Rules question

By DompR, in General Discussion

In the last game of our group against Azatoth we managed to collect a quite sizeable stack of Eldritch Tokens on the green Omen space (around 6 or 7, more than enough to doom the world the next time it rolled around). In a subsequent Mythos phase (when the Omen was on the 3'o clock blue space) we drew the Perplexing Stars card, paraphrased: "Move the Omen counter counter-clockwise. Then advance Doom by one for each Gate corresponding to the current Omen". But since on Azatoth's AO sheet the phrasing is "When the Omen advances to the green space", and this wasn't advancing (and the Mythos card stated what Omen effect to resolve) we elected to ignore the Doom-gain form the tokens and won the game in the next round.

Were we correct in our interpretation? Thanks in advance.

right! you should only count the two omens that are advanced to, so in this case, you would move doom one for each blue constellation omen, and once for each red meteor omen.

I can see your argument and have nothing concrete to contradict it, but personally I would've ruled that the world was devoured.

the really perplexing thing about the situation is having more than 2 Eldritch tokens on the Green Comet omen. usually I only have 1..or none.

Usually so do we, but in this game Tzultcha or whatever put four up before we could kill it. Add to that a few screwed up Research Encounters and there you are.
