so true! And annoying!

My main gaming is historical and most of my efforts are on WWII. Even though its historical its tough to find many people to have a good discussion about it in public!
