use for expose

By eibon, in X-Wing

I really can't think of very many sitruations where taking Preditor (or perhaps outmanuver) wouldn't be better than Expose for 1 point more.

Gaining an attack die is not the same as reducing a green die or re-rolling one of yours. What about Maulder Mithel with Col. Jendon and a Fleet Officer. You get within range 1 of a target and you get to roll 5 dice with a Target Lock and a focus.

@Hrathen: Yes, but there are other things in the game that can give you the Focus or the Target Lock. Someone with Squad leader or the afore mentioned Col. Jendon and a Fleet Officer.

Don't forget about Uber Tycho:

Tycho, A-Wing Test pilot, Expose, Push the Limit, Experimental Interfaces, Chardan Refit.

34 points - you can happily run focus + evade until you get something in your sights, and then run Focus + Target Lock + expose to pretty much guarantee 4 hits at range 1.

It makes for a very versatile ship.... that still dies to P+S9 Whipser, but is otherwise a lot of fun.

My version of Tycho: A-Wing Test pilot, Expose, Daredevil, Experimental Interface, Chardaan Refit.

Worked like charm. I don't see the use of taking both Push the Limit and Experimental Interface, as you can do every action only once and the A-Wing needs either Expert Handling or Daredevil to make full use of two actions. Flies like Darth Vader with Expose and Engine Upgrade. On ships with only two attack dice Expose is superior to Focus and with Tycho and Vader you can combine it with Target Lock.

I don't see any other ships profiting from Expose, even with Experimental Interface, except the Decimator, for which it should be illegal, as it has no agility die to pay for it.

Ptl and Experimental interface on tycho is so you can do things like:

Expose + target lock + focus (full offensive posture)

Evade + focus + expose (defensive posture but with 3 attack dice - a better x-wing)

Boost + target lock + expose (get into range 1, hopefully out of arc, and then light them up with Target lock + expose).

If I am likely to draw fire, I turtle. Evade and focus.

If I want to attack: Expose and Target lock.

If I want to dodge arcs: Boost and Expert Handling, better still, boost and Daredevil.

Much better to concentrate on one tactic in a round and optimize it, than to try to do two things at once and fail do do it right. This is especially true for arc dodging in my experience.
