So I was looking over the World's page and I couldn't find any information on a Lord of the Rings event. I know it's not a competitive game, but even an exclusive encounter deck would be cool.
No Lord of the Rings events at all for Worlds?
I posted a thread at CardGameDB a while back about possible LOTR LCG play at Worlds. There will be a group of players around who are looking to play some LOTR. I am primarily going to Worlds to play SWLCG and AGOT LCG, but will also have LOTR materials with me and will be looking for people to get in some games with.
The guys from CardBoardoftheRings podcast and/or The Grey Company podcast may also be there. I am not sure.
Sadly, The Grey Company is spread out across the US, so we will not be able to attend Worlds. We will be with you in spirit!
I'm wondering where the list is for the Barrow Downs event this weekend!

That is the most powerful sphere. ![]()
I'll try to cover Lore by tweeting useful and interesting things about all things Worlds.
Edited by divinityofnumberRight now it doesn't look like I'll be going, unless I can scrape up money for a plane ticket
I am coming to worlds and would love some LOTR. We played Barrow downs at our store today. It smoked us. Fun quest!
I will bring my decks!

Can you tell more about that quest?
Here is an email I send asking about Worlds for LOTR. Here is the head event coordinator reply.

Hello Aaron,
At present we don’t currently have any programming planned for Lord of the Rings: The Card Game, but if enough people showed interest, we might be able to clear the space for an LotR meetup. I should note, such a meetup would not include any new or Worlds-specific promos, but we could make space for an older Nightmare Deck or similar, plus, developers Caleb Grace and Matt Newman will be around to help judge other tournaments if you would like to meet them - they are always glad to say hello to fans of LotR.

Yeah some barrow downs spoilers would be fantastic =p
All of the Barrow Downs spoilers would be fantastic...
It is a really fun scenario. My 4 player group played it yesterday at a Fellowship event. We lost the first game, but beat the scenario on our second attempt.
That's cool, bro. Any specific info, maybe?
Well, I don't want to spoil anything for those who haven't played it yet. But, it does a great job of being thematic and making the players feel a bit lost, and also some quite brutal enemies. There are some mechanics that make players feel isolated at times, which was really fun. There have been scenarios already where players can get split into separate staging areas and can't interact with each other, so that is nothing new. The Barrow Downs has potential for that to happen to people. It also has a neat mechanic where each person reveals "their own" card from the encounter deck (but there is still a common staging area) and if it has the keyword "peril" it means that no one else can help you; it will have some effect on the person who revealed it and other players cannot cancel it, etc.
Peril was already in the Black Riders, and I have already said this. What's with people forgetting about it?
Because if you only play solo every card is peril anyway, so it's easy to forget.
Yeah I remember someone thinking it was brand new for the old forest as well.
It was a very thematic scenario, but it really hurt in four players when you don't know the cards (what to counter and what to kill fast).
Almost all our tables lost, and mine has lost because we were doing well...
If we were doing it a second time, I think the success rate will go up a lot, but it has also mechanics so that overspecialised deck will failed. Wich a lot of tables did because every tables was deckbuilding with their teamates.
Let's be honest there, if someone plays blindly against the quest he has no info about and wins - it's either a generic quest (the likes of which are many around), or a pure luck.

Or, four people who have been playing since day one and brought their most fine-tuned and powerful decks.

I'm not just talking about Peril. The scenario has a lot of other things going on as well. I just don't want to spoil everything.
