Episode VII X wings - New Look, New Stats?

By TasteTheRainbow, in X-Wing

We've all seen the shots of the new X-wings that are coming with episode 7. They are an updated, sleeker ship with some very clear engine upgrades. I think everyone knows what X-wings need to really shine...it's a cheaper way to get an engine upgrade. But maybe a dial makeover would do the trick as well. Maybe raw stat adjustments.

Do you think we'll see these new X-wings in the game?

What would you do to their stats/action bar/dial to match the new look?

What do you think FFG will do?

Here's the video for those of you who haven't seen it:

To answer your questions: No, Nothing, Nothing.

Maybe a new xwing only title.

Anything is possible with this game. However, I think the new trilogy will be set too far in the future for its ships to be included in X-Wing.

There weren't E-wings around at Endor, right?

And eventually they've got to run out of ships in the rebellion era.

But they showed up just a couple of years after. Episode VII is going to be like 20 years latter.

I already have my Episode VII X-Wing on the table :P

I have a car that's 20 years old, it's high performance and I prefer to drive that over my wife's car. Why can't ships be in service for that long? Just need weapon and system upgrades if available. Or is something in the Canon state that there isn't ships in service from one specific time to the other? I am very ignorant when it comes to star wars.

Can someone link the video?

I would let you have free boosts just for flying that thing, Mel.

No.

As for length of service, the B-52 has been in service since the 1950's. The F-15, 16 & 18 have been in service since the 70's. A 20 year service life is nothing.

I imagine The Republic wanted to phase out the old X-Wing to a degree, because they wanted their X-Wing, as opposed to a stolen one.

A fresh slate, a new mark, if you will. It's sort of like the F-15, 16, 18 / F-35 thing. Except it isn't anywhere near as bad as the F-35, I'm sure, and will actually be useful.

I imagine the likes of veteran pilots still prefer their T-65 Starfighters, rather than (maybe?) T-75s. But this one looks...

Simpler. Easier to produce en masse, more refined. Maybe even weaker but more agile to an extent, in contrast to the old X-Wing.

I don't know. None of us do, or can, until Episode VII comes out.

Its not just a ship service life for the game being "shifted" to the new trilogy its also a pilot issue, okay yes we already have pilots who died at Yavin flying with pilots from Endor and shortly thereafter but there is a difference between fudging a 3 year time line and a 30 year timeline.

(If you care about those kinds of things)
