Have they missed an important word from the Salvaged Astromech? "faceup"
"When you are dealt a Damage card with the SHIP trait....."
Unlike Determination.
Damage cards don't have a trait unless they're face up, so it's redundant to say face up.

a swarm of z-95s with Feedback Array would positively destroy phantoms, then be very predictable for one turn. (worth it?)
Pretty sure that's an early war paint scheme, and they were running them in a dark green late war. I prefer this one, thoughWith the Deadman's Switch upgrade, I wonder just how hard it would be to paint my Z-95s to look like this....
It is early war. I figure that would be the easiest one to use on Scum Z-95s because they come painted grey already. Just paint the "meatball" over the Black Sun insignia and the nose black and there you go.
I can definitely see the fun and talk about the other illicit upgrades, but so far the clear winner for me is still inertial dampeners. It's tactically fantastic.
I have a tough time seeing IG-2000 without it. It is already going to be tough to dog fight with the large base.
I think it'll be good on the viper with virago title too, since that will let you advanced sensors, then stop. So your a shuttle that can really move
Seeing all these salvaged astromechs makes me wonder: is there going to be another scum ship that can take these droids? Or will it always only be y-wings? I don't know of many scummy ships in the EU that have droid slots.
Lots of people don't take R2 Astromech on their Rebel Y-wings, because while it's a helpful upgrade, skipping it is an easy way to make room for something else in your list. I suspect the Unhinged Astromech will be in a similar position. So when do you not take Unhinged Astromech? That's an amazing power for just one point. I suppose if you're taking 'Genius' to Y-Bomb?Really want to see those Y-Wing pilots now and see what this all costs.
I think I'd be okay with it just being Y-Wings - especially if FFG releases Scum Y-Wing and Z-95 'standalone' expansions (hopefully with yet another paint job).
It was supposed to be a 'workhorse' fighter, but the Rebels have access to so much better hardware it hardly gets used anymore outside of fairly niche roles. Having the Scum faction utterly rely on it would be...a nice touch.
*Cough cough* V-wings *Cough cough* Arc-170's *Cough cough* Eta-2's.

I hope you are right! That would be fun
I think the Hot Shot Blaster is going to be pretty interesting for Interceptors and Phantoms. Load up a Z-Swarm with them and they might be able to hold off or shoot down quite a few ships.

The only problem with most of them is...where do they fit in the lineup?
FFG has already stated they can't do an 11-point ship, owing to the obvious balance problem with that (9 ships possible in a 100-point list). And we have TIE Fighters and Z-95s doing a pretty good job describing the options at 12-14 points. I can't imagine an Eta-2 or V-Wing coming in at more points than a Z-95 or TIE Fighter, though, so...
(Now, ARC-170s...I could see some variant of those, maybe. 3 crew is, after all, a bit over-staffed for piracy operations)

Dengar used an astromech in the Punishing One. If we get a Jumpmaster 5000, I bet it comes with a Salvaged Astromech slot.

When I was designing my homebrew Punishing One that was something I was trying to fit in but I didn't want R2D2 to be allowed. The Salvaged Astromech fixes that perfectly, and I'll be really surprised if they don't make it for S&V.
anyone seem The Wind Rises?

That would honestly be the most bad-ass Z squad ever.
Dangit. All of these fun idea about losing and blowing your own ships up is making me want to buy this stuff even though I thought I probably wouldn't.
Seriously... Can you think of something more fun than trying to lose on purpose in an awesome fashion?
I want to see all the explosions in the sky
Reading the article again I noticed someting. The article says 5 astro upgrades. We have only been shown 3. Does that mean the others aren't salvaged Astros?
I wonder, can a player fire on his own ships? Just imagine a pirate Z-95 with 1 hull left trying to zoom into an enemy formation only not to receive a single shot as they don't want the damage. I feel that I should be able to fire on him with one of of my other ships to force it to activate, which works pretty well thematically.
On the contrary.
They are pirates, not kamikaze. This is not "suicide for greater good" device. This is "hurt me and this will hurt You too(, and if it wil kill a bunch of my friends, .... happens, I'm dead anyway)" type of device.
So if Your enemy decides it is not worth shooting at You and it will save Your pilot skin - this works pretty well thematically.

I really hope this faction won't be too OP, otherwise it ends up ruining the game...
Also, get ready for a lot of mirror matches since everyone is gonna play as the Scum..
I'm not too worried. Oh sure, I'll be buying it all - but I'll still be flying imps.

No, i beleive there is a generic R4 Astromech which will be salvaged as well, and a Named R4 unit as well.
These can be seen in the spread in the previous article

Can't see why ETA should be cheap. It was top quality fighter after all.
It might have TIE fighter stats with Interceptor dial and skills, astromech and heavy weapon slots (It has base Ion cannon after all). Illicit tech maybe...

Not everyone jumps ship as soon as a new faction comes out and could just have no interest, and nothing so far strikes me as OP heck my Jonas list could potentially kill two z95`s a turn at range two and three making dead man backfire badly.
A new faction will shake up tournaments as well because just building for falcons and phantoms will leave you wide open for an inventive scum list.
Does the inclusion of the Binayre Pirates make it seem likely that Kath is one of the unrevealed FS pilots? Are we going to get all 3 in S&V versions or are there other candidates?
