Scum preview article up!

Except, you can't use R7-T1 when you are using "Genius" (suddenly, having Genius in quotes makes a lot more sense when you realize you will likely be hitting yourself). But Boost will work.

It will make it problematic to fully enjoy those range 1 attacks with a costly interceptor.

Some pretty awesome stuff. Definitely will shake up the meta. Now, how many years until we actually get them?

Hmm, I'm wondering if it's possible to use Focus and/or Target Lock with "Hot Shot" Blaster, because otherwise I'm having a heck of a time justifying those three points. On the other hand, it's great for making a desperation attack against ships that love to stay out of arc all the time. I'd say it's fairly worthwhile when compared against a cheap missile...

Oh! You could probably use it with Munitions Failsafe if it misses! Another point cost, but you might be able to justify throwing a missile onto the Z as well.

I'm surprised there has not been a rant against the Hot Shot Blaster. I give it another 15 minutes.

I do hope the Scum HWK has the illicit upgrade. They would be interesting with the Feedback Array.

I think FFG definitely achieved their mission goal with these - looking at the options, I find I'm really...INTERESTED in getting my hands on these in play.

They remain cool sounding, but don't feel unbalancing, and moreover they really look like they are going to given the faction a VERY ODD sort of play style. I mean, a Scum Y-Wing is going to behave a lot differently than a Rebel Y-Wing, and Scum Z-95 quite a bit different from a Rebel Z-95, after all...

Heh - that's AWESOME!

Headhunters with a 3 speed GREEN K-Turn? Ouch..

except headhunters can't take salvaged droids

The hot shot blaster might be pretty decent on the scummy firespray. Save it for that one time a little pest gets on your flank and zap them with it. Though I'd probably rather use Inertia Dampeners.

I bet they're aiming to release in time for Christmas. But I can't imagine that they are more than 6 months away.

Why would you think you couldn't spend a Focus or TL?

I wonder if "Genius" means we might see a new bomb. That way you could move and deploy it without hurting yourself. maybe.

Also I love the Unhinged Astromech card. That droid is tweaking.

There is no new bomb in this wave. There is not template for it in the Most Wanted fan. Though IG-2000 does have Seismic Charges and Proximity Mines.

The rule book states that when overlapping an obstacle your ship "cannot attack any other ship". Feedback Array allows you to do damage instead of attacking. On an asteroid and one damage left to go on the enemy seems like the perfect moment to use this "instead of performing an attack" ability as you cannot attack anyway. The Array does not state that you have to be able to attack only that you cannot attack if you use the card.

Not sure about this. Feedback can't be "instead of" something that couldn't happen. It's like saying Yorr can take a stress from a ship that didn't gain one (not that you'd want to, but hopefully it gets the point across). We'll see how it falls out, but it wouldn't be the first time an article made incorrect suggestions.

R7-T1 and Genius don't work together for all kinds of reasons :)

Genius seems underwhelming to me. Will be good with Proximity Mines, but being stuck in to damage yourself (or making a very expensive Y-wing via Engine Upgrade) doesn't feel like it'll be popular. Certainly feels Scumm-y, though. Bombs in general aren't exactly tearing things up, not sure that having them available is going to help the Y-wings all that much. I was really hoping for something creative like a Bomb Projector that would let you drop it in front of your ship. And the Hot Shot Blaster is a cool idea, but pretty expensive for just gaining a turret. We'll see, but I have a hard time thinking there won't be better uses for those 3 points.

Lots of other good there. Dead Man's Switch is going to be a massive change to how you have to fly. Feedback Swarms could be a very terrifying thing if flown right. Suhlak is pretty awesome, I like the Salvaged Astromech, and the Unhinged one is possibly even better than the Rebel R2, since the R2 overrides what is already a lot of green while the Unhinged adds even more green.

"Genius" doesn't work with Proximity Mines, because they aren't dropped before you reveal your dial.

Y-Wings finally get bombs! I love it! I am still trying to find a use for Genius... would the Y-Wing still be in the 'blast radius' of any bomb it would drop if it dropped it AFTER it moves?

It's like this: (Wile E. Coyote, SUPER Genius)

A Y-wing with R7-T1 or an Engine Upgrade can boost out of range, I think. I'd have to get my templates out or boot up Vassal to be sure, and I'm at work at the moment.

You can boost out of range, problem is the droids belong to different factions, and even then they take the same slot.

We din't get anything about the StarViper or M3-A. :( :( :(

Those Astromechs are cool though.

I think Genius will be a good astromech to have if you are using bombs. Yes you will take the hit unless you boost, but its alot easier to end behind someone then it is to have them end behind you before you move, when you are running a proton bomb. You will take a crit too but Y-wings have 5 hull a direct hit wont kill them it will kill E-wings A-wings Headhunters Phantoms Sycks.

Shows you how often I see Proximity Mines used :D

Yeah, he's pretty much going to be binder fodder, I suspect.

Most likely, but I could see the point in taking him for 0 cost if you have bombs and don't want a different astromech. Sure you'll get hurt but that one crit may be worth it.

Hopefully the next preview has something on the hwks as that is the only scum ship we know nothing about. Y-wings would be cool but we know about their bomb slot and what their salvaged astromechs do. Though we don't have ps or any info on any of the elite pilots.

He's a self-damaging enhancement for something that doesn't see much use as it is. I have a hard time seeing "Now you can damage yourself, too!" as a compelling argument for increasing the frequency of bomb use :D There's also the opportunity cost for the slot - some of the other Salvaged are pretty good. Genius may be free, but the bomb isn't. Same cost for a Seismic Charge that I can hit myself with, or a Salvaged that toughens up the ship nicely, or an Unhinged that makes it more maneuverable.

<shrug> Maybe everyone will surprise me, but... I think it'll be a fun card for random games, but not much more.

I felt a great disturbance in the force. It was as if millions of X wing players began frantically googling "how do bombs work".

Looks nice! Rebel Y-Wings will also be able to use that upgrade it seems.

Regarding the Salvaged Astromechs (from the article):

Since this upgrade exists currently only among the Scum’s Y-wings, and replaces the standard Astromech upgrade featured by the Rebellion, it helps, once more, to define the faction.
