I suppose all this auto-damage helps circumvent C-3PO. It's not just anti-Phantom tech.
Scum preview article up!
I haven't seen this mentioned yet for "Genius":
Bomb placement before movement (moved to the end of movement by Genius) is not an action, so you can do it while stressed or bumping or otherwise robbed of actions, as well as when you do have actions.
Cool things you can do-
K-turn and then drop a bomb: The bomb gets closer to your target, and your Y-wing is pointed the other way.
Run into enemies and then drop a bomb: If you move last, your bomb is guaranteed to hit whatever you bump, and has a pretty good chance of hitting things that are moving after you anyway.
Turn or bank and then drop a bomb: There's basically anywhere this bomb can be, your opponent won't be able to predict where it's going.
i did not want a third faction, but I gotta say all of this is getting me stoked for it!
i did not want a third faction and this only strengthens that opinion. I get the same feeling as with the expansion for the empire at war pc game. To much exploring the borders of what is reasonable, to much munchkin style annoy your opponents, to ugly to be pretty. This preview pretty much sums up why I didnt want a third faction in the first place and I'm really starting to worry about these new designers, no matter how enthustiastically they are. They do not bring balance to the force.
Edited by sigidiYou cannot shoot at your own ships. But bombs don't shoot, they just mess up everything within range.
Throw some Y wings with bombs with some Z95's with Dead man switch and watch a chain reaction of stupid damage occur. No ships left in a section of the board.
The hard part will be thinking up things to do with the other 50 mins of your round when playing at a tournament.

The correct choices are always to go to the bathroom or get some food.

Assuming everything blows up on the board is it a tie? Also if you were the one doing all the destruction do you get the 200 points to your score?
Oh baller. I can put the hotshot blaster AND an Ion cannon on the HWK!

You'd need four Y-wings with Seismic Charges or two with Proton Bombs to reliably kill your own Headhunters. If the Scum Ys are priced the same way the Rebel ones are, the Bombs are the more cost effective choice, and will cost 46 points. That leaves room for three Headhunters with Dead Man Switches.
So assuming your opponent is dumb enough to be within range of both of the Proton Bombs and all three Headhunters, it takes two face-up damage cards and suffers three damage, in exchange for you wrecking upwards of 40% of your own list.
Something tells me that strategy isn't going to be terribly popular.

Oh, absolutely not, but the look on your opponents face when you do it the first time will be legendary.
Its like that old Looney Toons gag about the most brilliant trick in the magician's repertoire, but he could only do it once.

this is also assuming nothing gets shot down befor, nothing gets damaged when the alpha nukes occur. Suicide builds are going to be a big roll of the dice to see if you dont screw up befor it happens
Though I do agree with damoel, it will be hillarouse if its sucessfully pulled off, but then everyone else is going to be watching out for it.

Don't forget Assault missiles. Put kamikaz-95s within range 1 of the target, fire a few of those off from a different ship(s) and see if you can take out your own ships and set off a daisy chain of ship death.

Good idea, probably not. Crazy idea, absolutely.
I also noticed:Exactly! Like I mentioned a few posts earlier about the new droids. Their icon is different on the cards too. Here is something in the article I caught that no one has mentioned yet:
Combined with the fact that it is currently unique to the Scum
Currently unique to S&V. I do not think that this means that we will see it in other factions but they left them self a window, that they could. Maybe more cross over ships that are made for S&V that would also have rebel or imperial pilots.
Since this upgrade exists currently only among the Scum’s Y-wings
They like using "Currently" in this article.
Maybe the yet-not-exposed Y wing title allows for exchanging the astromech slot into the salvaged astromech slot, making them available for the rebel Y wing
And.., wait till the TIE Advanced gets to use illicits!
(Yes, I am repeating this untill I shall finally see the announced title card for the advanced)
If 5 droids are salvaged, including "Genius" and the wave 6 preview mentioned 3 crewmembers (expected to be Greedo, Outlaw, and a type of security droid), does this mean all other droids in the wave 6 preview are normal astromech droids of the R4 line?
Just like the one with the transport (I forgot the name and too tired to look up)?
Everything in the most wanted box can be used by scum. I dont think it makes sense for it to have anything that only rebels can use, or anything rebels can use other thn the cards that are to boost the ywing.
I can even see it in 150, 3 Zs meandering toward high value targets, waiting to be blown sky high...
Even without shooting your own assets, uh, I mean people, there are plenty of ways to make it happen.

Agreed. There will probably be tons of rebel toys, but they'll be scum first.

It wouldn't surprise me at some point to see a card released which allows some non-S&V existing ships to use illicit upgrades.

Something like a Wanted or Bounty title.
I do like how the Genuis astromech makes Proton Bombs a lot more useable. Now I don't have to fear as much that my 5 point upgrade will miss completely. Two Ys could really mess up a Tie or Z swarm if they can land their bombs in the middle.
It will be interesting to see if they release another scum ship that can use the salvaged droids. Maybe a title that gives them to the Zs, or even the HWK?
Edited by Jo JoUgh. I didn't want to pick up Most Wanted.
That upgrade for the Y-wing is awesome though.

Edited by ArmandhammerHmm I might have missed it, but don't you think that the card art for the Feekback array makes it look like the defender has been ionised and not the z95?! I wonder if this is still being tested!

It could even be an extra upgrade for some pilots. So 3 versions of the Flimflam-33 have the standard upgrade, but the 4th is a shady fellow and gets the illicit icon. Another way to differentiate pilots, mebbe.
