Do you drink and fly at the table?

By krechevskoy, in X-Wing

I will say, the beverages have to be kept away from the play area. If someone were to spill booze on my stuff, I'd go Dark Side on their butt!

-Dragonsmilk beer. That stuff is strong.

I miss living in Michigan. I don't even know where to start looking for a bourbon barrel-aged stout in Kansas... although something tells me the answer is probably "Colorado".

I like a drop of this wee lager during a game.

Very tasty, and always enjoyable with a game.

If at someone's house, yes. I honestly have never heard of an FLGS that also served beer. Among some crowds it seems that would be a poor combination.

Yeah but I keep everything food stuff wise on a separate table, so there are no messes.

Just don't eat cheetos and play, else you'll have orange dust all over your minis.

I do a majority of my gaming at the FLGS (Friendly Local Game Store) so they have a strict "No Food, No Drink" at the table policy. This is to ensure the gaming tables they provide remain it the best possible condition.

Now, at home... we let the beer and pizza flow....

Yes, but only with friends who can hold their liquor, so my ships don't get hurt. On my birthday last year my buddy and I flew Imperial Aces and split a bottle of Jameson.

I normally do but I mostly play at mine or someone's house. Ideally we drink Fort Gary Dark Ale, a microbrew in Winnipeg where my friends wife is from. It's very dark, and the best beer I've had. The only downside is there's no good way to get it down here in the states other then when her folks visit or they go up there.

Columbus, OH and the surrounding cities contain several great microbreweries, not to mention Michigan has some of my favorite breweries. Usually we each buy a six pack and do a bottle exchange. A big bowl of pretzel knots is a must. They're not greasy like chips and aren't terribly messy. I also blare John Williams music the entire time.

Depneds on the Circumstance:

If I host Games at home, or if one of friends from the club is hosting at home, it's usually at the evening when their siginificant others are out. Then we bring the drink of our choosing, and for most it means a beer or two (or dry red wine when I feel particularly sophisticated - which is quite often because you can't play evil and not act smug and superior for the laughts).

At the Club, aside from it being Saturday morning, none has anything more than their usualy soft/energy drink with them ... esspecially since at the Club there are kids under 16 years* attending, and unlike the sports club from which we rent the rooms, my Club is a bit on the fence about the "drinking around minors" (it's okay on the Chrismas Party but at all other game days it is discouraged).

* It's Germany, beer and wine are legal to sell to once you turn 16; For spirits and the like the limited is 18. (that didn't stop me from starting to with Wodka at the age of 14 *Imsuchabadexampletoanyone* )

We played an epic 500-points-per-side game where the penalty for hitting an asteroid was taking a shot of liquor.

Good times.

I don't drink during a game that would be irresponsible but I do get tanked up before I drive home.

Liquor is not allowed at LGS. I don't drink alcohol anyway. No eating at the game table but beverages are fine.

Just Dr Pepper. Or some Blue milk if I have it

I think that the game hs too many tokens that would be damage with some foodsor beberages, so I prefer to get away all, even with all my tokens are protected, greettings.

Drink yes, but preferably keep the cans and glassess well away from the game pieces in order to avoid spillage.

Food yes, well candy and snacks we usaly play dice and card (sleaved) games, house rule is: wipe your greasy mitts before even thinking of touching my mansion of madness stuff.

Best drink for a game of warhammer invasion: mede!

I drink each time I miss a shot. Game gets amusing later when I think I can feel the force and start rolling constant crits.

Apparantly I had yelled "Unlimted Power!" After I got 6 crits on one roll.

Yes

No. I'm a little young for that. Besides....

Don't drink and fly!!!

On the other hand...

(Cue strange exotic music)

He's flown the Kessel Run in 12 parsecs...

He's outrun Imperial ships (not the local bulk cruisers, mind you...)

His ship has managed to survive more ______ than Tatooine has rain...

He is: the most interesting smuggler in the galaxy.

"I don't normally drink, but when I do, I drink blue milk. (At least when my granddaughter is around...)"

Fly casual, my friends.

Cavattica Stout out of Fort George Brewing in Astoria Oregon is getting a lot of product out (in 20oz cans). If you're a strong stout kinda beer drinking it should be on your radar! If you can find the bourbon aged ones (not in cans) at a "fancy" beer place you should buy them immediately.

And here is our xwing rule:

If you mess up, you get take backs equal to the number of beverages you've consumed in the game. Can only be cashed in after you've had 3... usually you don't get to play any more if you get to 5. They're kinda fragile (and we tend to drink things in the 7-13% beer range. Or homemade blackberry wine. Or apple moonshine).
