Nin-in-Eilph spoiler

By Raven1015, in The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game

It definitly should be Woodmen without an S. :P

I hope this trait will not end up like Dale or Beoring or Esgorath.. It would be cool to have a Woodsmen deck of some sort. Rather then Beorn Leadership I would like a Grimbeorn hero or a Radagast hero that has some synergy with Woodsmen.

I wouldn't place my hopes on that. There was no mentioning of this trait in any articles whatsoever.

It definitly should be WoodSmen..

No - they are Woodmen in Tolkien's work.

I like traits like Woodmen and other minor factions like that (Beornings, Dale) more as support traits, with cards in 1 or maybe 2 spheres, that work well together and excel at some particular thing, but not as a faction that you can make a deck around or that can do everything. Kinda like the way Eagles are. They are good at fighting but can't do much else, and it's normally just a little group of them that you include in your deck. A Woodmen faction following this line, that is good at neutralizing encounter cards would be great IMO.

We have a release date!! October 23rd!!

Well, not as fast as I'd want it to be. But still, knowing a release date is better than sitting in the shadows. Of Mordor.

We thankfully did finally get the road darkens in between but a >2 month stretch between AP's is kind of a bummer but one i suppose i expected since i didn't figure it would be released this week. Will be looking forward to it but am grateful to have the new saga expansion to enjoy in the meantime

It's coming out the 23rd of October, if the Upcoming Releases is to be believed.

Ohhh that's sooner then I expected.

Since I got the road darkens a day before release in the US, (and I live in Holland!) this time around,

I think I'll try to refrain from any online spoilers from now on and open this pack to see who the new hero is.

That is, if the pack comes as early as last one.

Normally it's available 2 weeks later here and if so, I won't be able to contain myself I'm affraid.

I think that's very much a question of how the shipping to Europe goes. My local store got the first three packs from the cycle all at the same time (and after the american release).

Yeah... I'm not getting this until december... Thanks Obama

The Hero is tactic:

Mablung, threat 10, Stats all 2, 4 Hitpoint, Gondor Ranger:

If you engage an enemy, add one resource to Mablungs Resource-Pool(Once per Phase)

Sorry for my bad english :D

Proof?

The germans sold some at Essen

That's strange stat distribution for a tactics hero. No Ranged or Sentinel?

But resource acceleration. That's a pretty fair trade-off for tactics.

Well, I guess just slap Gondorian Shield all over him and get to the business.

You can follow crabble's link in his signature to his blog, where he gives us a pic of Mablung:

First impression: kind of meh. Tactics is a sphere certainly lacking in the resource generation department , but the one per phase is kind of off putting. If it was unlimited maybe that would be too OP, but once per phase almost feels like once per round although there are some small instances where the encounter deck will force an enemy on you outside of the normal engagement step. I also don't understand some of the logic for the design choices for the two gondorian ranger heroes we now have. All the ithilien ranger cards from ATS cycle was based around encounter deck manipulation and keeping enemies in the staging area. Faramir and Mablung both have abilities and or stat distributions not entirely matching with this play style. On the other hand, Mablung may be a nice complement for the Dunedain cards we see in Lost Realm which all have to do with engaging enemies especially tactics Aragorn (engage an enemy +1 resource, -1 defense, kill it with Aragorn, engage another enemy and get a resource since a different phase). I also do like how is ability and stats arent tied to attacking or defending making his role in a deck potentially quite versatile

Action: After you engage an enemy, add one resource to Mablung's resource pool. (Limited once per phase)

Yes he looks like was made for next cycle decks. For now he is pretty useless. Or maybe we will see something soon. Like Caldara first impression was also not good

He's probably a decent fit for gondorian fire too with his natural generation. With a horn of Gondor attached too he could probably get pretty beefy. He's no tactics Boromir obviously but still an option. Warming up to him as I think about it. I think I'm just bitter the ranger heroes don't work well in the ranger archetype and the current best options to go with the ranger player cards are an elf (Haldir) and hobbit (Pippin)
