And I'm just over here giggling at how much fun (key word being 'fun' and not 'good') Outrider with an autoblaster is gonna be.
So Everyone's saying Outrider+HLC...
I'm not saying Outrider+HLC. That last sentence doesn't count, by the way.
HLC is one of the most powerful cannons in the game. Only downside (other than losing critical hits) is that it is generally fixed to your primary firing arc. Now with Outrider title removing that restriction a new downside in that you loose range 1 attacks which didn't matter when it was fixed forward has came up since the firepower 3 ships would be rolling 4 dice at range 1.
As for autoblasters the downside are that you roll 3 dice instead of 4(exception YT-2400 would roll 3), it can only be used at range 1, and critical hits can be cancelled first. Using the outrider title will greatly decrease your field of fire.
I can't wait to use the Outrider title with the Ion Cannon and flying it like a massive middle finger on the table.

Come at me bro.
People are talking about it because it's still the early days of speculating about how awesome the new thing is going to be. Once we get the ships and start playtesting them seriously most people will remember that you don't have infinite points to spend, and start to question the wisdom of putting a 12-point upgrade on a ship that is already fairly expensive and not all that durable.

Of course. I should be there later in the afternoon, depending on circumstances. I'm waiting on a shipment of Dust stuff that I hope to be playing with tomorrow.

Just put down a sheet or something so it does not stain the carpet.

I'm looking forward to the two new cannons in the Most Wanted, looking to see how they work with the Outrider

I not sure what ship is more durable. 2 agility + 10 total hits to take it down. That is a Firespray, but now it has a barrel roll for free.
I don't see myself playing the lower PS as much, Barrel Roll is just so much better when you move last.
I will agree with the OP that I am more excited for the opportunities for FUN from the YT-2400 than it shear game winning-ness.

That's a alot of points for a ship that can only do 1 damage a round.
Outrider and Falcon - crush the entire enemy team's soul.

The point is that HLC + Outrider results in the highest cost efficiency turreted ship, by far, as long as you have a shot. It's not even close. Those are some of the best 12 points you ever could have spent on something, be it ship or upgrade, in the entire wave 1 - 5 history of the game.
Having played with Dash/HLC a good amount since GenCon, I can attest to how good/fun it is. SableGryphon has taken to calling it the "Rebel interceptor" around here. Arc-dodging large base ships dishing out 4 attack dice sure are fun to play with =)
My list at the moment is:
Dash
+Outrider
+HLC
+PtL
+Nien
4xBandits.
Ive debated Push/Nien in place of some combination of Han (Crew), Lone Wolf , Predator, Recon Spec, Leebo, etc. and going to 3xTalas (or 2xX/B/A) instead of the Bandits.

If this post wasn't from MJ, I'd just assume it's massive hyperbole.

If you could make opportunist work that be 5 dice

A lot of us are not speculating. Outrider + HLC is good.

I don't have thee exact numbers on hand, but the cost efficiency analogy (not absolute power) is:
HLC Outrider is to the named YT-1300, as named YT-1300 is to the Outer Rim Smuggler
The YT-2400 is already more durable than the named YT-1300's (excluding Falcon + C-3P0 title). The base ship cost is just fine; the attack is low but the durability makes up for it, for the cost. Slap an HLC + Outrider on it, and you go from 2-3 attack dice, to 4 attack dice. It's significant. If you can pilot well and stay at range 3, then you get defensive bonuses as well, isn't even considered.
It can only get better with new cannons in wave 6, although I suspect that the HLC will still be the preferred canon.
Edited by MajorJugglerI have flown it in a number of games with the Doughnut since I got my copy at Gamescon. It is a blast to fly even though it is stupid expensive. The HLC turret is very powerful and I think it is well worth the cost in today's meta. To get the most out of it I suggest adding Lebo as crew, at 2 points instead of 4 for engine upgrade he adds in that extra bit of maneuverability to make sure you are keeping your targets in that range 2-3 band. VI is also incredibly useful but I have been playing around with PtL to be able to get that extra movement and still focus (which is INVALUABLE for the HLC). The dial on the 2400 is pretty respectable for such a large craft and I found it incredibly friendly to fly, which makes that HLC even more dangerous.

It certainly feels more durable than a Firespray.
Also, it puts out more damage than a Firespray (even with HLC) all while dodging more arcs and getting the range 3 agility more often than not. It also has Rebel Crew card options such as Chewbacca that really help it survive. Firespray can use Ysard now, though.
...is going down in flames to TIEs.
That Range 1 blind spot is a major achilles heel. High PS TIEs (interceptors, phantoms, defenders, whatever) chew up Outrider+HLC. They move in close to the outrider, stay on its trail with boosts and rolls, and the outrider goes down in a few turns.
For imperial players this will be breath of fresh air after dealing with falcons.
PS and being stressed is still currently an issue with Dash, but once Debris Field tokens are tournament legal he's going to become an absolute monster.
Dash
Lone Wolf (Best 2 points in the game after FCS)
HLC + Title
I'm still not sure what the best crew is for him. Recon Specialist gives the most consistency, while PTL+Kyle is also amazing.
Lando + EI could also be a good tanking option, but in general I find he doesn't like being stressed, those 1/2 greens are too restricting. He should be doing a 3 move pretty much every turn.
