Scum preview article up!

I've updated X-Wing Companion with all the new cards: X-Wing Companion

You make me wish this ipad were an android tablet. And chance of an ios version?

I have an iOS version, but I can't release it. Apple won't accept it without FFG's approval (because of the images) and FFG said they can't give me official approval.

So, no, I don't see an iOS release happening anytime soon :(

I'm planning a web version though. That should be accessible to anyone on any device.

get a bunch of Z95s all with Dead Man Switch, group them together and rush them into the enemy forward 4. When Z95 #1 dies, he explodes, dealing everybody 1 damage, including all your other Z95s. Then Z95 #2 dies from it and explodes, killing Z95 #3 which then explodes, and you get this chain reaction going, and you will lose all your Zs in exchange for blowing everything in that area 4-5 uncancellable damage

Thats exactly what I was thinking. Have 1 ship as my main ship and then kamikaze a bunch of dead man switch zs into the enemies formation. If they attack me, they will just harm their own ships.

Going to be hilarious fighting a "Fat Han" build with those. Just tailgate the Falcon - bumping into it...into each other...who cares! Just a pile of 4x or 5x Z-95s banging around right next to it..."shoot me! C'mon- SHOOT ME! You got that fancy 360 turret - I know you've got the shot. SHOOT! SHOOT!! DO IT DO IT DO IT!!!"

Feedback array and Deadman Switch both have me thinking that I need to make a fleet of Reavers when it releases.

I am not overwhelmed by any of these cards, save the named Z pilot. Him with cluster missiles will be a ton of fun. 5 dice homing missiles also found a nice home with PtL.

The ability to bump and drop bombs seems like a good option, particularly with proton bombs.

The unhinged astro turns the Y dial on it's head. Really interesting because you have more options for running rings around an opponent and shooting them with turrets. Will be interesting to see if scum Y pilots have EPT's because PtL or opportunist might be nice combos with it.

The last thing that strikes me, is that how much would Fat Han like to be able to have 3 explodable Z's to run interference at the start of the match? They are going to die any way, so trying to tack on as much damage as you can early only makes Han's job easier. Will be interesting to see if there are any Fat Han-like builds for scum. IG-2000 definitely has the offensive (though without the 360 degree arc) prowess and potentially the defensive too, with focus/evade/boost all native. No crew options might be limiting though.

IG-2000 is also a Large base with only a front arc. It's going make things interesting.

why not have a Z swarm with deadman switches and assault missiles.... :| you shoot at an enemy ship near your swarm do 1 damage to a z with 1 damage left and boom all the other Z's next to it explode in a glorious bloodbath :D and the one not stuck in the explosion flies away laughing

People are talking about Deadman or Feedback Swarm, but you only get 2 of each in the IG2000 expansion. So unless you plan on buying 4 of them and 4 most wanted boxes, you can't do it outside of casual.

a z with 1 damage left and boom all the other Z's next to it explode in a glorious bloodbath

Again, how are you going to get a bunch of suicide z's all reduced to 1 damage left at the same time? Especially if your opponent is deliberately trying to avoid range 1 shots?

Now, a bunch of suicide Z's going after a ship with anti pursuit lasers could be hysterical.

They're going to do Most Wanted last, aren't they?

They're gonna make me wait right up until near release to finally see what the BTL-A4 Y-wing title says...

Although if that is the order they intend to go in, StarViper is next. And that means we finally find out what this Autothruster card does.

Well, the IG-2000 title was already telling us you had to buy more than one, so I'm okay.

Its atleast one more than will fit in a standard game, possibly 2.

I was, in fact, planning on 4 IG-2000s, so that works.

Yeah, 4 Iggy's will be an Epic only affair. I'm fine with that. So sign me up for 4.

I can't wait to block/bump somebody and then trigger Feedback for the kill.

None of these suicide ideas will hold in tournament play either since the margin of victory exists. One Z can easily be the difference between a modified and unmodified victory.

Ok - who can I get to do aa N'dru paint scheme for me?

Feedback array sounds like a scum version of Vader (crew)

So new Boba wants to be at Range 1of the enemy formation. My first run with New Boba will be with Recon Spec for durability and Dead Man Switch so they cry when he dies and takes one or two ships with him.

I was really excited when I saw it in the spread image and it turned out to be exactly what I'd hoped. The applications are hilarious.

A lot of the Scum identity reminds me of the Orks in 40k.

They want to be up close in a fight with all kinds of fun and kill-y abilities that are as dangerous to your own force as it is to the opponents.

I got a feeling I am gunna love Scum and Villainy!

Y-wings get bombs FOR FREE!!

Cannot wait for this to come out.

Subhunter Gold squadron. Gold Squadron Pilot + Autoturret + Flechet Torpedo + Bomb Loadout + Proton Bomb.

Or scum subhunter + genus.

Have they missed an important word from the Salvaged Astromech? "faceup"

"When you are dealt a Damage card with the SHIP trait....."

Unlike Determination.

As usual, these threads move too fast to keep up with. But, I'll try to collect my thoughts here anyway. First, initial card reactions:

Binayre Pirate: 100% expected. -1PS compared to its Rebel cousin, but with an Illicit slot.

"Hot Shot" Blaster: A one-shot turret for only 1-2 points less? Looks pretty dubious at first glance.

Feedback Array: No attack, Ion, and as much damage for you as for the enemy? Again, not very appealing right away.

Dead Man's Switch: Which apparently means piling a bunch of thermal detonators in your lap? Anyway, certainly looks like fun. Obviously asks both you and the opponent to play around it, but it's hopefully free damage for only 2 points (similar to Seismic Charges).

N'Dru Suhlak: Immediately screams Lone Wolf and looks badass to boot. I have a feeling I'm going to like him.

Salvaged Astromech: A little expensive for the gamble that it even does anything, but I quite enjoy the thought of putting him on a ship with Determination. Also kinda weird that he's got the same name as the slot.

Bomb Loadout: Finally, bombs for Y-Wings! I like bombs, but don't play them much (like most people, I think). Maybe I will now that all 3 factions have access.

"Genius": You're only, maybe, going to get one use out of him, but for 0 points that's obviously a good call as long as you're not needing the slot for anything else.

Unhinged Astromech: Between the name and the art, I can't help but think he's tweaking out on some robot drugs. I love it. Will give his Y-Wing (and potentially other Scum ships in the future) a quite unique dial.

"You cannot attack while overlapping an asteroid, which means there cannot be any instead of, right?"

Actually, after thinking about it, I would argue that you can. You also "cannot attack" if there's no ship in front of you, you also "cannot attack" but the article makes it pretty clear you can use FA anyway ("You might find yourself outflanked, lacking a shot altogether; or you might want to land just one more damage on a ship that you’re touching").

"Dead Man's Switch makes ever Z-95 an Assault missile... that is hysterical!"

Yes, yes it is!

"A Y-wing with … an Engine Upgrade can boost out of range, I think"

Sounds like a neat trick to pull, though a lot of effort goes into it. Three slots (Torpedo/Bomb, Modification, and Salvaged Astromech) and 6-9 points later… At least you still have an Engine-Upgraded ship after the fact?

"I'm not typically a Rebel player, but 4x Gold with ion turret and seismic charge sounds like too much fun not to try for 100pts :P"

Yes, yes, yes. And after I get 2x Most Wanted I'll have 4x Y-Wings!

"Oh! You could probably use it with Munitions Failsafe if it misses! Another point cost, but you might be able to justify throwing a missile onto the Z as well."

I've never liked Munitions Failsafe, but now that I can put it on a ship with a Missile and a Turret of sorts, I might give it a try. To be fair, I haven't messed around with the TIE Bomber too much yet, either.

"The hot shot blaster might be pretty decent on the scummy firespray. Save it for that one time a little pest gets on your flank and zap them with it. Though I'd probably rather use Inertia Dampeners."

Not a terrible idea. I'll have to try that sometime. Speaking of ID, I just realized while looking at it again that you can K-Turn, then hit the Dampeners next turn, because the maneuver is white. Scum are certainly going to have a seemingly chaotic play style compared to the Rebels and Imperials that we're used to!

"Hot Shot Blaster on N'Dru: single shot turret that throws four dice at range 1-2 as long as no other friendlies are within Range 2."

"throw Opportunist on her for added fun"

"Cluster Missiles on N'Dru also sounds like fun. Two four-dice attacks at range 1-2."

I dig it.

"N'Dru Suhlak + Lone Wolf + Hull Upgrade (17 + 2 + 3 = 22)"

Whoa, waitaminute, stop. Forget all that cool stuff I already said about N'Dru. You're telling me that for one point more I can get a Rookie Pilot with +6PS, an Attack and Defense re-roll, and the option for Illicit Upgrades? Hello my new favorite Scum pilot…

"Cool things you can do-

K-turn and then drop a bomb"

Kinda like mooning the enemy? Lol.

"People are talking about Deadman or Feedback Swarm, but you only get 2 of each in the IG2000 expansion. So unless you plan on buying 4 of them and 4 most wanted boxes, you can't do it outside of casual."

How else am I going to run IG-88 A, B, C, and D all at once? :)

"Have they missed an important word from the Salvaged Astromech? "faceup"

"When you are dealt a Damage card with the SHIP trait…..""

If you're not looking at the face of the card, though, you won't know if it has the Ship trait. So it's still only for face-up cards.

So excited about the Scum!!! And the Y-wing with a bomb! And Salvaged astromechs!!!!!!!

Dead Man's switch is gonna be really really fun.

I had to get a mop bucket after reading the article, thanks to the drool...

With the Deadman's Switch upgrade, I wonder just how hard it would be to paint my Z-95s to look like this....

a6m-7a.jpg

Pretty sure that's an early war paint scheme, and they were running them in a dark green late war. I prefer this one, though.

So assuming your opponent is dumb enough to be within range of both of the Proton Bombs and all three Headhunters, it takes two face-up damage cards and suffers three damage, in exchange for you wrecking upwards of 40% of your own list.

Something tells me that strategy isn't going to be terribly popular.

It will be with those of us who are off our rockers! XD
