I have seen the original three so many times that I would be afraid to offer a guess to the number. Wore out a few VHS copies, had laser disc copies back in the day. Any one who wants original versions...a few years back they released each movie on DVD with a bonus disc that has the original unaltered movies on it. Unfortunately I only have Star Wars and all three still go quite high on eBay.
off topic, sort of: How many times do you think you've seen ANH/EPIV
The real question is this: how many times have you read the X-wing series over and over again to inspire your strategies when playing X-wing? ![]()
Seen the special editions in the cinema with me dad, in the late 90s. That was nice, dad saw the originals in the cinema before i was born. so getting to see them one the big screen was awesome for me. Got the empire of dream box and then later bought the trilogy again to get the original verions on the bonus disks. I also have the 3 other movies but thats almost more for completist sake than to actualy watch them.
Has anyone watched those two ewok movies from the 80s?

Yeah I keep looking for them. People have told me I could find allot of those Movies on Torrents, especially the original versions lacking all the Lucas edits since he tried to remove them from record.
Pirates have all the good stuff man. (I actualy have the ewok movies on double dvd.)
Speaking of edits: i saw a star wars docu once (not sure if its empire of dreams) that mentioned that apearantly there are even (very minor) diffrences in the original '77 theatrical release. Stuff like diffrent sound effects etc.
Have you seen that scene with bigss in mos eisly that was cut from a new hope?
I'm well over a hundred for each of the original trilogy. I had chicken pox in 4th or 5th grade and spent a week on the couch just watching them over and over.
Too many for a supposedly normal human male. Its a bad sign that when my grandad bought the video cassette, it was unwatchable in a year. It had been worn out from over viewing.
Anyone who doesn't know what a video cassette ( VHS ) is needs to go look it up. That's what we had in the 90's, feel lucky for what you have now! **** kids
Edit: I'm 23 and now feel old. Thanks
I always laugh when kids more than half my age think they're old.. lol
I saw it in the theatre in 77... I was 13.... 50 today....
I have a VHS somewhere of the OT, but it's in storage, and I dont watch 'tapes' any more. I do wish they would release an Original theatrical DVD or Blu ray.. I do despise the whole Greedo and han issue. You just don't change stuff like that.
As for how many times.. over 100 at least... probably more close to 200, there were some times I did a marathon weekend.. lol..
I like the Prequels, so I have seen them a number of times.. I just fast forward through the parts I don't care for.. I dig all the Jedi stuff in those so that isnwhere I get my enjoyment of them.
Oh man.
This question.
Let's see, I couldn't tell you the first time I saw ANH but I do know that some of my earliest memories involve a pile of Star Wars action figures and me pulling off Darth Vader's head for like the third time. My parents would go buy me another one, and eventually off with his head! I would later rationalize this as trying to take his helmet off.
When I was about 10, maybe 11, USA aired the trilogy during Christmas. I watched ANH and was completely enamored with it. I was far too involved to think ahead enough, but right before ESB came on I popped a tape into the VCR (I can't believe I just had to program that word into my phone) and recorded it and ROTJ.
That was officially the beginning of the end.
Not a day would go by where I didn't watch them. In the early 90s my local video rental store began carrying a small laserdisc section, and in that section was ESB and ROTJ. I'll never forget seeing that Star Destroyer for the first time in ESB in such good quality. Also the fact that the film was letterbox was like seeing it for the first time all over again. I was probably 13 at the time, but that's where my love for quality home theater began.
I remember seeing trailers for the special editions before they hit theaters, and my cousin asked my opinion of it as to whether or not I would still like it as much. I told him that if i didn't, I would go to the theater to see it until I did like it.
I literally couldn't count the amount of times I've seen the films. At least once a day since I was 10, not counting the dark times (roughly a 5 year gap). I have all three films currently on the SD card of the phone I'm writing this on. I have problems.
I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest to discover my view count is in the quadruple digits.
Edited by Explosive EwokI was about 12 in 1987 so i think i actually quite liked the two ewok movies when they came out.
I was young enough to still think ewoks were cool and not cynical then about their ability to bring down the empire ![]()

They did re-release the Ewok movies on a DVD about 10 or so years ago, so you should be able to find copies online somewhere, even though they are out of print.
Yeah I keep looking for them. People have told me I could find allot of those Movies on Torrents, especially the original versions lacking all the Lucas edits since he tried to remove them from record.

So yeah, anyone interested in how all THAT works just send me a PM. I'll point you in the right direction. Easy stuff.
There's a fan edit from a guy called Harmy that did an AMAZING job getting the best quality video of the original release. It's called the Despecialized Edition and he's done the whole trilogy. Blu-ray quality.
many times but I can't remember how many. Not the same for the prequels, maybe a couple of time each except for EP I that I saw only one time and I was disgusted. I don't have blu ray yet, I 'll wait disney will release the original theater version.
and the other ewok movie
I'm sure i saw this one as a kid but i have zero memory of it
Many... but not as many as Empire
Many... but not as many as Empire
Ditto. And I've seen it probably north of a hundred times since I was a kid.
well! This might be showing my age, but my brother had it on 8mm and we watched it numerous times.
Now with my son who by the way watches it nearly every day on DVD. And is in the Star Wars club at his 6th grade school.
I couldn't even count the number of times I have watch the first big 3, the new 1-3 maybe 20 or 30 times each.
Easily 100+ on the Original Trilogy.

I loved Star Wars from the first moment I saw it... The very first time it was shown on TV in the UK (I forget the year but I seem to remember it being on the cover of the Radio Times!). I was taken to the cinema to see ...Jedi when it was released. I remember standing outside the Harlow Odeon with my Aunt and Uncle and then looking at the moon out of the car window on the way home imagining it was the Death Star. But my real love is Empire. I even carried on watching it when I was going through my 'arty-farty' film phase. I used to have a continual loop of Empire Strikes Back, Rumblefish, Manhatten and Yojimbo. Funnily enough Empire is the only one of those films that's in colour!
I remember seeing ANH on TV. My mate Stuart at school was really into 'star wars' and me being a literal kind of kid thought it was space stuff in our universe and i couldnt understand how you got the brown landspeeder up into space on a rocket ![]()
Then i saw it and understood and got really into it.
I think i just missed ESB at the cinemas but saw it on pirate video then later when it was reshown (my local cinema ran one film a week on one screen!). I certainly saw ROTJ at the cinema.
I remember having an epic day where all the lads in my street pooled out star wars toys to recreate all three movies over a summers day in the school holidays.. granted there were some 'stand ins' no one had an imperial shuttle so the 'mini rig' one man shuttle stood in for that!
But with about five of us pooling toys we had an epic hoth battle... albeit on a concrete yard rather than snow and some epic fighter battles (although pretty much all the TIEs were 'darth vaders tie fighter' as it was sold)
I was about 12 in 1987 so i think i actually quite liked the two ewok movies when they came out.

Me to, well except i was 8 then, and i always liked ewoks. Possibly due to me seeing ROTJ first on VHS (but to young to pay attention to the spoilers, i still remember watching ESB thinking "well that sucks" when luke finds out his own dad has just lopped his hand of)
But i never got cynical with the ewoks, I still like those tribal canibal furrballs. Endor fight scene just disolusioned me in stormtroopers and their ground vehicles, especially the ATST whose armor wich seems to be made lightweight and energy blast resistant, but gets crushed quite easily in a log trap.
Edited by Robin GravesI've never hated ewoks either.
I always thought ewoks were a bit like bears or monkeys.. yeah they look cute at a distance but you dont want one trying to tear your throat out.
Did you watch those Droids cartoons as a kid? I saw a few eps and always wondered if this took place before ANH or after ROTJ.
I still get choked up at the bit with the two Ewoks when you see one get blown up and the other one hug him and start crying. Excuse me... [door slam]
