Best passenger for bwings

The upcoming 'Stay on Target' isnt a bad shout for Keyan either if youre saving points. That extra movement option, with Tactician and Enhanced Sensors make him a decent Phantom hunter too (unless they out PS him) though a little pricey at 37 points. Maybe a nice even 40 if you give him an Ion Cannon to really lock them down.

A phantom will always out-PS Farlander unless Farlander takes VI, since the only relevant phantom setups are PS 8 and PS 9. This makes SOT a pretty bad choice unless you have the anti-phantom role covered elsewhere and are only planning to use Farlander against lower-PS targets.

Yeah which is what i figure but its still not a bad option for hunting down those faster ships, even Phantoms if you have Roark in the Party and hes showing up alot more often these days.

I've like Jan on the B-wing flying with Biggs (R2F2),Cracken, and Garven.

Biggs moves and R2 gives him an extra Agility dice. Cracken then shoots and gives Biggs a free action...taking a Focus...then Jan turns that into an Evade. Garven then uses his Focus and passes that on the Biggs.

Now you get to shoot Biggs who has 4 dice, an Evade, and a Focus to counter you with.

Of course this starts to fall apart if your facing higher pilot skill. They shoot Biggs dead before you can do the Token Dance. Depending on the PS you can counter that with a Blue B and give Crack 'Swarm tactics' to boost Garven to PS8. Or Veteran to let Crack shoot first and at least pass an action (focus to Evade) at PS10.

Wouldn't Opportunist on Keyan be counter productive since Keyan likes stress and Opportunist requires NO stress.

Opportunist gives you stress for Farlander to spend. You declare your shot, use opportunist to add a die and receive a stress token, and then use Farlander's ability to remove that stress token and change any eyes to hits. You start and end the turn without a stress token since you get it and then immediately get rid of it.

Did you mean Intelligence Agent instead of tactician? Otherwise, Stay on Target goes with Enhanced Sensors like milk goes with absinthe.

Not sure why?

Enhanced Sensors just means you get your own Action before Stay on Target slaps on that Stress Token. Not sure why Tactician would make any problem with that?

Or since Biggs is skill 5 you could take the focus action first and then turn it into an evade token with Jan (crew)

Looking back Chewbacca (crew) and R2-D2(crew) could work wonders.

Once a B-wing shield is down then it is pretty much at the end of it's life. Chewbaca allows you to gain a shield and discard a damage card (even face up). You get 2 more hit points on an 8 hit point ship. That is sort of like making it 6 shields 4 hull.

R2-D2 is best used before you start to take damage or else you risk the side effects of the little droid. However the B-wing doesn't have as much hull so the side effects more likely won't be as bad. Also you don't have to discard Ar-too

Enhanced Scopes do go with SoT like, well, my the one i have personally experienced is bailey's and vodka... .

I suspect we are talking about Advanced Sensors which clearly work rather well with B-wings performing red manoeuvres. In point of fact the B with stay on target is pretty mean really isnt it? Choice of 5 places to be at speed 2 with an option to barrel roll or k-turn... ouch.

Oh upcoming birthday and christmas could be good for my x-wing addiction...

I spent most of thoughts on that card looking at Porkins, R5-D8 and his hull upgrade and feeling rather pleased but the B's have it better i think.

Sorry yeah i meant Advanced Sensors.

On B-Wings (and any other ship without a way to drop stress) SOT is ok, but can be difficult to drop the stress for the following turn so you only end up using it every other turn. Infact id probably not bother on anyone but Keyan or another that can deal with Stress (like Porkins).

With generic B-Wings, I like the HLC + Gunner combo. With Keyan, Kyle is great. Especially if you also have a Hawk or Falcon with Jan crew, to get the free evade on the B-Wing.

If we're moving the discussion to which EPT to put on one, I do like the idea of opportunist on Keyan, in which case Gunner does sound like a good bet. I would never choose Recon. Spec. without Jans nearby to turn it into an evade.

If we're in the future and you have Stay on Target (which again is great on Keyan) then Navigator, surely!

Or high pilot skill A-Wings? Of course, on anyone but Tycho. that would mean you couldn't PTL...

Edit: And of course, on Tycho you could never do a red maneuver cos you'll always be stressed, so yeah, OK, maybe not on A-Wings, at least not unless you think it's worth dropping PTL altogether and taking Predator or Outmaneuver.

It sounds cool to basically let Keyan more or less ignore his bar but i think Navigator with SOT is a waste as you can, at best use one or the other which may cover all options, but i think the ability to pick a 'safe' speed and then change direction is far more useful. The choice i put up (Tactician) was simply to give his attacks more bite but if you want more maneuverability then id thnink Intelligence Agent is the way to go.

Like i said, i think SOT is designed for those Pilots that can really handle stress and even then, as you pointed out with Tycho, even his ability isnt enough to fully deal with it. SOT is designed as a 'Once every other turn' kind of ability unless you have pilots designed to 'use it'.

Its situational, i just think with the right build, on Keyan its brutal.

I must have missed something - why can you only use one or the other? Surely it allows you to pick any manoeuvre every turn (assuming you get rid of the stress) like Fettigator?

So youre saying you could use Navigator to change the speed and THEN change your heading with SOT?

I hadnt thought of it that way.
