Favorite ship...

By Plainsman, in X-Wing

What is your favorite ship?

For me it is the Tie Interceptor!

Would you like to be able to have a competitive build made up of an entirely that one type of ship?

I know I'd like to be able to field nothing but Interceptors and be competitive!!

Add: I believe the Tie Swarm is the only ship that has been able to be competitive fairly consistently with one type of ship.

Already without Rebel Aces, the B-wing

It felt natural to fly right from the start.

A closer runner up is the Phantom.

More challenging than the forgiving B-wing, but also as much fun to fly!

If I would own enough, would I make an entire squad with them?

The Phantom, no

The B-wing I might consider.

Besides the Tie swarm, 4 X-Wings can still be very competitve.

Edited: spelling and grammar, again..

I cant go past the classic X-wing, even though there are some other amazing snub fighters and pilots i just have to field the X-wing.

A build i have been trying recently is;

Biggs - R2-F2 and Experimental Interface

Hobbie - R3-A2

Rookie x2

Otherwise the 3 Amigos would be my next go to.

The Decimator. Have been absolutely loving that ship, not entirely sure why.

Before that it was probably the TIE Interceptor. Generally speaking I prefer speed and maneuverability.

My first pick would be the Firespray-31 for the Empire with the Tie Defender as the runner-up.

I would like a competitive build but I only have one of each so I would need to borrow some from other players in my area.

As to my favorite Rebel ship, I really can't say. If I really had to pick one, it would either be the HWK-290 because it has a special place in my heart, or the YT-2400 cause it was one of the first ship I flew in a game outside the movie lore.

I've learned the hard way that you can't build a competitive build with only HWKs (unless someone can think of one and post it) and the YT-2400 isn't out in my area yet. (Apparently though some people were able to get it early somehow).

Fav Ship: HWK

1 ship list: No, I like list variety, and each ship fills a role.

Wrong: 2 (or 3) Falcons, 2 (or 3) Firesprays, 3 B-Wings, 4 X-Wings, 8 Z-95s

Roark - Blaster Turret, Engine Upgrade

Kyle - Blaster Turret, Engine Upgrade, Recon Specialist, Moldy Crow, Swarm Tactics

Jan - Ion Turret, Engine Upgrade, Swarm Tactics

That looks very interesting, wonder how it plays...

X wings for sure and Dash with the outsider.

Yea some of us picked up rebel aces and wave5 at gencon.

Do I really need to say at this point? :)

I'm currently 7 and 0 with it. It cleaned up a whisper and an echo build as well as Fat Han (all flown by competitive players). I haven't seen how it would go against a TIE swarm, which could give it some trouble.

X-Wings. With the exception of the Falcon they are arguably the most iconic SW ship. I love seeing them blaze around the board.

TIE fighters. Love the numbers and manoeuvres. Dont love the inevitable, for me, 3rd turn clangage centre stage but always a smile. Love Interceptors but can never have enough.

I actually have 2. The B-wing, love the tankiness of it, and the Z-95.

TIE Interceptor, of course. It's the skilliest of the skill ships, looks cool, and is fairly competitive.

For surprising maneuverability, the Firespray. It's hard hitting, fast, and tough.

I won't touch Phantoms. Not now, not ever. The old ways are the best!

Y-Wings, followed by Squints, and Void Bisons.

Do I really need to say at this point? :)

Z-95, right?

Corran. He has all the build diversity of a large ship and the double tap is such a unique and threatening ability. I think he has the highest single-round damage potential in the game. The rest of the E's are not so hot though so that's where it ends.

If I had to run 4 of the same it'd be B-wings. That 4 FCS/ Jan crew list looks pretty fun.

TIE Defender has been one of my favorite ships since I first played them way back in the old PC game days (and I had the game when it was new and on disks). I'm glad it's gotten some love with the great mini for this game as well as a LEGO set (I built my own from LEGO about 2 years before the official set came out).

On the Rebel side, I really like the B-Wing, always have, again, since the old PC game days. It was always a fun ship to fly and they are pretty good in this game. Working on mastering the B-Wing in this game now that I've got the Rebel Aces options.

I don't usually think having a squad of all the same ship is a good idea, simply because they all have the same drawback or weakness...using different types of ships can help you cover weaknesses.

For me its the Tie Interceptor i mean look at my signature 12 Interceptors in ma collection 4 times imperial aces and 4 regular ones that i recolored in ma own color sheme ( only the regular tie interceptors ).

i Love the speed, the firepower, the arc dodging and the tricks those aces bring with em.

i have a 4 Intercptors list called the Red Guard and is unbeaten so far ;P

TIE Advanced. It's iconic, and it's just a cool ship all around.

After that, I'd have to go with Bombers.. I just dig their look, those twin cylinders, and their loadouts are impressive as well.

Squints and the other classic/iconic ships are all nice, but I like those two best..

TIE Bombers are my favorite. Like oneway, I think they look awesome and they have a lot of loadout options.

I've also flown all-bomber lists, but my success with those is rather spotty. Still, there's nothing quite like a diamond formation of four bombers flying across the mat towards their target. :D

But, as said, I've had better luck with three bombers supplemented with TIE Fighters to rush forward and engage the opponent while the bombers line up their target locks and shots.

Its the Falcon - not cos its uber hard in the game, but because..well, its the falcon.. need I say more?

My favorite has to be the E-Wing. I'm not exactly sure why, but my fascination goes back a long way. Could just be some sort of underdog fascination, since it almost always plays second fiddle to the X-Wing.

It's a little hard to run EEE in the game, but I do try!

Z-95s. You can run it as a swarm if you want. Good dial, shields. The named pilots have useful abilities. Flexible enough to fill out almost any list. Overall, very good entry-level ship.

B-wing, oh wait......

Y-wings, Y-wings, and Y-wings. (Tie Advanced to!)
