How far do you travel for a game?

By Third Sphere, in X-Wing

No further than 12 parsecs.

Yeah, but only if you can do it in record time.

I travelled 300 kilometres south for a game a couple of months ago and ended up with my X-Wing stuff staying in the case. I played a modern skirmish game instead. Either way it was a good way to spend the weekend.

25 minutes for my weekly game

I have a 15 minute drive for our local store which I frequent once a week for games. For tournaments, we have traveled almost two hours for premier events like Imdaar Alpha for example.

25 mins by bike currently. Previously, it was 10 minutes by car.

For tournaments I have travelled 1 hour, I plan to make it to a tournament 1h30 away this weekend (expanding my horizons :) )

Normally, 25 mins.

The longest I did travel was 8+ hours to get to the Nordic Championships and I'm not going to do that again I reckon. :P

wow, some of you guys really go far for a game! Not sure I'd go 8hrs though :-)

The short answer is somewhere between 30-45 min, depending on traffic.

I have an unfortunate situation, though. Charlotte, NC has some terrible city planners that decided to over-develop the south side of the city and limit highways to the north. The best game store is just north of the city. For me, it's the 30-45 min during rush hour traffic, but I live on the north side of town. Most people live and work in the south. They are facing an hour of traffic during rush hour to get up to the best game store. It turns many people off.

The scene at my store died when there was a shop that opened in south-east Charlotte as all the local players went there. X-wing died for about a year on my side of town. I think that X-wing has died down on that side of town. I do know that it's picked back up at my local store, which is great! I haven't seen what the tournament scene is like lately.
