Any Details about Imperial Aces II?

By devotedknight, in X-Wing

What if they released two "most wanted" type expansions. One for Empire one for Rebel. Could be like "Rogue Squadron Expansion pack" and "501st Legion Expansion pack"? I don't know much about those two units but they are both relatively well know, or at least known for casual EU fans like myself.

Maybe some sort of generic Rogue Squadron and 501st titles that give benefits to other ships with the same title. Imperial version could include new pilots and upgrades for TIE Advanced, Defender, Bomber and maybe even new pilots for a large ship like the Shuttle. The Rebel version could have new stuff for E-wings and some other ships. Would be a way to give the Rebels more Y-wing pilots or Headhunter pilots without putting out new models of those ships (since after Wave 6 most of us will have more than enough Y-wings and Headhunters). It could include different paint schemes for other ships though.

Idk, SOMETHING like that concept may be interesting. It would also be a neat way to expand the two factions without reaching too far into the stratosphere for more EU ships. Not that I have a problem with EU ships.

That's what I said about 3 months ago. except I called the expansions "Aces of the Empire" and "Aces of the Rebellion" using ship variants. (Basically, changing out the upgrade bar with different upgrades, This has a real air force bases concept, example; the F-15 A variant or the F-15 E variant.

Oh I forgot, Stars Wars doesn't have smart and clever engineers, and can only make 1 version of a spacecraft.

Totally not True.

Tie Fighters (AKA TIE LN's) had several variants, including recon, bomb aiming and bomber.

At least 3 flavours of Y-wing. X-wing had several interations in the EU. As for the Star destroyers. well.....

I just got done reading this entire thread. I pretty much laughed the whole way through.

But if you think the what-if-ing was bad in this thread, check out the Armada forum. They already have someone creating threads speculating on Wave 2, before the core set is out, before the Wave 1 set is out, etc.

Was worth a special laugh. I think the poster may have been Cubanboy in a ninja outfit. :P

Well that was unfriendly!

Yeah, it's terrible that the fighters in Star Wars don't have varients. Does anyone know what this BTL-A4 Y-Wing title is by the way?

:)

the only thing I dislike about this game is the attack/defense dice.

you get the same number of dice no matter if you are a scrub or an elite.

most games have the hit roll and then a damage roll.

IMO: if they were creating a game where 1 die roll encompassed both as it does, why not different color dice for different skill levels? the more elite pilots dice would have more hits and criticals, while the scrubs would have less.

seems reasonable to me, and that would really make your elite pilots feel elite.

The only saving grace of the game is the Star Wars Theme. If that theme were removed, the game would tank. The game mechanics leave much to be desired. JMHO

Imperial Warmachine Expansion:

Alt-paint bomber and tie fighter

Titles for droid tie, x2-7 advanced, bomber, and prisoner transport firespray (double crew, + 1sheild, lose cannon), new bombs, new missiles. Imperial only crew

If that theme were removed, the game would tank. The game mechanics leave much to be desired.

If you're talking about X-Wing... I have to wonder what if any other games you've played. Because from any sort of objective stance, the mechanics for X-Wing are pretty good. Better than a lot of the other games out there.

did you guys hear??? They're releasing Prequel stuff in wave 7!

Had me for approximately .75 of a second. But you had me.

I started this thread hoping to find some reason to continue wasting money on this game. The game is getting further from the core concept, X-Wing vs Tie Fighter. Just my opinion, but it seems the FFG is doing every thing to squeeze every penny out of the players. I do realize that there are some really hard core fans who will buy anything, "Star Wars". And I mean any

thing.

If FFG were to put panel on a turds, and call it the "TIE TURD", there are fans who would buy 4 of them!!!!

This is what I see, The game mechanics well suck!! The game doesn't have balance. (If the game were to have balance, than you could choose 100 points and there would be an even game with two players with equal skill. I'm not finding that to be true. And we all know the dice are the biggest factor in victory in this game.

"Avalon Hill" games: (Just the greatest game company before their enslavement.) (I remove my hat and placed over heart. Sad very sad.) When they made a game or an expansion it was complete and with solid game mechanics. Oh well.

I would rather play "OGRE" or "Supremacy"

I didn't fall for it.

The game is pretty balanced at 100 points, and FFG hasn't made any ships up at all, so I don't know if you just haven't read any Star Wars books, or if you hating on the books. Also, FFG isn't a greedy company at all. Look at GW if you want a greedy company.

Then the game isn't for you. I love the game and the mechanics. It fits Star Wars perfectly.

wow, dude..

All ships in thins game are from the movies, the books, the comics or video games.

Its a really well balanced game and you dont need to buy the new toys to play and still get a chance at winning.

and dice is only the decisive factor if you dont now math.

so please, go play "OGRE" or "Supremacy", just dont say the mechanic is broken just because you dont know how to to play the game.

That was totally off base and totally Wrong. I’m very knowable on how to play the game, thank you very much. I win quite often, and I’m full of surprises that even make the “Veterans” of the game scratch their heads. And I can equally well with Imps and Rebels.
