off topic, sort of: How many times do you think you've seen ANH/EPIV

By Gadge, in X-Wing

Did you watch those Droids cartoons as a kid? I saw a few eps and always wondered if this took place before ANH or after ROTJ.

I managed to totally miss 'droids'. I think shortly around my 13th birthday I was given an old copy of Runequest and then D&D and basically if it wasnt a lead wargames figure or paint to daub it with I wasnt interested.

I still get choked up at the bit with the two Ewoks when you see one get blown up and the other one hug him and start crying. Excuse me... [door slam]

Yeah me to. I know that feel bro. Hugs.

Thats teh part of the movie where i shake my fist at the screen and go "PALPATIIIIIIIIIINE!!!!!" :)

But compared to the other horrific stuff that happens in the movies:

Luke comes home, finds the smoking skelletons of his parents- aww man, thats not right.

Han shoots greedo- yes, take that ya green skinned sob!

Alderaan gets blown up- whoohoo that deathstar gun is awesome!

Pork jenkins dies- aww

Biggs dies- aaaawwwwwww

death star destroyed (with all hands) yeehaaa!

c-3po gets zapped- meh

Han gets frozen in carbonite- blinks back tears

rancor keeper starts crying- more tears

ewoks die- angry tears flow

I think (my mind isn't what it once was!) that they were set before A New Hope. I actually quite enjoyed them at the time. Not seen them since though!

I have to admit that I never twigged about the whole Death Star tragedy thing until watching 'Clerks'! That was a real "oh yeah..." moment for me

Lots. OK, not as much as a lot of you guys. I've never even seen a theatrical release of any of the six until EP 1 came out in 3D. I love all the movies, including the blu-ray versions, except for the Han/Greedo change that happened (and to be honest I could really care less about that).

I didn't really like Star Wars as much as Star Trek for the longest time. What changed it for me was about 7 years ago when I picked up a book from the thrift store: Shadows of the Empire. I read it in about 3 days. Then I started reading about 20 characters, vehicles, or what-have-you on Wookieepedia each week. I did that for about a year. The next time I was at a thrift store I found The Lat Command, Traitor, and The Unifying Force. It was only after that I started getting heavily into Star Wars. As my love of Star Wars increased, I started to realize how superior it was to Star Trek.

So, unlike most people it was the EU that really got me started with my love of Star Wars. That being said, since that time I have watched the movies often.

I saw it twice at the drive in when I was 6. Took the kids twice to see the anniversary edition at theater.

With VHS DVD and Blu Ray I probably watched it twice a month for what? Nearly 30 years? So a lot.

I would say that I am in the Tracey Morgan range of over 500 times.

Not sure, but definitely double figures.

As an aside, may I take this opportunity to literally BEG Disney to give us an unaltered, unsullied "original theatrical cut" DVD box set.

Please, Disney - put right what once went wrong. You are our only hope.

My favourite to just watch is RotJ, but ESB is the best.

More times than i can remember. From age 13 in 77 i must have gone to see it almost weekly while it was in theatres then once it appeared on cassette that was the end of anything resembling normality for me *L*

un-quantifiable

I would say easily over 500 times for the original trilogy. For five years I worked 3 ten hour shifts and 2 five hr shifts a week in a skate shop that had a TV and VCR. The holy trinity rotated daily during those five years with the occasional skate video and Clerks thrown into the mix. Then I opened my own shop and continued the tradition for 2 more years. I still use Empire to lull me to sleep when I can't get to sleep, I usually don't make it off both. Its like a mother reading a child the same story book every night.

Since I saw it first as a young kid at the drive-in way back in 1977, not nearly enough.

I may have seen better movies since then, but none have had the impact that it did.

I lost track at 300, backing in 1980 when i was 10. I would say it's well into 4 digits by now.

I've seen it enough that I can basically quote any line in the movie. My wife got to the point she wouldn't let me say the lines anymore but said wookiee or droid sounds were still fair game. I still mess them up occasionally, but I am pretty good with my R2 beep impressions!

I am going to say thousands of times...

We got a bootleg copy of Star Wars and Empire on extended play VHS in the mid 80s; it was formatted for Pan and Scan, so watching Star Wars on a 4:3 screen was odd. The scene where Luke was using the scope to spy on the sand people and the bantha, well you never see the single Tusken Raider walking around the back side of the bantha. as a kid I could only guess that is what Luke was looking at, understand, I was only 7 when I had first seen Star Wars in the theater so my memory of the first move was hazy at best.

Anyway, I figured there are 1560 week-ends in thirty years. Everyday I have some sort of Star Wars playing in the background or playing right before bed; be it the original trilogy, the prequels, Star Wars: Clone Wars or The Clone Wars. Plus I will sit down every other week-end or so and watch all of them through from Star Wars to Jedi then Episode I through III.

So, yeah, thousands of times.

Yeah me to. I know that feel bro. Hugs.

And let's not forget:

(yeah, I had to do it...)

Seem them all upon release at the theater and been watching VHS/DVD since. No way to tell how many times.

200+ I'd say. I wore the VHS out as a kid and I watch the DVDs all the time when painting models, as background noise, or just to enjoy. Heck I watched the trilogy just last night while playing x-wing with a friend.

@FTS gecko Nice clip. Gen Ackbar's expresion when the Executor crashes down... he's like, "oh yeah that gave me wood, yeah lemme check, jup, definatly got wood!" :)

But as an avid B-wing fan i always hated that scene. B-wings are designed to shoot op the big ships ,and a friggin a-wing kills the super stardestroyer? booo hisss!
