Hello all. Just wondering what everybody's favorite X-Wing extracurricular activites are. Do you enjoy list building? Painting your ships? Podcasts? The various places to take part in online discussion?
I've found that the actual game is the smallest percentage of the time I spend involved with X-Wing. Where do you spend your time?
What's your favorite way to spend time on X-Wing outside of playing the game?
Mostly I do list building because I can do it at any time on my phone. But I also listen to every podcast I can get my hands on and watch as many matches on YouTube as I have leisure time to do so, which isn't much.
Edited by GiraffeandZebraListbuilding, podcasts (there are some REALLY good ones out there), YouTube videos, forum discussions when I have something to contribute. I am going to eventually paint some of my ships, but I have a large pile of unpainted minis for other games right now that I want to get done first.
Edited by Audio WeaselListening to other X-Wing podcasts that aren't my own (constantly listening at work actually)... spending time preparing for the next podcast, list-winging (where you build several lists and decide which you like best) on Void State, going over the Wiki and reading up on those upgrades you rarely see in the game, watching YouTube Battle reports, watching the forums... then lunch...
I really think I have an X-Wing problem at this point!
EDIT: I am REALLY please to see the first two people to respond to this thread said 'listening to podcasts'! Love you guys! Thanks for the support!
Making mats, or 2d terrain like space station platforms and cargo containers for scenario games
Read forum, build lists. Read about new expansions. Practice/try-outs. :-)
I am currently working on campaign rules where you start off as a commander for the rebels, empire, or a merc. You would start off at the bottom with a handful of basic ships and equipment. Pilots would start off with a skill of 1 with a couple of 2's. As the pilots damage other ships they increase in level and gain more abilities. The more missions you complete the more credit you earn to repair ships, buy upgrades and recruit new pilots. I am also working on salvage rules as well. Kinda like the old much commander games except there would be a variety of missions to choose from with varying pay/reward rates at any given time.
I also build lists on an app on phone. Eventually I would like to paint and mod but that becomes problematic with a 10 month old. That's what I have been doing as of late.
Lately, I've been finishing an erotic fan fiction about Jan Ors, Nera Dantels, and Corran Horn called "Two Girls, One Cop." It's in the "hands free" section of Amazon Kindle.

Per the thread though, I really only tinker with lists whenever I'm not checking the forums on my phone. This place is like a bad habit haha. But I love dissenting opinions from people who are into the game as much as I am.

Some things can not been un-read.
With me it's RPG's / creating a narrative. I also still play the PC games.
Current projects:
Building up a TIE pilot suit for cons and halloween.
Working on the 128th Recon Wing as a game group for online customer XvT and XWA games. - as well as possibly using a modified NWN for ground combat scenarios where that applies.
a 4 act battle in mission control , of which 2 acts are currently completed. - The S&R mission for which I released early.
Holy crap, please post that when you're done. That sounds amazing, and I think I could persuade my local buddies into trying that sort of thing week-to-week.I am currently working on campaign rules where you start off as a commander for the rebels, empire, or a merc. i hate wanting to play this game and not being able to. its a crushing reminder that im single. =D
Single and in not significant other in your life or single as in no more X-Wing players around you?
If you are a lone X-Wing player, might I recommend Vassal my friend! I am on ALL THE TIME in the evenings!
For that other issue...I'm married...and have been out of that game for a decade at least...
Podcasts, youtube(listen only) at work. Some list-building.
