It still isn't worth responding to a troll, because you will ultimately accomplish nothing.Even mocking them does nothing constructive, they don't care if you mock them, because you are still giving them attention, which is the only thing they care about.@Vandor, I have to admit I enjoy being into the heated discussions of ethics ate involved.

As to the thread topic, I would say that most who let a troll get to them is because they don't recognize it is a troll until it's to late. Thems trolls can be sneaky little gits! I agree with the view that the only way to deal with a troll is to ignore them, which can be hard to do if your not adept at identifying them to begin with. Despite if you yourself are good at identifying them, it still only takes one other in the thread to take the bate and make the thread go toxic. I believe that like the unavoidable nuisance of bugs at a picnic, forums will always have the nuisance of trolls.
Why get bent out if shape to these troll posts? Because it is the internet and we cannot abide them to go about being wrong!

Of course you can. I deal with peope I detest all the time, but I still extend to them basic common courtesy.

I am always as nice to people as they will allow me to be. It is a good policy to live by, I highly recommend it for all.
I'm a fan of the "Treat other's as you want to be treated" way. Unfortunately, it often becomes "Treat other's as they treat you" way, which really doesn't resolve much, or often. One kind gesture to someone who is treating you in an inappropriate manner can sometimes have pretty spectacular effects. Just look what it did for Luke with Vader!
