A different champion of Slaneesh

By Chrysalis2, in Black Crusade

In the centre of Slaneesh's inner circle lies a small hut, the grass around it is green and small animals occsionally come out to sniff the carefully planted saplings and pass upon the small vegetable garden in front.

On most days, like today the sun is partially in the cloud, giving that promise of a long languid day of summer with the possibility of rolling thunder and lightning in the afternoon.

Upon a low stone seat next to the path, a man with shaven pate and gray curled beard reads a small quarto with glasses perched upon his nose. He wars dun coloured robes and upon his feet are a pair of well worn sandals. Next to him lies a walking stave.

No adornments or wealth can be seen, although if one was to peer along the path away from the hut into the horizon, the alabaster walls and golden cupolas of the complex of Slaneesh would rush out to greet you.

If you did so, you would have lost and the man would go back to his book.

If you chose not to look beyond and view the man, he would smile amicably, take off his glasses and ask with the incredulous tone hat perhaps the petitioner was lost. The temple of unearthly delights was simply that way and he would point, squint and then turn to look at you.

Most people would ask what does he do here. He would shrug his shoulders and say that he is the glorified gardener of the seven circles. Occasionally Slaneesh comes around and they have a cup of tea and perhaps share a smoke. He's quite busy and forgetful, so much to do and experience. He personally prefers a nice book and a pair of wool socks on a cold evening.

At some point someone might ask, what such an unassuming man such as he is doing in such a place as this and his simple reply before shooing them out, is "I am but the Tender of Abstinence."

Nice imagery. Not sure this is really Slaanesh-appropriate, tbfh. That said, the "Tender of Abstinence" is an interesting concept within the circle of Slaanesh. As if Abstinence is some kind of invincible thing that needs to be tended to in order to be controlled.

Why the heck not. Go with it.

To pass through the seven circles of Slaneesh demands having a direction without a direct goal, to be humble and abstinent in thoughts and deeds, neither needing nor desiring anything.

However, champions of excess come with their needs to the pleasured groves of Slaanesh - inevitably failing.

There is a woman like him, and they occasionally see each other and acknowledge each other, but they never meet. You can see them individually walking through the circles, cleaning up and picking up some misplaced items to be discarded later, or then tending to the small maintenance needs of the place.

It's my way of also creating a character who can be the guide for the PCs if they were to ever set foot in this verdant Verdun.
