It's a revelation!!

I used Corran tonight in an impromptu game with EU, Predator, R2-D2 and FCS and he was an absolute beast. Granted my dice were pretty awesome and my brother Chris may as well have not bothered rolling but that EU completely changed the E for me.

Just thought I'd share that with you after my E-Wing thread earlier in the week.

I'd go ptl. You already have tl with the fcs. And you added another action to you bar. Predator works great for ships with limited actions. I. E. An xwing. The e has so many more actions available it screams for ptl.

Tried Corran with that build about a week ago, but used Outmaneuver instead of Predator. Range 1 double tap from outside someone's arc will deal a lot of damage. Ran him along with two green sqdr with PtL and Concussion Missiles.

Completely slaughtered a list with Turr, Tetran, Carnor, Howlie. Then battled it out with Jonus Brothers where R2D2 got to shine as one defender's HLC stripped all Corran's shields in one blow. I took out 1 Defender in the first round of fire and Jonus in the second, lost 1 A-wing, then continued fighting with the remaining one.

I am putting FCS on Horn but what else

Option 1 Stealth, R2D2, VI

Option 2 Engine, PTL, R2

Both seem hard to kill. If I really want to get crazy I add advanced proton torpedoes to Option 2. That would make one crazy double tap.

Personally I'd go with option 2. PtL on a ship that already has a high PS will be more useful in the long run. Option 1 has worse defense than 2 as PtL gives you the option to arc-dodge like crazy with BR-Boost, or if you can't get out of an arc you can always go focus-evade and likely avoid damage. Option 1 will thereby be prone to take more damage, so I'd switch that SD for something more useful, like a SU if you have 1 point to spare.

If you want him to be truly impossible to hit, run him with PtL, Stealth Device, R2 Astromech. Then perhaps add FCS for offensive purposes.

Thanks guys I worked that out when I was playing last night. The one thing that was good was that when I got the TL on the second shot I could use Pred or the TL depending on how many misses there were. A couple of times I used Pred and was then able to keep the TL for my first shot when I came back in.

I have used Corran in quite a few games now and I have come to the conclusion that he is generally not worth the points (at least when used with my skill set). The way the OP set him up he costs 48 points which is almost half the list and Corran will still only be PL8 and does not have a turret. So the nasty PL9 pilots or PL8 without initiative will be moving after him which takes away some of the benefits of EU for Corran. In my experience Corran is one of the most dice dependant pilots. He needs to get into thick of things to get good use of the double-tap and you can´t really afford half your list being overly cautious. At the same time Corran can go down really fast against focus fire. He becomes very predictable if he starts relying on green maneuvers if his shields go down too quickly.

Completely agree he is mega expensive and in another game I'm sure I'm going to get caught out. The thing is though he is so much fun to fly! If he gets into trouble he can do a 7 forward with EU so can get out of trouble. In past games when I've used him with R2-D2 I've made a point of not necessarily going for the green move to catch people out, it never really worked as well as I hoped but with a boost it could really work.

With Corran the only benefit of predator is on the first attack. After that fcs takes over till you move to the next opponent. And start the process again.

When you put it like that it does seem like overkill, PTL it is! I'll keep Predator for Wedge.

Basically a pimped out A-wing. About the same maneuvers, lots of green, bigger gun, barrel roll, PtL autoinclude and FCS on top of that. Tycho has a new friend in town.

Funny you say that I literally just set that up in the squadron builder!

You could also keep Predator and swap FCS for Advanced Sensors for 1 point more, which would give you more flexibility by boosting before your maneuver. I don't know if it's better or not.

I used that version of Corran again last night in an Epic game and iam gonna stick to it!

It was a bit dicey at first, the opponent had a PS 10 flight instructor Boba set up on his flank so I had to guess all the time where he'd be,

first round he got a lucky 3 hits on him at Range3!!! But Corran double tapped him for 4 at range 3, lols, was thinking for sure he'd die next turn,

but the opponent's lines got messed up and Corran forward 5 and boosted and evaded to safety out of reach, and then continue'd to be a pain in the enemy's back field

I think this is the best Corran build and am sad that there isn't a generic E-wing with EPT slot as I'd love to try and fly 2 E's with PTL and R2's and EU, that could be lots of fun for a generic squad kind of list, maybe with some B's in the back for longrange firesuport...

But yeah, E-wing is my fav right now!

Quite true. Tycho is my other favorite Rebel ship to fly. Pimped out on Chardaan Refit+Test Pilot+Experimental Interface+Expert Handling/Daredevil+Outmaneuver/Predator, it's 32-33 points of fun. Downside is that the attack doesn't pack as much of a punch as Corran can do. I guess you're paying 12 points for the extra sheild, 3 dice gun, double tap in one round, and the System Upgrade slot.

That's definitely an interesting idea. I do like flying Corran with AdS, but I pretty much can't give up the PtL anymore, so I do lose some attack power without FCS. But AdS PtL is also pretty fun.

PTL works great with AdvS too. Boost, BR and 5 straight will cover a lot of ground when you need to get out of arcs.

I'd prefer to just have a hull upgrade for extra survivability.

I feel there is always a tiny bit missing when you´re putting together a "super-Horn". In my opinion he would really need to be PS9 for the engine upgrade to return the investment. If you pack Veteran Instincts you miss out on PTL which means you´re not using those nice actions you´re paying for in the action bar. I know people will probably not agree with me here but I really don´t think the E-wing dial is so great. It only has 5 green maneuvers compared to A-wing´s 8. In my games you´re very quickly resorting to playing white maneuvers while stressed half the time because otherwise you become very predictable. But then you´re playing a ship that has a loaded action bar and PTL but has trouble shaking off the stress to take actions. Just compare the "green dial" of the E-wing to the A-wing and Tie-Interceptor (the popular PTL ships) and you see a huge difference. I played a game the other day where I was facing an X-wing with R3-A2 (stressbot) and it made the limitations of the E-wing dial painfully obvious. It would make a big difference if either the hard-2 or straight-4 were green but they are not.

The next time I´ll try Corran it will probably be with R2-D2, VI, FCS and possibly EU if the 4 points are available. That way I can use the evade action on the the turns where I can´t shoot or when I can use target locks from FCS to modify the attack dice. At the same time I´m trying to stay away from stress to stay maneuverable. It´s tricky to come up with a solid list that already spent 46 points on 3 red dice and 5 hit points though...

Yeah, for PtL to be worth it on E-wings you'll pretty much need that R2, otherwise the only green turn maneuver you have is 2 bank. If you want something else in the astromech slot you'd better look for something else. Outmaneuver, Predator, Marksmanship, perhaps Lone Wolf when Wave 5 is here.

Actually I agree with you. Having tried a VI Corran for a little bit, the ability to go at PS10 is pretty awesome against Whisper and Soontir, but being able to only do 1 action really hurts.

PtL with R2 or R2-D2 is purely how you want your Corran to be, a super wily pilot that can't be caught and come in, shoot, and leave, OR a pilot that just won't die because the shields keep on recharging. Of course, the only issue is the extra 3 points that R2-D2 costs.

Ultimately, I think PtL and EU are "required" for my builds, and AdS, FCS, R2 or R2-D2 are added in depending on the rest of my list and the type of Corran I want.
