I don't think i've ever cheated, maybe taking a mental note of range ruler measurements durring the combat phase to plan my next turn, but I'm not sure if that's cheating, plus I rarely bother.

I have forgoten or misinterpreted some rules. We didn't think crit rolls on asteroids counted at first, and when I haven't used HLCs in a while I've forgoten to change the crit to a hit, but I've also forgotten that HLC reroll can crit, so I guess it's a wash there.

Huh. One of my early games we thought asteroids did 3 dice of damage. The rocks alone killed over 100 points in that game.

At an imbaar event I read R7T1 as one whole action! Allowing double boost with engine and ptl... Oooops!

The first time I used Farlander with Advanced Sensors and Push the Limit I am pretty sure I played most of that game forgetting that his green move would remove the stress I just gave him. About 3/4 of the way through the game it dawned on me that to pull it off I would need to avoid green maneuvers.

Never deliberately cheat but mistakes happen though I catch them most times, my friend however is always trying to k turn his b-wing backwards have to watch him like a hawk.

First match my roommates played after we all started playing, i looked up the tournament rules at the time and misread it as 6 asteroids per player... 4 out of 6 ships died from asteroid collisions, and i think they got off maybe 4 actions all total the entire game. :/

I've forgotten to remove shield tokens a few times during a game at a tournament. I was playing against a Fat Han and tricked out Wedge and I kept trying to visualize how all the effects would shakedown and I forgot about my damage twice, but my opponent reminded me on both times.

How do you accidently cheat ?

The most accidents i had seen on my part on others, has been with critical hits, so i actually carry extra critical hit markers and force my opponent to use them too. Many people say "don't worry, i always remember them." which i just answer "but i won't." ;P

You never cheat "accidentally." Cheating implies intent. Loaded dice. Manipulated damage deck. Even secret range marks on your home made board.

Accidents happen. Brain-farts happen. Tiredness and distractions abound. That's not cheating...its part of life.

The very fact you felt like cr@p when you had a brain dump and did something dumb means you not only weren't cheating, but actually have a conscience and care about your reputation.

Never have done anything like that. Am simply a morally dishonest person that will try to constantly tip the odds in my favor, just not noticeably enough to be caught. Or substantialy impact the game for that matter. Huh. Talking about this makes me realise that maybe I should just stop cause in the long run, its all about skill and sacrificing cats to the dice god.

Played a game took out the fresh damage deck by accident all the direct hits were together and even though I'd shuffled I ended up taking those direct hits, wasn't pretty.

I have definitely had times where we played incorrectly due to rules misunderstandings. Always a little embarrassing when realizing it after the fact.

I also played against someone that didn't know the deck building rules very well. He had fielded two identical Y-Wings with the same unique Astromech droid. I didn't call him on it as it was just a friendly game. I told him after the game that it wasn't allowed by the rules as it hadn't impacted the game at all. He was unable to handle my interceptor onslaught even with the droids.

One time I played two games in a row with a shuttle. The first time, I flew Col. Jendon. The second game I used an OGP, but I forgot to change the nameplate on the shuttle and ended up treating it as PS 6 the whole time. The game came down to my shuttle vs. Etahn (PS 5), and I narrowly won because my shuttle shot first.

I realized my mistake later that night (after everyone had left) and felt just awful. I'm definitely going to apologize next time we play together.

We were just going to catch up over drinks. We hadn't seen each in a couple of years; she had joined the navy and I had moved to pursue my own career. My wife was, coincidentally, out of town and I didn't tell her I was going out since I didn't want her to be unreasonably jealous.

When we met, she smiled and I couldn't help but laugh. She was as beautiful as she had always been. My first kiss, my first love. We talked as if nothing had changed. I passed her a glass and our fingers touched. She blushed and bit her lip, but said nothing. As the night went on, I found myself remembering her touch, the feel of her skin warm against mine. Her perfume filled my senses, vanilla, itself as intoxicating as the Old Fashioneds in my hand and on the table. As the bar closed and we walked back to her hotel, she stumbled against me and I put my arm around her as I had a thousand times before.

In her room, she placed her dials down on the board and then left to "powder her nose." I don't know of it was the hour or the alcohol, but I could deny myself no longer. While she was out of the room, I checked her dials. With this foreknowledge, I was able to dodge every arc and return fire. The route was complete; it was a perfect night.

But now, in the light of day, I live with the shame. I know what I desire and what I'm capable of when I am unobserved. I thank you for this thread. Until this day I have shared nothing, but lived alone wothvny thoughts.

I think everyone has accidentally cheated before. Thinking the rules for something worked another way, forgetting to remove a focus token, or whatever. That's just how people work, nobody will ever be 100% all the time.

@Baronfel Sounds legit. I think if you are under alcohol's influence it doesn't count.

I think everyone who learned x-wing made mistakes in/against their favor but I won't call it cheating.
