THE FORCE AWAKENS

Sounds kind of cheesy, but when you think about it, so are many of the other titles. 'Attack of the Clones'? Lol

Come to think of it, lots of things in Star Wars have cheesy names, and we only give them a free pass because they've become so iconic. I mean, just stop and think about how cheesy the name 'Death Star' actually is.

The title is ok, I'm getting a Legend of Korra vibe with it, in that suddenly Force-sensitive users will reappear in great numbers, just like Airbenders did in season 3 of Korra (after being decimated previously).

Exactly. I get from it a 'Luke ushers in a new age for the Force users' kind of vibe, but in some sort of unexpected way so that you kind of suddenly have all these super humans running around the galaxy but the old stereotypes no longer fit for some reason and you can't know who is a good guy and who is a bad guy.

Basically, the title evokes some sort of paradigm shift with regards to the Force.

I don't like the title. If the force is just now Awakening, what has Luke been doing for 30+ years? He was supposed to be the first new Jedi and train others and whatnot, like Yoda and Ben trained him. Yet we still have the Empire and the force isn't yet awake? Luke needs to be fired because he must suck at being a Jedi.

Meh, doesn't effect the quality of the movie, so I'm mostly indifferent

I don't agree that most Star Wars titles are bad. Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones are pretty stupid of course. A New Hope is bad, but that title was given much later. I still just refer to Episode 4 as 'Star Wars'. So that's only two, or three if you count New Hope. Empire Strikes Back and the others are fine. Even if it ties in with the plot, which I've no doubt it will, it's still a cheesy title for the first new Star Wars movie in the new trilogy. Mreh, whatever.

Episode VII: The Force Awakens

Episode VIII: The Force Naps

Episode IX: The Force Reawakens

re: the Force being an interactive kind of entity with a will of it's own (hence an ability to 'wake'), see Palpatine's backstory in regards to Darth Plagueis' shenanigans (although that is probably technically Legends status now)

Also, for those spoiler inclined - makingstarwars.net has interesting information

I didn't like how "StarTrekIntoDarkness" was all kind of mushed together without any punctuation, so I hope that's not where this is headed. Something on such a grand scale as the Star Wars saga doesn't need that kind of brevity.

So, if it's "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens", then... okay. If it's "Star Wars The Force Awakens", then no.

Everyone knows Lucas perfected the movies when he got to Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace

I can't believe the title is actually bothering anyone.

I think they have a good thing going for the future, just think of these future movies:

The force identity

The force supremacy

The force ultimatum

The force reborn

The force legacy

The force retribution

The force imperative

The force betrayal

The force deception

The force unleashed...oh wait that one is taken...

I can't believe the title is actually bothering anyone.

You can't believe it because you think it's a good title? Or you can't believe it because it's trivial and it doesn't matter what a movie title is?

The latter. Like, of all the things that do not matter in "Star Wars", each one's title flat out doesn't.

Take your pick

I don't think the title is great. I don't think it's terrible either.

I just don't really care. It's more Star Wars, and directed by J.J. freaking abrams. All he's done that I didn't like was Cloverfield because that movie, IMO was pretty naff.

He likes the prequel movies, so his standards are really low to begin with.

Eh, I don't know. I think it does matter a little bit, for me at least. If the title, and not to mention the logo, is THIS questionable as far as quality, it makes me apprehensive of the actual film. It generally feels like a fan fiction title, and that's not a good thing. That's why it matters to me. BUT, the movie could totally blow me away and I could end up loving it. We'll just have to wait and see.

Maybe that's just the thing. From Luke's perspective, given how Kenobi had screwed up with Luke's father, he might have some qualms about training new Jedi. In the EU he certainly has those doubts, though he eventually does go through with it.

You need to stop antagonizing me.

Yea Hobo enough with the rude and negative comments against people who like the prequels already. We all get you hate them, doesn't mean you need to take it out on those who do.

Who cares what it's called.

It's another freakin' Star Wars movie.

Indeed, enough of the Prequel hate. By now you should be able to annoy Captain Lackwit without needing to resort to that. :P
