Jonus' Brothers Remix

By Royals, in X-Wing

I am a big fan of the original Jonus' Brothers list. I wanted to try to mix it up, just a little bit and came up with this.

100 points

25 points
Captain Jonus
Predator
39 points
Krassis Trelix
Ion Cannon
36 points
Bounty Hunter
Ion Cannon

While not as hard hitting as the original, it offers a bit more control with the Ion Cannons. Krassis will be very accurate, with almost a free built in Target Lock with Captain Jonus near, and if he has to split off, he can do alright without the buff.

I think it's definitely something I am going to give a shot.

My personal opinion is that with so few ships you really need to hit hard, not Ion. The thing keeping you alive is destroying ships, with this list you remove this possibility.

I once saw the following remix:

Captain Jonus (Tie Bomber)

Delta squadron (Tie Defender)

Heavy laser cannon

Bounty hunter (Firespray)

Heavy laser cannon

It had seemed good on paper, but he could not get Jonus' ability to trigger because of how I danced around the firing arcs. A tie bomber also has a few difficulties staying in formation with a Firespray, so formation flying practice ahead of time is advised.

Fair number of hit points but i think you'd be better off taking recon specialist on both firesprays.

I like the BH + Delta variant, although it will be harder to play than the standard Onyx or Deltas.

I'm also looking forward to the new Cannon variants we'll be getting in wave 6, maybe it brings new variants to this list.

Agreed. They're going to make the Defender and Firespray even more flexible.

A 3-4 pt Flechette Cannon that gives stress on 3 red dice would be extremely good for instance.

Imagine running a list with one Flechette Cannon and an Ion Cannon.

I tried a list very similar to this one. Jonus, makes this a list that wants to fly in formation. Flying two Firesprays in formation (especially through asteroids) is really hard.

Hmm, i don't really like it. Defenders have the speed, large base and white Kturn to use the HLC efficiently. Firesprays do not and they don't really like flying in formation, but taking advantadge of the rear arc whenever it is possible. That doesn't mean HLC firesprays are bad , but that they are more versatile ships than HLC carriers, to spend points into buffing more the HLC (jonus). For example the howlrunner 2 HLC firespray makes more sense to me.

Btw i am answering dotswarlock.

It would be an ion cannon on steroids for defenders.

Don't worry, I don't like HLC firesprays either ;)

It was just what my opponent played, but the game lasted forever because of how many hit points he had (and how bad I was rolling). Took me over an hour and a half to finish him off.

The whole point of Jonus Brothers is too have crazy damage output with two HLCs. This is like Jonus Brothers' weird cousin.

Firesprays don't fly well in formation, but with a Bomber you need to fly in formation. Also, firespray end up using their back arc a LOT. And you can't use Ion Cannons on back arcs.

That's why I was advocating recon specialist over ion cannons boosts both attack and defence.
