Imperial Huge Ship Speculation

By Viceroy Bolda, in X-Wing

I'm simply annoyed because I bought into the Huge scene and then was left hanging. Armada feels like a bait and switch tactic to me. I never wanted ships that were so ridiculously big that they just didn't fit into a dogfight game. All I want is counterparts to the Rebel huge ships for some fun epic battles. C'mon FFG, throw us a bone or two.

Ya know, if we're getting a huge Imp, shouldn't it be a star destroyer?

Star Destroyers have little chance of working in game, but 400 meter Star Frigates on the other hand.

Doing you due diligence to stoke the fires... good man .

Hope the Vigil-Class Corvette becomes a thing! Looks awesome, and the scale looks entirely plausible.

I really like this idea. Any idea what sort of stats the Vigil would have? It should be relatively easy to convert one from existing star destroyer models.

I hope for an imperial DP20 (even though it looks like a well... massage device). It was more common for rebels and for scum, but also used by imperials and I think it totally fits within the SW universe and it was used in many of the games as well. If not, then Vigil and than maybe Gozanti. It feels more like a carrier and less like an awesome battleship. Also, don't need more ties or tie pilots, when so many other imperial ships are lacking pilot choice.

I presonally wish they hadn't done the huge ships. Maybe just the transport and then an imperial one. I've owned a transport since they first shipped, and never used it.. nor the X wing it comes with, or its cards. I got it cheap so I'm not too upset by that, as when I can get a game in I have the opportunity to use them.

This has been my experience as well; people just seem more inclined to do fighter-only games. Maybe it's that there aren't Imperial ships out there, or maybe it detracts from the "pick-up game" feel. I dunno. My large ships haven't left the hangar, though.

Selfishly, I would love a kitbash of the Vigil-class Corvette because I have one that plays into my Edge of the Empire campaign.

A Rear Admiral NPC nemesis runs his patrol fleet from an Interdictor-class Star Destroyer, but I think that'd be too large to get on the board.

Love how X-Wing and Edge of the Empire flatter each other.

Just a thought for the Vigil:

Fore 55 points

PS: 3

Attack: 4 (+2 dice if no other fore secondary fires in forward arc, +1 dice if in fore/side arc)

Dodge: 0

Body: 8

Shields: 6

Actions: Reinforce, Target Lock

Upgrades: Hardpoint, Team, Team, Crew, Cargo

Aft 65 points

Energy: 6

Dodge: 0

Body: 10

Shields: 5

Actions: Recover, Coordinate

Upgrades: Crew, Crew, Hardpoint, Hardpoint, Team, Cargo, Cargo

Dial: 1 bank gives 2 energy; 2 straight gives 3 energy, 2 bank gives 1 energy, 3 straight gives 2 energy, 4 straight gives 1 energy.

Thoughts?

So, the DP20 Frigate is totally out of consideration? It actually fits the game at the same scaling as the CR90, unlike many of those mentioned above.

I thought the DP(snicker)20 was a Rebel ship...

like massively Rebel.

The version we care currently playtesting:
