Scum preview article up!

I do not mind being a hypocrite. Just like everybody else.

I do mind buying more than 4 scum Z95's when I already have 4.

If you have a problem with that? Fine by me. let's never play. ;)

In this case, since the only place we'd ever be likely to meet is in a large FFG tournament (since we live on opposite sides of the world and all) I can trust that you won't be in that tournament, so it's a non issue.

You can draw the line wherever you want for you personally, and that's fine. I honestly don't love the decision myself, but it is what it is, and the tournament rules are what they are, and you pretty much respect them or you don't. For me as a player, I'll respect it for the same reason I respect (though don't like) the requirement that I buy extra ships I may not want to get cards I do, rather than printing them. When I run events, I'll respect it and require it for the same reason I don't allow printed cards in my events, even though they'd serve the exact same functional purpose, just as wrong-faced dials would.

It's entirely up to you - if you think boycotting events over the dials is the right thing to do, power to you. But my point was that there's no functional difference between using the wrong dials and printing cards.

Peregrine thinks that means I only care about FFG's profit margin. Given that I'm quickly coming to look at his disapproval as indicative - if not an outright requirement of - good character, I can live with that.

I'm still wondering when it was announced that they are the exact same dials. I must have missed that article. Nobody outside of play testers and FFG knows so everyone may be getting all fired up over nothing. You know what they say about assumptions, which is what we have here. Assumptions that are insisted are right....because? Well who knows why, maybe some people just need things to argue over. Me....I'm gonna wait and see and buy them anyway. Because it's an awesome game.

For most people the only time having the faction correct dials will be required is at official tournaments, I doubt anyone would care in a casual game. If you don't want to buy more than 4 headhunters per faction, just play a different list at those events. I really don't see why this would be an issue for anyone. Also, the Z95 isn't the only swarm ship in the faction, you might find you like a mixed Z95 & Scyk swarm better, or a pure Scyk swarm. It's too soon to tell, and we don't know enough yet.

Poster used slippery slope. Its not very effective!

*pokemon theme song*

Not actually a slippery slope argument. I didn't argue that if we allow mixed dials now we'll soon be allowing photocopies or hand-written cards, which would be the normal form of the slippery slope.

The point I was making is that any line you draw and say "It's OK to use this incorrect component, but not that incorrect component" is going to be entirely arbitrary. All of Peregrine's uselessly insulting distractions aside, there's really no reason why it's out of bounds to expect people to buy correctly-marked dials - even ones that are identical on the inside - but acceptable to require people to buy a Firespray just to get a Stealth Device. Any argument offered for one applies just as well to the other.

So not a slippery slope argument, merely pointing out self-centered hypocrisy.

Yeah, how dare they use the same dial with a different picture on the too. Next thing we will be allowing people to use the A-wing Rebel Aces repaint as REGULAR A-wings. My God.

Dont even get me started on conversions and repaints. Just last week someone was brass enough to fly a black painted x wing. I was so offended I dropped my monocle.

Great Scott! *drops his monocle*

Heh. The funny bit is that I run our local event. I have no need nor desire to boycott this.

Just FYI; I do not own the shop. Nor am I paid to run events.

Just somehting I do to promote the hobby and hopefully attract new players.

Nitpicking about a logo on a dial is in my humble opinion not the way to go to promote a hobby.

II do require the cards to be 'correct' and accept no photocopies though.

Perhaps I am pickier than I give myself credit for. :D
