Would this fleet be any good?

By Dragontalon486, in X-Wing

Hey so I was looking at some posts about putting 2 defenders with other ships, but seeing as I only have one Defender, would this fleet work?

Krassis Trelix (36)

Gunner (5)

Heavy Laser Cannon (7)

Captain Jonus (22)

Delta Squadron Pilot (30)

The Idea is to fly the firespray in formation with Jonus and flank with the Delta.

Let me know and if it can be made better then I'm all ears.

Isn't the gunner a waste if you've got Jonus there? Wouldn't predator be more viable?

Actually he doesn't have an EPT.

So an ion cannon on the Delta then? Or Engine upgrades?

Or replace Delta with 2 Academies... and engine upgrade the bomber and firespray.

I've played a Bomber/Defender/Firespray list before, And though it wasn't the worst, It would be very challenging to fly.

To free up a bit of room, just doing bounty hunter w/gunner would be the most points-efficient way to fly the Firespray.

10 points saved

Jonus wouldn't be necessary, change to gamma

4 points saved

delta's fine.

14 points yields flechette torpedoes for the bomber and an academy pilot!

or you could upgrade to rexler brath with predator or outmaneuver, and maybe add tactician to the firespray.

EDIT:

Version 1

Academy Pilot

Gamma w/ Flechette

Bounty Hunter w/ Gunner

Delta

Version 2

Gamma w/ Flechette

Bounty Hunter w/ Gunner & Tactician

Rexler Brath w/ Outmaneuver

The latter sounds like a deadly trio, I always am wary of 3 ship lists though (i've fought too many 5-6 ship builds).

Well, this is what I have;

1 Firespray

1 Advanced

1 Bomber

1 Defender

3 Fighters

2 Interceptors (Imp Aces)

2 Phantoms

2 A-Wings (1 from Rebel Aces)

2 B-Wings (1 from Rebel Aces)

1 E-Wing

1 HWK-290

2 X-Wings

1 YT-1300

1 Z

Coming Soon to the fleet;

1 Lambda

1 Y-Wing

ah, so the flechettes are not an option? perhaps Scimitar with ion pulse missiles?

I have Flechettes, just not used to using one time only attacks because my ships are destroyed before they can even fire sometimes.

Here's what i came up with.

Sexy Rexy with HLC - 44 points

2X royal guard pilots with PTL and stealth devices.

It's not my style though, and blount/autoblasters will hurt you.

I like to have 1 (something nasty) and a miniswarm, with a flanker here or there.

I'd pick up a T/F expansion and run howlie with 3 acks next to sexy rexy or the bounty hunter of your choice. If you have the points left over, up one of the acks to an alpha... i forget if you get alpha squadron cards in imp aces.

At tonight's tourney, I'm going to run

Delta

Scimitar

Howl

3 Academy's

I basically mutate my list each week to be a little different.

I would swap Jonus and the gunner for a shuttle with Vader and Avd sensors.

A simple change would be to drop Gunner on Krassis, since its not needed and upgrade the Delta to Vessery.

You could always run:

Bounty Hunter + HLC

Jonus

Delta + HLC

Actually sounds like a decent squad. Might have a bit of a problem staying in formation though. Its like Jonus and the Delts, but with an upgrade to the mighty Firespray.

I never like to field the same list twice, but that's the way I am.

Here's what I have as an example with the T/F expansion

Sexy Rexy + HLC+ predator (47)

Howlie + swarm (20)

Magic Mithel + predator (20)

Academy pilot (12)

Edit: c'mon, some likes for magic mithel.

Edit edit: an explanation on how this works. Rexy flanks / draws attention Howlie gives academy PS8. So PS is 8 8 8 7. Fairly high shooting. Alternatively, all stay in close formation unto sexy rexy white K turns and the hammer/anvil.

Edit Edit Edit: @#$% it. I'm trying this list later.

Actually I was thinking about that but I put it like this.

Krassis Trelix (36)

Heavy Laser Cannon (7)

Captain Jonus (22)

Colonel Jendon (26)

Darth Vader (3)

ST-321 (3)

Anti-Pursuit Lasers or Ion Cannon (2 to 3)

seems a bit light on firepower.

4 nicely modified dice on The 'spray, until you can't turn around fast enough, then a normal 3

2 on Jonus without re-rolls

3 on the shuttle for 2 turns of shooting, then 0 when you spend the rest of the game turning around.

This is interesting:

Boba Fett + VI + Navigator + HLC + Engine Upgrade

Rexler Brath + VI + HLC + Engine Upgrade

That will murder all Phantoms. I have double tapped Whisper off the table before he could fire with this. It is very brutal.

See the thing is that I have a friend who flies Imperial more than rebel and he told me that flying only two ships would be ill-advised, but I would like to try this at least once. :)

And how do you fly it when 103 Points? Did you mean Ion cannon on either one, cause that puts it at 99.

Two ship lists are only good against other two ship lists or 3 ship lists. Throw 4 or more ships at them and they struggle hard.

My thought is that if you're going to run a Jonus list, everything else should have a secondary weapon, so find a way to get an HLC on that Defender. Here's my example:

==================

[unnamed Squadron]
==================
Click to change squadron details
99 points
Pilots
------
Bounty Hunter (40)
Firespray-31 (33), Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
Delta Squadron Pilot (37)
TIE Defender (30), Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
Captain Jonus (22)
This setup gives you 4 dice at ranges 1-3 with the two big heavy ships. Expect Jonus to be the focus, so keep him behind the others. Try your best not to be predictable with the K turn. Jonus will allow two dice to be rerolled as long as you're in close range, so set up Asteroids so that you have lots of room (perimeter is best). Focus is the best action to take with the other two, or perhaps evade if you need to be defensive.

With Jonus and focus, you can get 3-4 hits pretty much every shot with the Defender and Firespray. You can take a lot of things out easily and you have 16 hitpoints between those two ships with decent agility.

Actually I've rethought the squad and I believe that this would be a little better but I don't know by how much. also I only have one HLC at the moment.
