Double HWK list for those who love the 290

By BAGGY, in X-Wing

I am preparing a list for an upcoming local tournament.

I have an idea for the Unexpected a double HWK-290 list, Sun-Tsu's art of war says do what you enemy least expects and as thier is no Spanish Inquisition in Star Wars perhaps a list with double HWKs will do the trick.

Chewbaca (48)

C-3PO

Jan Ors

MF Title

Kyle Katran (31)

Blaster Turret

Recon Specialist

Moldy Crow

Rebel Operative (21)

Ion Cannon Turret

p.s. any comments on fine tuning this list or a reality check on 2 HWK's appreciated

Hmmm I am a huge fan of the HWK myself, but I usually run Roark w/recon, moldy crow and blaster. With Chewie there though, passing out that focus could be huge though, a focus/evade falcon is a tough cookie to crack. I think you might have some problems with damage output, even with a 3 ship rebel list like this. Also, if I were facing it I would get rid of the focus farm and the more fragile ships first and deal with chewie last. Protecting those ships will be the key. Maybe look at this:

Chewie

-3PO

-jan ors

-MF

Roark

-moldy crow

-recon

-ion turret

Cracken

-draw their fire

So Cracken hands out free actions and can "protect" the crow with draw their fire to some extent and help out with firepower (no turret, I know). What do you think? I say try your list out a few times and see if it can hold up! Let me know what you find out!

Rebel scum

Honestly it reads like a worse version of Rebel convoy. Your damage output is non-existent.

Its not bad... If you can somehow lose 3 points somewhere, and upgrade the Rebel Operative to Roark, it would be a good Phantom counter. But taking the Recon Spec. off Kyle limits him, and taking Jan Ors and MF title off wouldn't be great. Losing C3P0 isn't ideal either.

This is the main problem I have with the list its a few points short to be exactly what I want If I take the turrets of the HWK my damage out put would be neligible

Imagine how many more HWKs would fit if that Falcon was sent to the scrapyard.

I dunno that I'd call this a hwk list so much as a 3p0 fat chewie list that happens to use HWKs.

I like HWKs, so cool, but this list is more about fast falcons. No thanks.

Doesn't Sun Tzu also say that if you show up to a fair fight (100pt v 100pt) you've already lost the planning phase?

Here's a super effective double hwk list. This list dominates. 3- and 4- elite- ship builds. I'm. 4-0 with it and 0-2 against it. I figure it would get torn apart by a swarm though.

Jan Ors — HWK-290 25

Ion Cannon Turret 5

Kyle Katarn — HWK-290 21

Blaster Turret 4

Recon Specialist 3

Moldy Crow 3

Ibtisam — B-Wing 28

Push the Limit 3

Heavy Laser Cannon 7

Great synergy in this list , and a very hard call as to who is the first target. Usually it's ibty , which is good. Jan and Kyle late game do serious damage.

This list allows for massive damage. Kyles blaster turret, buffed by jan, becomes a serious threat and a 5-dice hlc with focus and target lock hits very hard.

It looks pretty squishy, and it is, but the damage potential is pretty nutso. A swarm would eat it up I think.

It's certainly interesting: I like the options within a variable action economy like this with the inclusion of Jan on the Falcon. That being said, you don't have too much firepower or pilot skill between three ships which can be problematic. Three ship lists need to have more than one really heavy hitter, or at least one who can smash up the opponent reasonably well. This list is stunted by having few (good) attacks at range 3 and possibly relying on the ion turret for board control. If you can outfly your opponent and abuse them with the turrets then you have a good chance, but otherwise you will have trouble.

I really don't like the Kyle+Moldy Crow+Reccon Spec+Blaster Turret Combo

for one less point you can have Jan Ors + Ion Turret. You can shoot every turn and give an ATTACK DICE out at range 1-3

I'm not sure why you have Jans on the Falcon. She can't give herself the evade token and eveyone is going to ve shooting at the falcon.

Good God. People b!tch about Fat Falcons as it is.. I can only imagine this. Thankfully Jan says on friendly ships at Range 1-3.. But I suppose it you tweaked it slightly..

Keep everything as is, but drop Jan from the Falcon and place her on your Rebel Operative. That way, Chewie can still Evade using the MF title, use C3PO, and if Kyle passes the Focus to Chewie, Jan can change that Focus to an Evade - 3 evades guaranteed on the Falcon... Ouch..

This of course still does nothing for your damage output, which is sorely lacking..

The Blaster turret on Kyle is ok, but once Kyle or the Op goes down, you are left with a toothless Chewie. Survivable as hell, but he'll have to settle for gumming his opponents to death.

"Cutting Edge"

2x Rebel Operative // Ion Cannon

2x Blue Squadron Pilot // Heavy Laser Cannon.

Focus every turn.

PS2 across the board but it is surprisingly effective.

I will wail for "most wanted" until I try double HWK, all those new turrets.

NEEDS MORE RECSPEC

NEEDS MORE Y-WINGS!

Huh oh, This is a Hawk list. Lame.

I love Double HWKs, Chewie, Roark and either Jan or Kyle would be an awesome list if there was enough points. It's probably possible with generic 2400's. I'm looking forward to that.

Maybe I have the rules wrong but the card does not read another ship at 1-3range so Chewie is in range 1-3 of himself
