Fan Art of Rexler Brath, Whisper and Echo + Fanboy fluff-love.

By Bakura83, in X-Wing

The point is its not relevant to the cool writee up Bakura did. Echo being a girl didn't need to be a point of contention. The reasonable response would be to applaud the work.

It's a lore thread on a miniatures game forum. If something appears to be incorrect it's going to come up. If he hadn't specifically called it a "scaled down prototype" I'd be asking about the missing laser cannons on the TIE phantoms.

Bakura made something great and inclusive and some people always find a way to make absolutely any article about Echo about her gender. This is about a really creative post that enriches the game. The way it always ends up about Echos gender is absolutely misogyny. Now I'm sure those men will try to make this my fault and try to burn me at the stake. It's all here, it's all online for people to see.

Bakura did good.

If this were true you'd have people going after Whisper, no? Or Howlrunner?

The only reason there's any debate around Echo's gender is because it's contradictory. Nobody gives a **** what gender Echo is, nobody is anti-female pilots, the only thing they give a **** about it being inconsistent. People want to know one way or the other. It's like back in Wave 3 where if anyone referred to Howlrunner as "he" they'd be corrected within three posts. That's not people being anti male pilots, that's people pointing out lore inaccuracies.

This is a bog standard internet discussion on lore details, just like the one over on the Edge of Empire subforum about the intricacies of TIE fighter life support. The evidence being cited? The pronouns used in articles and the FAQ. There was no sexism here until you brought it in.

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume I'm misreading your posts, but if I'm not and you're characterising anyone who disagrees with you as angry white men with a jurassic attitude to gender equality trying to purge female characters from a game of plastic spaceships despite nothing being said at any point to back up or even provoke such a view, then you do not get to call yourselves, by the actual definition of the word, feminists.

nobody is anti-female pilots

Wow you must be really new to the forums.

Quote one post. Because I can't find any. All I can find is an older thread with the same dicussion this particular lore detail with bubblepompei derailing it in exactly the same way.

So yeah, quote one post to back bubble up.

Couldn't even if i wanted to the threads were deleted by mods and the people making the comments got banned, but if you'd been around when wave four hit you'd know that.

Things got pretty nasty, and i don't need to back her up like she does not need to back me up, were adults perfectly capable of holding our own.

It's your position too, no?

I was here for Wave 4, used to go by the username of Lagomorphia before I lost access to the email my account was registered to and my account with it. I don't recall the incidents to which your refer but it sounds like drive-by trolls to me.

I did, however, find this. http://community.fantasyflightgames.com/index.php?/topic/121004-challenge-how-man-women-in-one-build/

Can you quote me an anti female pilot post from that?

What, seriously, again? Let it go guys. Whisper and Echo are whoever you want them to be. If I say they're hermaphroditic hutts, there's nothing to prove otherwise. Hell if in my head cannon Soontir is a girl, who cares, head cannon can be a weird thing. Also everyone was done with the man/female thing until mei brought it up again(seriously, misogyny? Don't go there unless you're a troll).

Just not worth it

On in-universe Imperial sexism: Only the EU made it a thing and interestingly its disappearance from EU material correlates it becoming socially unacceptable in IRL culture. I wouldn't be surprised if the new canon drops it entirely and has the Empire as xenophobic only.

EDIT: Vanor, why you asplode post? Now my post looks like less of a tangent and more of a chord. :(

Hence the inspiration for this picture. I wanted there to be an actual picture of Whisper, Echo and Rexler Brath, as I imagine them:

(By the way, I only painted the stick figure original concept - not the final product!)

Who painted the final product? I really like this piece of art.

If your head canon* says Soontir is a girl, it has some problems. Head canon can't change something that already exists. Just because in my head canon I think Luke isn't related to Anakin doesn't make it right at all. It is in the dark areas (e.g. Echo and Whisper who have no story), that head canon comes into play.

And on that note, I feel really sorry for Bakura because this thread got derailed and I apologize for any part I had in it.

Headcanon can change whatever it wants, but only in the owner. It's possible to headcanon out the prequels, for example.

It's only if you're trying to present it as possible inuniverse that it needs to fit canonical facts.

Ichisip on deviant art. You'll be seeing a lot more of her work if I have anything to say about it! :)
