Errata time

By Redblock, in X-Wing

New Faq is up. In the news - lone wolf fixed so it works, autoblaster laughts in the face of C3PO, and stay on target split uo with navigator.

They also ended the debate on farlander. :D He plays just like Garven only with stress tokens instead.

Seems Autoblaster laughs in the face of everything. The defender cannot cancel [hit] results with dice or evade tokens or C-3PO.

You can still use Stay on Target with Navigator, though. It's just a guaranteed red maneuver.

What did they change about lone wolf?

Nice! I've always wanted to like autoblaster, but with evade tokens canceling hits it just wasn't worth using. Kinda curious to start using it again now

What did they change about lone wolf?

Now it specifies that it means another friendly ship.

What did they change about lone wolf?

Lone Wolf use to work as long as there were no friendly ships at Range 1-2, which makes it nonfunctional if you're friendly to yourself. Now it works as long as there are no other friendly ships at Range 1-2.

So anyone know if this makes Autos less overcosted?

So anyone know if this makes Autos less overcosted?

Well, it definitely makes them a bit more powerful. But as others have pointed out (there are a couple of Autoblaster threads now), the major limitation has always been the range restriction, and that hasn't changed.

I might argue that they're on the cheap side now...

So we wait for the auto turret :D

So I didn't have a long look at it but how does navigator not work with stay on target anyone? I thought it just meant that navigator can't make SOT's red maneuver white again.

That's exactly how it works. Stay On Target now basically says that whatever maneuver you end up with after using it is red (regardless of other modifications to the dial, including Navigator).

What if you're an ally but just mean to yourself and not friendly? Find it silly they had to clarify lone wolf, did anyone really have any doubt what it meant by the title and text?

Never underestimate the lengths some people go to to win...pure RAW rules lawyers suck

It's more along the lines of trying to keep a clear structure across multiple cards. If on one card "friendly" means "ships on your side but not you" and on another card the same term means "ships on your side including you", then no one knows what to do with the next new card that uses the term "friendly".

This bit of errata keeps "friendly" meaning just one thing, regardless of which card you're looking at.

Awesome! Thanks!

Agreed...I had an encounter like this the once with during a proxy of that card. Opponent tried to argue my ability could never trigger based on the way it was written, regardless of obvious designer intent.

I said I understood but tried to appeal to his common sense, but he acted like there was nothing he could do and it was "out of his hands." We probably wasted five minutes on the topic.

Since my free time is limited, I said some extremely rude things to him and now refuse to play a game with him. I play board games to interact with people, not robots and lines of code. I know it is just a game, but if people feel a need to act like that, I'd rather not interact with them. Death could find us at any moment, why waste it?

The fact that you were using a proxy card makes me thing this was a friendly game. If someone is that much of a jerk in a friendly game, I definitely would not play with them anymore.

You should have just asked him to prove that a ship can be within range 1-2 of itself. Until this FAQ, he couldn't.

What did they change about lone wolf?

If you wanted to rules lawyer, you could have argued it didn't work because the ship it is on is both "friendly" and "in range" of itself, so you could never meet the condition of not being range 1-2 of of a friendly ship.

Now it specifies that it means another friendly ship.

Whoever made that argument probably a difficulties seeing as how their cranium was crammed so far up their own posterior.

I'm not even sure how they saw the table
