EDIT: That's why I have Cats ![]()
Normally my dogs dont care about wargames models, kit etc
I have thousands of pounds worth of orignal 1940s militaria in the house and they ignore it...
My mates dog is young, in a strange place and picking up on stressed human emotions i think.
These things happen.
Like I say i was just wanting to vent. Thanks to all of you who have laughed over it with me and been sympathetic though.
I hope FFG help out, surely having someone elses dog eating your stuff is not less 'careless' than losing a ship or a dial at a tourny...
less so , i'd have thought.
Can't see why you contacted FFG. Yes they have a fantastic replacement service for packaging mishaps, and from what I've read on this community before they helped replace someone's stuff after it got nicked. But seriously yes it's a real downer for you. Especially with what your friend is having to go through (hopefully all the best to him) but why contact FFG. We're they careless in any regards to your belongings. NO.
Sorry If I sound rude but suck it up. Buy replacements. As been said some of the cards have a great resale market so you'll get some discount.
The worst that can happen is that FFG says "no". So, there's really no downside to contacting FFG.
Can we see the damages?
Gadge, let us know if FFG can't do anything for you.
My own Dad has leukemia right now, so I can only imagine what your friend and his family is going through. You're a good person to help them out. I've had lots of people help me, both emotionally and financially with some of the times my family is going through. Sucks about the ships though.
But if FFG can't/won't do anything for you, I'm in for $20Cdn to start you back on your way to rebuilding your fleet.
If anyone is interested *this* is what i sent them.. note i'm offering to *buy* the damaged parts if i can.
Dear Fantasy Flight Games
I am wondering if you can help me with a somewhat troubling disaster that happened the other night (Wednesday 11 September).
I’ve been a big fan of your Xwing miniatures game for almost a year now and have amassed a reasonable ‘fleet’ of your models (at least one of every thing produced in the UK!) and my wife and I play this game regularly with friends.
This week we were about to play through the ‘point of no return’ campaign for my recently purchased ‘Tantive IV CR 90’ pack when disaster struck.
We are currently looking after a friends dog while he takes a short holiday, he has recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer and his wife has decided to take him on a last holiday. Last night his dog managed to get into our living room and onto the table where our game was set up (and the ships partly ready for ‘part 2’) and during the night the dog has chewed up beyond repair:
1 CR90 (bridge section wrecked and engines chewed)
1 ‘blood stripe’ TIE interceptor from imperial aces (total wreck)
1 TIE/ln ship (really mangled wings)
I am also missing:
1 small ship base with black squadron pilot/mauler mythel (I think this may have been taken into the garden or eaten entirely.
I’m absolutely gutted and has distraught when I heard the banging and crashing in the dining room that woke me up last night. My problem is that I can’t really afford to replace the CR90 and Imperial Aces as im on a low income and I don’t want to trouble my friend about this as he’s dying and it seems ridiculous to say ‘your dogs cost me over £100’ when he’s got bigger problems.
I’m sincerely hoping there is a way of you replacing the CR90s missing parts (bit of bridge neck, end of bridge gap, small ship base, mauler mythel card) and replacing the damaged parts (CR90 engine, TIE interceptor, TIE fighter).
I’ll happily pay the cost of any replacements if it means I don’t have to spend £75 on a new CR90, £25 on ‘imperial aces’ and £12 on a TIE fighter. Is there any way you can help?
I enclose photos of the damage done, a pic of my wife and I playing the game the previous night, pics of my entire fleet, pics of the proof of purchases i for those I can find and a pic of the offending hound (lucy) in the hope that you will understand why I can’t even be mad at the dog who was pining for her owners. You may also note that I’d repainted parts of the CR90 to make mine unique so I’m even more gutted that having spent ages on the engines the ship is a write off!
Help me Fantasy Flight Games… you’re my only hope!
Yours Sincerely
G Harvey
P.S. If you feel there is a degree of levity towards the end of this request, I can only say that If I didn’t see the funny side in ‘my dog ate my ships’ I’d cry!

I wouldn't count on FFG replacing the Tantive model. I remember a couple instances of people trying to get it replaced, but FFG said no. It's simply too expensive of a ship to hand our freely. Too bad MM just had them as their DotD offer. Just watch eBay and Amazon and hope you can get a new one for cheap
Edit: you could turn them into some really cool debris. Screw asteroids, there's a wrecked TIE floating around.
Edited by UnfairBananaGlue your squint's wings back on, maybe some rustic painting on the fighter, and I'd say you got some pretty cool battle-damage going on there. The corvette is kinda boned though.
Well, we'll see what happens.
At the worst i'll just have to save up and get a new one at some point and as said i can probably paint these up as debris and wrecks
The squint would have been ok if it wasnt missing wingpoints.
One TIE i managed to save as the dog had just bent the wings out of shape but the one with the rip in the wing is a write off unless i can get a new wing!
I keep my dinning room/game room animal free that said my new/used/rescued Siamese cat figured out how to open the french doors and got on one of my game mats and "Smudgerized" it... (His name is Smudge btw) and by Smudgerize i me chew and generally puncture it like he is teething or something... it was just mildly annoying. what was more annoying was him chewing through 3 mouse cords. 3 different speaker wires, the direct TV power supply cord and several cell phone charge cords. he seems to like the diameter of those smallish cords. Oh and one HDMI cable to my Computer monitor.... still all cheaper than a new tantive! except that i just HAD to buy top of the line cordless gaming mice as replacements!!
Edited by SwedgeLike i say my dogs normally dont go near the dining table (other than that comedy pic i took of rupert looking like he's gaming) and ignore stuff, they are 5 and 6 and well past chewing stuff up.
Lucy is their pup actually and clearly not past that stage ![]()
We need an episode of "extreme miniature makeover edition!"
You know those episodes where they hide a tattoo with another one? It would be cool if these models could be fixed and made to look awesome with some creative tinkering ![]()
It may come to breaking out the green stuff.
for the tantive get some"Squadron putty" super glue. and you should be able to fix it it pretty well after some paint touch up... just google any of the modeling forums... or even on here...
At first I saw the engine and thought that's no so bad then I saw the front.
I shed a manly tear when I saw those ties.
You did!
YOu should have heard me at 5am this morning going down stairs expecting to meet a burgler to see all the models strewn all over the floor and some of them in bits ![]()
Least the dog didnt wee on them too.. that would have been too much.
Sucks.
You could make up a fun back story for your damaged CR-90.
Maybe it did end up on the wrong side of an Exogorth. (I think the pic was already put up for this)
If you wind up getting a replacement, it could turn out to be pretty cool debris terrain.
Good luck.
I've had a very kind PM from an individual offering to help if FFG can't .
I'm very touched by their kindness and should I have to take them up on their offer because FFG cant or wont (and i know they have no obligation to) then I will be shouting this persons praises on here (if they are ok with that) but at the mo i'll see if I get a response from FFG.
Needless to say I'm far less gutted about the models now... still pretty gutted about my pal.
Edited by GadgeI emailed FFG a few days ago regarding some replacement bases. I too have offered to pay for the replacement parts (I've lost a couple of regular bases as well as a large one somewhere). It took them a few days to email back and they've pointed me in the direction of their online parts request form. I'll let you know how I get on as I'm a couple of days further along the path than you.
Really sorry to hear about your friend. It's always a kicker when you do something nice for someone and it backfires. At least you can see the funny side... ![]()
FANTASTIC NEWS
FFG have got back to me and kindly offered to send me a replacement TIE, IMP ACES SQUINT & a Black Squadron base.
This is great as it is really kind of them, they are going an extra mile for me here too.
They are out of stock of the Tantive but even *anything* would have been nice and to replace two out of the three damaged ships is so kind of them.
THANK YOU FFG
and
THANK YOU to you all for your support and letting me vent about the two things hacking me off this week.
Feel really good now!
Huzzah! All's well that ends well, so here are some corgi pictures to celebrate.

I love Corgis
My dogs are still very young but in the future i may have a corgi again or a blue heeler (im a big mad max fan)
