New EU Ships in X-Wing

By Dragontalon486, in X-Wing

So I was thinking about how there are many ships are in the EU lore. Which ship would you like to see in x wing and why? Also what upgrades and pilots would you like to see on those ships?

My thought is to introduce the K Wing bomber. I like the design and would be interesting if it would be a small ship or a large ship.

The upgrades i imagine it would have would be two torpedo slots, one bomb, two to three crew and possibly one to two cannon slots.

The Vigil corvette. It looks amazing and I believe it could just about squeeze in as the Imperial huge ship :)

I like fanblade fighter, tie predator, tie droid, clawcraft/tie hunter, skyhopper, and the Nu class shuttle too.

If you are going to introduce the K-Wing you better do something to that turret so its not just another rebel ship with a turret. My idea was to have it be range 3-5, so the ship would be a sniper from far away and JUST a bomber at close distance (making it very weak on its own, but great for an squadron).

I think the most clear one is the Skypray blastboat. Is not the most popular ship that they have to do, but it is pretty well known and fills a role the S&V doesnt have, a Large Ship with a turret.

Besides from some TIEs like the TIE Droid that could be a very cheap version of the TIE, or the Scimitar Bomber as a powerful bomber, I dont really see more TIEs coming out. From here on they are all versions of the TIE Advanced or the TIE Interceptor with different shapes. What would the TIE Hunter, Clawcraft, Vanguard, Interdictor, Agressor (or any other evil surname you might think) add to the game?

The thing is. Right now the rebellion doesnt really have much to add. There are ships here and there like the Ravens Claw, the Ghost, or even the Rogue Shadow.... but there arent that many more fighters in their sleeve. Unless you go to Clone Wars era or Legacy era, the rest of the fighters the rebellion uses are more related to S&V.

My theory is that the next wave will have 1 rebel ship, 1 imperial and 2 S&V (there is so much more playground for them there)

If they do a Tie Droid they should do something like IG-66 where you have droids that have all the same pilot skill and point cost just different abilities.

I am thinking 5 skill with no EPT, Firepower 2, Agility 4, Hull 3, Shields 0, points 25, no unique pilots. Actions Target Lock, Barrel Roll, Evade, (no focus actions)

Id love to see something.... different like the Droid fighters. Maybe even a Scum and Villainy squad. Some old, scavenged Vulture Droids.

Give them poor but workable stats, maybe even Tie fighter quality but make them dirt cheap, no Skills, no upgrades but being droids, can never suffer stress (or dont have Red Maneuvers so dont care either way)

How about...

Vulture Droid - PS: 2, FP: 2, AG: 3, HL: 2, SH: 0 with no red maneuvers on the dial for minimal points. Somewhere between 10-15 depending how extensive their dial is. Have a real fodder swarm.

Perhaps give them a free action Barrel Roll per turn to show their movement ability instead of just putting it into AG buffs.

Otana.

for the rebels i want to see the Kwing and this 2 base wide 1 base height thing sounds cool and interesting. u need to practice alot to handle it.

for the empire side i want to see more Tie variants !!! the more the better !!!

Tie Hunter , Tie Avenger and Tie-Aggressor plz !!

One thing I'm wondering about is another scum ship that could make use of an astromech. As far as I know, every ship that had an integrated astromech (as in one that sits in a slot on the ship), has already been used by FFG. Are there any other ships left that use astromechs that FFG could tap for scum? or is the Y-wing the only one?

Uglies maybe?

The Punishing One/Jumpmaster 5000 would likely have a Salvaged Astromech slot.

Cloudcars, TIE Aggressor, Chiss Clawcraft, Preybird, Starhunter title for Interceptor, improved Advanced (not really EU, but had to add it), Porax-38, Belbullab-22 (I know, prequels and such, but they were EU before that, weren't they?)

Edited: added more shipnames

plzzzz let there be a missile boat, assault gunboat and avenger.....rebels can keep up with the ghost, k-wing and t-wing. On a release basis of 1 imp/reb/SV per wave now that can hold us off until episode 7. Which if they are keeping basically tie-fighters x-wings etc just more modern upgraded stats wise (10 points more) then they should be compatible with this game.

Oh, I didn't know he had an astromech in that toilet seat - looking ship of his.

I really would love to see the tie-scout, I feel it would give the imperial side a good 15-30 point support ship.

Something a bit different from the space cow (that I love)

Perhaps a new action that can jam a target ship, stopping it from taking or spending a T/L or using a targeted upgrade....

Tie bomber sized version so small base.

Also could have the long probe version of the Y-wing, crew slot and a better dial with the new jam action.

Be nice to see them change up the model too, maybe mold it with it's original control surfaces on. (no Im not talking that silly looking thing from clone wars, I said original)

Tie hunter/clawcraft would give the empire an Xwing without shields. Where that fits points wise is weird since it would be an anti-interceptor.

Tie Predator just looks cool. Very tie. Probably more of an Ewing vibe. It would be a great candidate for the S-loop too.

Tie droid, likewise, very cool, very tie. I'd like to see them make it a large ship with 3-4 small tie droids mounted on it. Give you a real tie swarm feel. Could even start with 4 firepower and lose it as it loses HP. Other droid options include IG-88 style linkage, much greener dial, white kturns, no stress, ignore all other pilot talents (keep them from just being the next academy swarm with Howlrunner).

Kwing could have the first long range turret or at least a donut hole turret variant. Should be low damage but high accuracy and then a crapload of torp, missile, and bomb slots.

I'd love to see both wide and long bases. Makes ships really fly different even if thier dials are the same. Hwk would have been a great long ship.

Don't expect to see anything that requires range 4 or 5 outside of an epic release. FFG has been fairly faithful of their philosophy of only needing the core and whatever expansion you have to play something. Requiring someone to get the Tantive IV to play a certain upgrade isn't likely to happen.

Aay'han and TIE Droid.

I like all your points, but Hunters and Clawcraft had shields, didn't they?

The problem is the k wing is just another turret ship, and is way out of OT period so it might not make the transfer into the new Canon.

The starchaser class fighter was used by the rebels, it would be a z-95 style fighter with a cannon slot which I could see working well.

Imps have plenty of ships left but rebels are looking a bit thin on the ground.

The K-wing isn't that much further than the E-wing. The big issue with Rebels, is that a lot of their potential ships are freighters like the Falcon or Outrider.

K-wing might be a stretch, yeah. We don't see it until the Black Fleet crisis, which is 16 ABY (over a decade after Endor). It's possible the K-wing was around a few years before that, but that's pure speculation.

R-41 and the T-Wing are possibilities, although the T-Wing might be hard to differentiate from the A-wing. It carries torpedoes instead of missiles, but otherwise it is the same kind of fighter. The R-41 might be interesting; it could be a cheap low-agility cannon carrier. It would just have to be different enough from the B-wing, which should not be too hard.

After that, the rebels are pretty much out of fighters. There are more large base choices, but most are similar to the two we already have. But we could be looking at ships from the new movies at that point. The next wave could have just one rebel ship, and the wave after that could coincide with the movie release.

K-wing... that is about as "fugly" as you can get (IMO). I have looked at the fluff on this ship on Wookieepedia and, as has already been said, unless you make that turbolaser turret somehow different, you will just have another Rebel turret fighter...

...Only uglier!

I would much prefer a YT-2000 (aka "Otana") for the Rebs.

For the Imps, there is no doubt that my preference would be...

1. GAT-12 Skipray Blast Boat- gives Imps a large ship with turret and cannon options

2. XG-1 Starwing Assault Gunboat- possibly some sort of multi-ordnance attack ability

Agree that the K-Wing is incredibly ugly.

I would love to see the Shrike-class bomber, but that's all the way from the Legacy of the Force series.

I also reiterate my standard response for these and say that the Chiss Clawcraft would be awesome.

But the Tie Raptor would also be kinda cool.

I kinda dig the K-Wing, I'd like to see it made.

While we're on the subject of ugly ships, maybe the Wild Karrde?
