How effective is a firespraywith a minni swarm
firespray
I think it could be solid if you use howelrunner
Im thinking sething like this
Fett vi rebel captive engin upgrade
Howlrunner vi
Backstabber
Dark Curse
That's what I fly most of the time and I think it offers great balance. I'm relatively new to the game but got 6th at a local tournament with Krassis + HLC + Rebel Captive, 3 x AP, and Howlrunner.
I think the most important thing is to figure out what kind of Firespray you want to fly. I suggest adding some defensive upgrades like Recon Specialist, Rebel Captive, and/or Engine Upgrade (especially if you don't go with HLC builds).
A mini-swarm of 3 AP's or Obsidians with Howlrunner is pretty self-sufficient and is effective against most ships. They're weakest against Phantoms, but luckily the Firespray is one of the best Imperial counters available. If you keep the swarm in formation, you can treat it like a separate second large ship. But I've found that against Phantoms, it's important to fly unpredictably to block and let your Firespray do the shooting.
Thanks for the replies i only have 3 ties right now.

You are relying heavily on predicting the enemy movement with little ability to dictate it somewhat here. Couple that with the fact that you get the most out of Howlrunner the more shots you take, and I would say you would be best to swap out Backstabber and Curse for 3x Academies. You will need to cut points of course, but Howlie doesn't need VI, and the rest would be choice.
FIRESPRAY-31: · KRASSIS TRELIX

It doesn't take up a large portion of the meta game any more, but it does still hold up competitively.
The first squadS I had real success with were:
Krassis (HLC)
Howlrunner
Obsidian x3
And
Bounty Hunter
Howlrunner (Determination)
AP x4
They were a solid match for the Han Shoots First list my friend was running. I haven't used them in a really long time though.
I switched to:
Bounty Hunter (recon spec, or weapons eng.)
Scimitar x4

A mini-swarm consisting of 4 (often with Howlrunner) to 5 (without Howlrunner) TIEs.

You could also fly two Firesprays if you don't want to do the mini-swarm.
There was a really well-written article by World Champion Doug Kinney that shows you a lot of squad and upgrade options available to the Firespray. Keep in mind that it might not fully take into account the new Phantom & Fat Han meta, but I usually refer back to this article for ideas.
Hope that helps ![]()
Krassix HLC rebel captive
Howlrunner
x3 Academy pilots
Is another variation.

And if you trust 100% in your piloting skills you can go with the glass cannon variant:
Krassis Trelix — Firespray-31 36
Heavy Laser Cannon 7
Rebel Captive 3
Carnor Jax — TIE Interceptor 26
Push the Limit 3
Royal Guard Pilot — TIE Interceptor 22
Push the Limit 3
That wouldn't be firespray + miniswarm
But i actually prefer
Krassix + HLC + rebel captive
Soontir + push the limit
Omicron + vader
I think for about 6 months last year it was THE go to Imperial list after TIE Swarm.
It can be very effective.
Im not competitive we normaly play casualy at my locals the thing im haveing teouble with is duel falcons
I would say the mini swarm would work fine with the firespray. I do not endorse putting the heavy laser cannon on them though because of the rear firing arc.
And although wave 5 isn't out yet I would suggest this (I'm also eager to try it out myself)
And if you don't like Boba you can change him to Kath and upgrade Night Beast to Dark Curse/Backstabber.
I strongly disagree. The HLC is great on the Firespray, especially Krassis. I've had good success in getting HLC shots.

True, but it hits harder, and falls apart faster. ![]()

Another Firespray. If that's not enough - two more Firesprays!

It's great when it works, but it's a gamble - often (for example against highly manoeuvrability opponents) you end up using your rear arc a lot, which is a total waste of the HLC.
What about a firespray and a buzzsaw shuttle?
I'd say ignore Fett. He's expensive and his ability doesn't justify the cost.
I fought a Firespray list with mini-swarm last week, played two games, beat it twice... I think the main problem is that players think the Firespray is a Tank and it's a bit more fragile than that, oh and it's a magnet for shooting.
If you are using your rear arc more than the front, than that is pilot error, not the ships.
