You challenge the Devil to a game of X-Wing for your Soul. What do you Fly?

By Darth Ruin, in X-Wing

At the end of your wicked life the Devil comes to collect your soul. But you're prepared. You whip out your X-Wing case and challenge him to a game. He's come prepared himself, however. He even has Wave 5 ships from GenCon. With your current collection, what will you play?

(You don't know the Devil's list in advance and he doesn't know yours, but being the Devil he will probably use C3P0.)

Haven't you heard Spanish Train? The only way to beat the devil is to flip the table and lance him with a sharpened range ruler.

You're playing the devil for your soul.

I don't think it would matter what one takes, you'll face loaded dice illegal lists and dodgy rule interpretation.

Whoa do you even know how many people he's said to have killed in the bible 3-10, god kills 2,821,364 so ask yourself who's the one you should trust?

Seriously not the place for this.

I agree but the threads started now so its too late.

Or you could let it go and continue on with the semi fun spirit of the thread, which is really a discussion on "if you could only play one list in one game in order to win something really really important" couched in fantastical and slightly colloquial terms.

I'd appreciate it, personally. I'm enjoying seeing what people say and why. :)

6 Black Squadron TIEs with Predator

Night Beast

You guys are totally missing the obvious picks: Virgil, Beatrice, and St. Bernard.

I dun get it. :(

I dun get it. :(

You're not meant to; the will of god is ineffable.

Nuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu. I cannot stand not knowing something! ARGH.

Eh, wait, what was I talking about?

Oh, right, i get it now. Derp.

Back on topic, what would be the single most important lynch-pin to an all comers list?

Fat Han - its just consistent.

First, can I have a coach? ;) If so, can I have two coaches -- one named Sam and the other named Dean?

Honestly, though, it's a tough question. I play with too many lists to be happy with one. My best list has been Jax/Brath/Backstabber, so that's probably what I go with.

Wedge, Tycho with Chardaan and Push the Limit, Wes with Swarm Tactics, and Bandit.

Yeah, but you know the devil doesn't play by the rules so you have to face a Fat Han plus Phantom list.

Bwahahah. Not sure if the coaches are for their expertise, or if its because their rampant and repeated race for the grave probably saves you, but love the reference.

Unstoppable force meets immovable object level shenanigans.

Trick question, there is no such thing as a devil or a soul.

If there was a devil, he'd probably cheat, bing the lord of deception and master of the material world (assuming we're talking about the christian/muslim version here), so he'd be rolling all crits, every roll, without focus or target lock, and he'd be able to reset his maneuver dials with his will alone after seeing your maneuver, so he'd dodge every arc and alway have a shot lined up.

It'd probably be best to just kick him in the nuts for being an eternal, infernal jerk, and get it over with.

I'd have to fly Soontir Fel - especially if this hypothetical meeting occurs after that sweet alternate art card comes out next year :D

Soontir Fel + Push the Limit + Targeting Computer is a pretty standard build for me. Whether I go Hull or Shield Upgrade depends on how many points are left after deciding on the rest of my squad.

Reminds me of Red Dwarf and Lister arming up to whack Death when he came for him.

Or we could not bring religious topics up in a forum about a miniature game when its a known sore topic with some people.

Me i was just playing devils advocate.

Or you could just be Chuck Norris.

True fact:

Chuck Norris sold his soul to the devil for his rugged good looks and unparalleled martial arts ability. Shortly after the transaction was finalized, Chuck roundhouse kicked the devil in the face and took his soul back. The devil, who appreciates irony, couldn't stay mad and admitted he should have seen it coming. They now play poker every second Wednesday of the month.

I don't believe in Chuck Norris.

I don't believe in Chuck Norris.

That's just because you've been deceived by the aanti-Chuck.

I would go 58pt Dash and Corran with R2-D2, VI, FCS
