Does anyone else feel my fear?

However, Disney has told us they plan on releasing a Star Wars Movie every couple of years or so. They are also releasing a tV show right now. I think Disney is disregarding EU stuff and downplaying PT because they want to be able to build Star Wars back up from its foundation, its foundation being the OT.

Disney does not want FFG to make ships from the EU or the PT because it is going to want them to make ships from their new movies and TV shows. I am sure the future stuff will be cool.

The fact that Disney has no plan to ever stop making Star War movies means that FFG can pretty much draw from the new Disney material for as long as they want.

This was talked quite a bit in the discussion for the new Star Wars book "A New Dawn" review thread. In that thread, it was discussed how the people in charge of Star Wars for Disney (who have creative freedom) are treating all new material as canon. They are trying to avoid nullifying anything that has been done in the EU as much as possible, but it is a potential...if it messes with some new scheme they will cook up. It's also possible that they can actually take the old EU and turn it into canon. So, I think most of the EU should be OK, but there is a possibility that something could get nullified.

The movie will likely nullify a ton of the EU. Take the Vong for example, eps7 takes place not long after the Vong Invasion, and Chewie is alive. So if there's no mention of it, no evidence that it happened, then that whole thing becomes non-canon.

Same with the Emperor if they say that the Battle of Endor was the last time he was seen, that means pretty much any book with him as the antagonist becomes non-canon, because you can't simply handwave that away.

I'm not saying any of those things will happen, there's concept art of Chewie with a bionic hand, so maybe he lost that in the Vong Invasion instead of dying... But something doesn't need to be directly contradicted to be considered non-canon.

I was just reading in another post again about how FFG will never release PT ships, and that even if they did want to, Disney would never allow it. This got me to thinking... how long until Disney pulls the rug out on anyone producing further old EU stuff? Does anyone else fear this could be? I could see Disney eventually allowing licensing for collectable old EU products and cutting the licensing for any further releases on things like games. Has anyone heard of anything like this? I'm sure if this was to happen, it probably wouldn't be for some time, seeing as Armada and Imperial Assault have still yet to be released.

I'm probably just being paranoid. Please, someone tell me I'm just being paranoid!

You're being paranoid, FFG said the schedule is already out and approved for the next year or so and they said that around wave 4, so we still have some EU coming.

A part of me wishes they stopped at wave 3 and just released new abilities and subsets of existing ships. The phantom and defender could have been a special tie advanced release, as special titles that gave different stats and movement abilities.ditto for the e wing and head hunter applying to x wings and a wings. My interest in star wars extends only to tge ships from the original trilogy and while I appreciate the expansion of the mechanics of the game, I must admit the game is starting to feel watered down with all of these unknown (to me) ships coming in.

I would definitely like to see variants on the core vessels. More Pilots, more Upgrade cards, and Definitely new versions of the CORE vessels. AND MORE BOMBERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Their policy is like what they did with the EU and Clone Wars: while they aren't copying the stories they're using the EU as a massive sourcebook. A lot of the EU "stuff" will be resurrected if it isn't crazy: I'm completely confident that the Z-95 Headhunter isn't leaving Star Wars canon and it wouldn't surprise me if the nerfed TIE defender makes the cut too. Given its resurgence in games even the TIE phantom's in with a shot.

EU content and ideas get recycled if they're good, but EU plotlines are out. Things like the AT-PT and IFT-X are likely to survive, and things like the Vong are not.

To be honest, I kind of hope we don't see any Rebels stuff on the table.

FFG has a lot of releases come out soon/recently released. Fellas are just starting to get their hands on Rebel Aces, Decimators, etc. We have a whole new faction that has yet to see any table time. In addition, there are 2 completely new, yet related, games to explore.

Remember, Episode VII is just over a year away. I think we have enough to keep us entertained until then.

The rumor that Disney is burying the prequels is absolute, unsubstantiated bullsh*t. The sooner you guys recognize this, the better.

Z-95s are already canon as they are in TCW.

The only fear I feel is that I will never get my ARC 170. Hate the trilogy though I do, the Clone Wars series really makes me want to see some Clone Wars expansions, or a parallel game.

Fear leads to anger

Anger leads to hate

Hate, leads to suffering.

I was looking to see if someone had already beat me to posting this....Good job.

I was waiting to see how long it would take for someone to post that. I'm not REALLY worried. There is enough in the game now to keep me content...ish. But I would like to have more. I have no issues with the new canon mixing into the game. The more variety the better, IMO. I'm sure Disney won't pull the rug out from under the game, especially while its doing well. But I still can't help this nagging feeling that it could happen. Money wise, I would bet that the money Disney is making off this game is a minor fraction of what they have coming in from the Star Wars franchise. If they did decide they didn't what new canon mixing with old EU and really wanted to market their new Star Wars image, I highly doubt they would have much concern over this game. But I'm sure things will be fine.

I don't think anyone said anything about Disney burying the PT.
